Unified Wine & Grape Symposium 2027 booths in Sacramento: no pour, no lightbox

Growers and winemakers walk this floor comparing presses, barrels, closures and lab gear, and no exhibitor may pour wine, so we build 8-foot booths with no lit signs, where the equipment does the selling. At the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center we file the Freeman paperwork and route freight to the 12-bay K Street dock.

What makes Unified Wine & Grape Symposium different, and how we build for it

Unified is the wine industry's own show: the American Society for Enology and Viticulture and the California Association of Winegrape Growers have run it together since 1995, and its floor stretches from corks and barrels to grape harvesters parked in 23 large machinery areas. The State of the Industry general session opens Wednesday morning, the Regional Wine Tasting fills Exhibit Halls A–D that afternoon and Thursday's Hosted Buffet Luncheon is served on the floor. Exhibitors themselves may not pour a drop. Booth space follows a points system that rewards renewing exhibitors, and a booth that breaks the build rules or packs up early can forfeit those points.

Vineyard owners and managers

Harvesters, sprayers, trellis and irrigation gear they can walk around, plus straight answers on cost per acre, parts and service coverage in their growing region.

Winemakers and winery managers

Presses, tanks, barrels, filtration and lab instruments shown working or opened up, and staff who can talk capacity, cleaning and delivery before the next crush.

Marketing executives and tasting room staff

Labels, closures, glassware, point-of-sale and e-commerce systems shown the way a guest meets them, with pricing sheets on hand, since retail price tags are not allowed.

Your team in Sacramento

Two shops, one project manager, every hall

We build in our own production shop in Fishkill, NY, and our Las Vegas hub, ship to the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, and install with our own project manager on the floor and vetted local labor. Predictable 30–45-day turnarounds, secure storage and pre-show QA.

Rules that shape your booth

Exhibitors never pour wine

California ABC statutes and the license agreement with the convention center's caterer, Sodexo, bar exhibitors from distributing alcohol in any form, samples included; only commercially made, tax-paid display bottles and small samples for lab demonstrations are allowed. We design bottle displays and lab benches that sell with nothing poured.

Organizer rule

Eight feet, open sightlines

Every exhibitor is entitled to a sightline from the aisle, so standard booths are capped at 8 feet and display fixtures over 4 feet within 10 lineal feet of a neighbor stay within 5 feet of the backline. We draw every wall and counter to those lines before production.

Organizer rule

No illuminated signs or flashing lights

The organizer prohibits illuminated signs and flashing lights to protect neighboring booths, and loud video, bells and buzzers are banned too. We specify front-lit printed fabric, spotlights on the product and captioned video, so nothing has to be switched off on show day.

Organizer rule

Machinery on rubber, over drip pans

The convention center requires rubber tires or a similar covering on any wheeled machine and a drip pan under every engine, or the exhibitor pays for the cleanup; propane is allowed only in forklifts. We confirm each machine's specs and book Freeman's union spotting for the January 24–25 setup.

Organizer rule

Hanging signs over big peninsulas only

Hanging signs are banned over standard booths and allowed only above peninsulas of four or more booths, finished on all sides. We engineer an unlit printed sign for those peninsulas and build height from the floor on islands, which have no 8-foot cap.

Programs worth planning for

Booth Sharing

Up to two wine and grape industry suppliers may share a primary exhibitor's booth, each with its own application and insurance: $350 if received by 5 p.m. December 4, 2026, $500 after, closing January 8, 2027.

Official details

Exhibits Only Guest Passes

Primary exhibitors receive 20 free passes for the first 10×10 and 10 for each additional booth, managed online, to bring current or potential clients onto the floor; extra passes can be purchased.

Official details

Regional Wine Tasting

The organizer's ABC-sanctioned tasting in Exhibit Halls A–D on Wednesday, January 27, from 4 to 5 p.m., where attendees sample wines from various regions; keep your booth staffed, since exhibits stay open until 5 p.m.

