Live flame, two floors: HPBExpo 2027 booths in Nashville built to burn
We build HPBExpo booths where hearth dealers watch the flame and grill buyers touch the steel, indoors on Level 3 or out on the Outdoor Burn. Freeman handles material handling, installs finish by 5 p.m. March 3, and indoor burning needs an approved island, so we file the request by December 1.

What makes HPBExpo different, and how we build for it
HPBExpo is the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association's trade-only marketplace, and the one show where products are judged burning.Indoor exhibits fill Level 3 of the Music City Center, while the Outdoor Burn on the Marty Dickens Terrace runs wood, pellet, charcoal and propane appliances live. Indoors only natural gas and alcohol or ethanol appliances may burn, in approved islands of 400 square feet or more. Retailers also come for the New Product Pavilion and its Attendees' Choice Awards, the Ultimate Awards Show on March 5 and the Industry Party, and HPBA's suitcasing policy means suppliers attend only by exhibiting or sponsoring.

Inside HPBExpo 2027
HPBExpo rules that shape your booth
HPBExpo allows indoor burning only for natural gas and alcohol or ethanol appliances, in designated islands of 400 square feet or more, with written approval after a request due December 1, 2026. We design the island and file the request.
Wood, pellet, charcoal and coal appliances at HPBExpo must meet EPA Residential Wood Heater emission standards or have HPBA's written approval, and all appliances arrive pre-burned. We plan the burn schedule and chimney clearances with you.
HPBExpo caps inline displays at 8 and 4 feet (rear and front halves), perimeter booths at 12 feet, islands and peninsulas at 20 feet with drawings over 12 feet, and hanging signs need a variance by January 18, 2027. We draw to each limit.
Cooking and live food preparation at HPBExpo are allowed only in approved outdoor areas, sampling needs approval, and alcohol is served only by the official caterer from noon on exhibit days. We put grill demos on the Outdoor Burn and keep indoor booths static.
HPBExpo installation runs March 1 to 3, 2027, and any booth not set up and in order by 5 p.m. on March 3 may be reassigned without refund; early dismantle before 1 p.m. March 6 costs five Priority Points. We schedule around both.
Programs worth planning for
A showcase for products launched after HPBExpo26, open to HPBExpo27 exhibitors: $599 per 3-foot table-top through January 15, 2027, then $699; attendees vote and winners are named March 5.
HPBA's awards night on Friday, March 5, 2027 from 5 to 7 p.m., naming the Retailer of the Year, Emerging Leader and other honors; nominations are open through December 11.
Exhibitors can host their own two-hour classroom session on Wednesday, March 3, open or invite-only, for product knowledge, sales training or company updates.

HPBExpo bills space in 10×10 increments as inline, corner, peninsula, island or outdoor burn space, and indoor burning is allowed only in designated islands of at least 400 square feet. For a static hearth or grill line a 10×20 works; choose a 20×20 island when your fireplace must burn.

Four things we get right for HPBExpo exhibitors
1Indoor flame needs an island
HPBExpo lets appliances burn indoors only in designated islands of 400 square feet or more, fueled by natural gas or alcohol and ethanol, with one gas connection each, a shut-off within 6 feet and venting at least 12 feet up. We lay out the island around those rules before your December 1 request.
2Wood and charcoal go outside
Solid-fuel, propane and charcoal appliances burn on the Outdoor Burn at the Marty Dickens Terrace, where trailers and vehicles are banned and cooking demos are allowed. We build weather-ready outdoor kits, plan chimneys that clear neighbors and keep the indoor booth for static display and dealer talks.
3Bring your own floor
The HPBExpo hall on Level 3 is not carpeted, and Freeman carpets any bare booth at onsite rates. We spec hearth-stone or porcelain-look flooring that shows how a fireplace sits in a living room, which sells the product better than black carpet and avoids the surprise bill.
4Built to be ready by Wednesday
Every HPBExpo booth must be finished and ready for inspection by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, with no setup allowed on opening day. Our project manager runs gas hookups, burn tests and pre-burned appliances on March 1 and 2, so nothing smokes at the 10 a.m. opening.

Where you could be at HPBExpo 2027
HPBExpo27 splits its floor between indoor exhibits on Level 3 of the Music City Center and the Outdoor Burn on the Marty Dickens Terrace, each with its own access hours and rules.
Level 3 indoor exhibit hall
Open March 4–6; exhibitors enter at 7:30 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The hall is not carpeted, and aisles get black and grey carpet.
Our advice Bring finished flooring that suits a fireplace setting, or Freeman lays carpet at onsite rates after the 5 p.m. Wednesday inspection.
Outdoor Burn, Marty Dickens Terrace
Live wood, pellet, charcoal and propane burning and cooking demos; exhibitor access from 7:30 a.m. daily; no trailers or vehicles on the terrace.
Our advice We ship Outdoor Burn crates through Freeman's warehouse or on your targeted direct date from March 1 and build for wind and weather.
Designated indoor burn islands
Islands of 400 square feet or more marked on the floor plan, for natural gas and alcohol or ethanol appliances only, with venting at least 12 feet high.
Our advice These spaces are limited, so we pick the island with you early and submit the burn request before December 1.

