Exhibiting in Atlantic City: what to know
What we check for every Atlantic City show, with sources. We handle all of it as part of the all-in price.
How drayage is billed
Drayage (material handling) is billed per hundredweight (cwt = 100 lb), rounded up to the next 100 lb, usually with a 200 lb (2 cwt) minimum per shipment; it covers moving freight from dock or warehouse to the booth, storing empty crates, and returning it to the dock after the show. Cost = rate x (weight / 100). Special handling (uncrated, loose, ground unload) and overtime cost more; late arrivals after the warehouse deadline get a surcharge. Some contractors (Freeman, GES Material Handling+) now bill per pound instead of per cwt.
Drayage (moving your freight to the booth)
- Atlantic City Convention Center show, Dec 2019 (Vista CS): advance warehouse $84.00/cwt, show-site $77.50/cwt (a second show-site option $111.00/cwt), 200 lb minimum, plus 6.625% NJ sales tax; weekend, holiday, before 8am and after 3pm work billed at overtime source
Shipping deadlines
- Same 2019 sheet: advance warehouse takes crated freight up to 30 days before show open; loose/uncrated shipments not accepted there source
Electrical and utilities
- The convention center sells booth electrical on its own order form, ordered online at accenter.com; advance rate deadline is 15 days before show opening (2024 form) source
- 208V needs labor and a floor plan; 480V by phone; building wall outlets are not for exhibitor use; only center electricians remove center equipment source
- 2019 form: electrical labor $107/hr regular, $215/hr overtime, half-hour increments, 1-hour minimum source