Official details

Program & Exhibit Directory

Each exhibitor lists up to five products from the organizer's product and service code list in the printed directory and online; products filed under Other are left out, and the print deadline is December 4, 2026.

04 Designing for vineyard, winery and wine packaging suppliers at Unified Wine & Grape Symposium

Four things we get right for Unified Wine & Grape Symposium exhibitors

Freshly picked dark grapes feeding into a stainless screw conveyor in a winery1

Display the bottle, skip the pour

With pouring off the table at Unified, a closure, label or glassware supplier sells through the sealed bottle. We build eye-level shelves for display bottles, cutaway stands that show a cork or screwcap in section, and a bench where lab-equipment makers run small samples through the instrument, the one use of wine the rules allow.

Woman in a white cap watching a grape harvester unload green grapes into a trailer2

Front-lit graphics, no lightboxes

Illuminated signs and flashing lights are banned on this floor, and the 8-foot standard-booth limit counts signs and special lighting. We print large fabric graphics with high-contrast type, light them from arms inside the 8-foot envelope and aim spotlights at the product, so a press or filter reads clearly from the aisle.

Cellar worker hosing down the floor beside large oak vats in a winery3

Put the heavy demo on Level 1

Level 1 Halls A–D carry 350 pounds per square foot under 30-foot ceilings; the Level 2 ballrooms carry 150 and are reached by a freight elevator 8 feet high. Compressed air reaches only one marked zone of the Level 1 floor plan and is not guaranteed, so we size pumps and bottling demos to the floor you are assigned.

Pass Tuesday's walkthrough

Show management walks every booth from 5 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, and anything still over height or blocking sightlines at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday can be dismantled, with booth priority points lost. Our project manager builds to the drawings, stays through the walkthrough and starts pack-out only after the 2:30 p.m. Thursday close, since early breakdown also costs points.

Logistics for Unified Wine & Grape Symposium 2027, handled

Sacramento's collective bargaining contracts put freight, electrical, plumbing and large-equipment spotting with union labor, and Freeman is the official services contractor; its Exhibitor Services Manual, sent to exhibitors in November 2026, sets the marshalling yard and shipping dates. Trucks route from that yard to the K Street dock's 12 truck-height bays. Machinery sets January 24–25, other booths from 3 p.m. January 25 until 5 p.m. January 26, with empty crates out of the aisles by 4 p.m. Level 2 must be packed by 10 p.m. Thursday; Level 1 has until 2 p.m. Friday. We file the EAC agreement and $100 fee by January 8, ship c/o Freeman and install with our own project manager.

Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for this building are in our Sacramento Convention Center exhibitor guide.

Hall guide

The 2027 floor plan puts exhibits on two levels of the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, and each level has its own floor load, ceiling and move-out deadline. Here is what that means for your booth.

Level 1: Exhibit Halls A–D

159,509 square feet under 30-foot ceilings, rated for 350 pounds per square foot, with carpeted aisles; the Regional Wine Tasting and Thursday's Hosted Buffet Luncheon both run here.

Our advice: This is the level for running equipment and heavy displays, and booths here may pack out until 2 p.m. Friday, January 29, which keeps dismantle unhurried.

Level 2: Ballrooms A and B

Fully carpeted ballrooms under 25-foot ceilings, rated for 150 pounds per square foot and served by a 6,000-pound freight elevator 10 feet deep with an 8-foot ceiling.

Our advice: We crate in sections that fit that elevator, skip flooring you do not need up here, and have everything packed by 10 p.m. Thursday, when Level 2 must be ready for removal.

Large machinery areas

23 areas on the 2027 floor for equipment too big for standard booths, set up January 24–25 by Freeman appointment, with an 8-foot drape between double and quad areas.

Our advice: Freight doors measure 24 by 16 feet into Hall A and 17 feet 8 inches by 15 feet 6 inches into Halls C and D, so we check every machine's travel height first.