Logistics for HPBExpo 2027, handled
Freeman is the HPBExpo general service contractor, and every advance, direct or driven-in shipment, Outdoor Burn deliveries included, carries Freeman material handling. Items you can hand-carry from a legally parked vehicle in one trip are exempt, but dollies and carts are not allowed, and trailers unload at the main dock by weight. Direct shipments target move-in from Monday, March 1; limited early move-in on February 28 carries overtime. Installation contractors register in advance on HPBA's EAC form. Dismantle starts at 1 p.m. on March 6 and everything must leave by noon March 8. Our project manager leads install and dismantle with vetted Nashville labor.

When is HPBExpo 2027?
HPBExpo27 runs March 3–6, 2027 in Nashville. Wednesday, March 3 is for manufacturer training, retailer roundtables and certification, and the exhibits open Thursday, March 4 and Friday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where is HPBExpo 2027 held?
At the Music City Center in downtown Nashville, with indoor exhibits on Level 3 and Outdoor Burn exhibits on the Marty Dickens Terrace. The Omni Nashville is the headquarters hotel. The 2026 show, HPBExpo26, was held in New Orleans in March 2026.
How much does a booth at HPBExpo 2027 cost?
HPBA members pay $38 per square foot for indoor inline space and $40 for corner or outdoor space through January 15, 2027; non-members pay $48 and $50, and every rate rises $4 on January 16. A member 10×20 inline is $7,600 in space, plus $7,500 to $15,000 for a rental booth from us.
Can we burn a fireplace or grill inside at HPBExpo?
Indoor burning is limited to natural gas and alcohol or ethanol appliances, in booths designated on the floor plan as islands of at least 400 square feet. You file an Indoor Burning Request with your layout by December 1, 2026, cooking is banned indoors, and flames stay 3 feet from aisles and 10 feet from neighbors.
What is the HPBExpo Outdoor Burn?
It is HPBExpo's outdoor exhibit area on the Marty Dickens Terrace, where wood, pellet, charcoal, oil and propane appliances can burn live and cooking demonstrations are allowed. Solid-fuel units must meet EPA wood heater standards or get written approval, vehicles and trailers are banned on the terrace, and outdoor space bills at the higher rate.
What are the HPBExpo 2027 exhibitor deadlines?

What is the booth height limit at HPBExpo?
An inline booth tops out at 8 feet across its rear half and 4 feet closer to the aisle, while perimeter wall booths get 12 feet at the back. Islands and peninsulas may go to 20 feet, with structural drawings for anything over 12 feet. Hanging signs are allowed only over islands and peninsulas, by approved variance.
Who is the HPBExpo general contractor?
Freeman is the official general service contractor. Every advance, onsite or driven-in shipment carries Freeman material handling, apart from items you hand-carry in one trip without a dolly. Overtime applies to weekend move-out and to weekday services after 4:30 p.m. We place Freeman orders early to hit its discount deadline.
Can suppliers walk HPBExpo without a booth?
Under HPBA's suitcasing and outboarding policy, suppliers, manufacturers and business service providers may attend HPBExpo only by exhibiting, sponsoring or both. HPBExpo is trade only. Sponsorship satisfies the participation rule, so a company without space can still be present through a sponsorship package.
What is the HPBExpo New Product Pavilion?
It is a showcase area for products introduced after HPBExpo26, open to HPBExpo27 exhibitors and separate from your booth. A 3-foot table-top costs $599 at the standard rate through January 15, 2027, and every entry is eligible for an Attendees' Choice Award, announced at the Ultimate Awards Show on March 5.
Can we serve food or drinks in our HPBExpo booth?
Booth catering must be arranged through the official caterer, sample-size tastings need HPBA approval, and alcohol may be served only by that caterer and no earlier than noon on exhibit days. Cooking and live food preparation are allowed only in approved outdoor exhibit areas such as the Outdoor Burn.
Where should HPBExpo exhibitors stay?
Book through Maritz, HPBExpo27's only official housing provider, at the Omni Nashville headquarters hotel or seven other downtown properties. Block rates end February 1, 2027. Booking in the block earns 5 Priority Points toward HPBExpo28 booth selection, plus 10 more for 50 or more room nights.
How is booth space assigned at HPBExpo?
Booth space for 2027 is now assigned first come, first served, with contracts accepted in the order received. Priority Points come from recent years exhibiting, continuous HPBA membership, booth size, sponsorship and housing in the block. Starting early with a smaller footprint builds the points that move you up for HPBExpo28.
Can we reuse our HPBExpo booth at other outdoor living shows?
A modular hearth or grill booth moves well from Nashville to the Hardlines Supplier Event in Las Vegas the following week, the Inspired Home Show in Chicago and the next Pool & Spa Patio Expo. We store the kit and rebuild it to each show's height and fire rules.