K Street loading dock

12 truck-height bays, four with adjustable dock plates, plus three direct-access ramps; trucks are routed in from the show's marshalling yard and may not stage on adjacent streets.

Our advice: We book dock times through Freeman and label every crate with your booth number so union crews deliver it straight to your space.

What Purple handles

  • EAC agreement, $100 fee and insurance certificate filed by January 8, 2027
  • Freeman orders, marshalling-yard routing and K Street dock times
  • Drawings checked against the 8-foot, 4-foot and hanging-sign rules
  • Front-lit graphics and counters built in our Fishkill, NY shop
  • Spotting, drip pans and fuel checks for large machinery areas
  • Install, walkthrough fixes and dismantle led by our project manager

Timeline, counted back from move-in

EAC agreement, $100 fee and insurance due: January 8, 2027. An exhibitor-appointed contractor without this filing is not admitted to the floor, so send us your booth number by mid-December and we file the agreement, fee and insurance certificate.

We need design sign-off by mid-November 2026.

  1. Mid-November 2026Design sign-off; machine list with weights, power and compressed-air needs locked; drawings checked against the 8-foot and 4-foot lines.
  2. Mid-November to late December 2026Production in Fishkill, NY; front-lit graphics printed and counters built; Program & Exhibit Directory listing in by December 4.
  3. By January 8, 2027EAC agreement, $100 fee and insurance certificate filed with the organizer; crates ship c/o Freeman on the manual's dates.
  4. January 24–26, 2027Machinery spotted January 24–25; our project manager and vetted local labor build other booths January 25–26 and stay for the 5 p.m. walkthrough.
  5. January 27–28, 2027Exhibits open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday; badged exhibitors may enter 90 minutes before opening.
  6. January 28–29, 2027Pack-out after the 2:30 p.m. close; Level 2 cleared by 10 p.m. Thursday, Level 1 by 2 p.m. Friday, then storage or the next show.

Unified Wine & Grape Symposium exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before Unified Wine & Grape Symposium

How much does a booth at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium 2027 cost?

Start with a 10×20, two of the standard 10×10 units here: the organizer charges $2,500 per unit for the space, and our 10×20 rental with front-lit graphics, flooring and a demo counter runs $7,500 to $15,000. A custom 10×20 runs $15,000 to $45,000. At Unified, machinery spotting, compressed air, heavy crates on Freeman's drayage bill and a Level 2 elevator move-in change the total most.

What are the 2027 exhibitor deadlines at the Unified Symposium?

Pre-sales for renewing exhibitors closed July 8, 2026, so new space now comes by emailed offer once the organizer approves your Exhibitor Information Form, and you pay in full when you accept. After that, December 4, 2026 is the printed Program & Exhibit Directory deadline and January 8, 2027 the cutoff for our EAC filing. We need design sign-off by mid-November 2026.

Can we rent a booth for the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, and what does a rental include?

Yes. A rental here covers the frame, front-lit printed graphics, arm lighting kept under the 8-foot line, a demo counter, freight to Freeman, our EAC filing, installation and dismantle. Level 1 lays carpet in the aisles and rents booth carpet through Freeman, so we include flooring there; the Level 2 ballrooms come fully carpeted. A 10×20 rental runs $7,500 to $15,000 on one fixed proposal.

Can we set up our own booth at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center?

Only partly. Sacramento's collective bargaining contracts keep freight, electrical, plumbing and large-equipment spotting with union labor, and hand-carry means one person, one trip, no cart or dolly. Exhibitors and their contractors may not run motorized lifts or electric carts in the building. We register as your EAC by January 8, 2027, follow the labor rules in Freeman's manual and run the build with our own project manager.

Can we pour wine in our booth at Unified?

No. California ABC rules and the venue's catering contract with Sodexo mean the organizer cannot allow any exhibitor to serve wine, samples included, and Sodexo will not rent you glasses. You may display commercially made, tax-paid bottles and use small samples only to demonstrate lab equipment. Attendees taste at the Regional Wine Tasting, Wednesday 4 to 5 p.m., so we build displays that sell without a pour.

How tall can our booth be at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium?

Inline booths top out at 8 feet, signs and lighting included, and anything taller than 4 feet within 10 feet of a neighbor sits in the back half of the booth. Peninsulas hold 8 feet only in the center 10 feet, dropping to 4 feet at the outer 5. Islands and machinery areas have no 8-foot cap, though walls on an aisle shared with standard booths stop at 4 feet.

What does drayage cost at Unified, and who pays it?

You do: Freeman, the official services contractor, charges material handling at the rates in the Exhibitor Services Manual it sends contracted exhibitors in November 2026. Until that manual lands, we budget about $160 per hundredweight, Purple's 2026–2027 planning figure for this building. Presses and harvesters add union spotting fees, also billed by Freeman, so we weigh every crate and put the estimate on your proposal.

Can we show a harvester or press in a large machinery area?

That is what the 23 machinery areas are for: equipment that cannot fit a standard booth without breaking the build rules. Freeman books each machinery exhibitor a setup appointment on January 24 or 25. Display vehicles carry no more than a quarter tank or 5 gallons of fuel, whichever is less, caps sealed, batteries disconnected.

Can we reuse our Unified booth at other shows?

Yes. We build the walls to reconfigure, so a tank, closure or barrel supplier can carry the same kit to the Craft Brewers Conference in San Antonio or PACK EXPO Las Vegas. We design the graphics to read front-lit in Sacramento and accept backlit fabric where another show allows it, then store the booth between shows and refresh panels for each audience.

When is the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium 2027?

Unified 2027 runs Tuesday, January 26 to Thursday, January 28, 2027. Tuesday brings breakout sessions, the Keynote Speaker Luncheon and the Welcome Reception; the trade show opens Wednesday, January 27, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday, January 28, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Registration and housing open October 20, 2026 at 9 a.m. PDT.

Where is the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium 2027 held?

At the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center, 1401 K Street in downtown Sacramento, where exhibits fill Level 1 Exhibit Halls A–D and Level 2 Ballrooms A and B. The Sheraton Grand, 0.1 miles away, and the Hyatt Regency, 0.2 miles away, are the headquarters hotels, and the venue puts Sacramento International Airport about 15 minutes from downtown.

How many people attend the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium?

More than 10,000 industry professionals: CAWG reports that figure for 2025, and the organizer's January 2024 release gave the same count alongside 900 exhibit booths. The 2026 trade show brought more than 650 exhibitors and 800+ booths to over 200,000 square feet of supplier exhibits, and the 2027 floor plan includes 23 large machinery areas.

Who organizes the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium?

The American Society for Enology and Viticulture (ASEV) and the California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG), which joined forces to create it in 1995 and run it through Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, LLC. More than 40 wine and grape professionals shape the 2027 program, Convention Management Resources handles registration and Freeman is the official services contractor.

How do I get a booth at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium?

Start with the online Exhibitor Information Form, listing up to five products or services. The organizer approves companies whose products are specific to the wine and grape industry, then emails an offer when standard space opens. You sign the Application/Agreement, mark preferred spots on the floor plan and pay $2,500 per 10×10 in full; exhibitors holding priority points book first.

Before you sign with anyone

Five questions to ask any exhibit builder for Unified Wine & Grape Symposium:

  1. Is every fee on the proposal, including what the show contractor bills?
  2. Who builds the booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
  3. Will your project manager be on the floor for install and dismantle?
  4. What exactly is in the rental, and what is billed by the show?
  5. Where does the booth go after the show, and what does storage cost?

Common situations

Already own a booth? We refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it, install it and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for.

Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager answering your emails in your time zone.

Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready in two to three weeks. We tell you on the first call what is realistic for your date.
