IDDBA · THE EXHIBITOR’S VIEW

Dairy, deli and bakery products ask different things of an exhibit. A chilled sample, a packaged range and a freshly prepared serving each need a different display and replenishment plan. Build the sampling workflow before choosing the counter layout.

Plan the front counter and the preparation space.

Purple can develop serving counters, product displays, branded architecture and storage around the approved sampling method. Confirm food preparation, utilities and venue permissions with the organizer and your product team before selecting equipment or promising a live cooking format.

AN EXHIBIT DIRECTION FOR IDDBA

A tasting route that keeps moving.

Connect the product invitation with a practical preparation loop and a place to discuss the commercial range.

01

Recognize the product

Use a clear category message and an appetizing, accurate presentation of the range visitors can try.

02

Serve with purpose

Place the tasting at an accessible counter with room for the server, sample materials and the visitor.

03

Reset behind the scenes

Give the team an orderly route for preparation, replenishment and waste that does not cross the buyer’s main path.

04

Talk about the range

Move the assortment or retail discussion to a surface where packaging, product information and notes can be viewed together.

PRODUCT PRESENTATION

Build for the product on your counter.

01

Dairy & chilled foods

Discuss the required product conditions and display method with your team. Coordinate refrigeration equipment, power and replenishment access before enclosing the counters.

02

Deli & prepared foods

Map the sample assembly and serving sequence, including the equipment and utensils needed for each step.

03

Bakery & packaged ranges

Balance an inviting product display with room to compare formats, packaging and assortment. Protect the sales discussion from a busy sample queue.

Dairy, deli, bakery & foodservice · THE HUMAN DETAIL

Good hospitality needs a working backstage.

A food exhibit comes to life through the people serving and tasting. Give staff reachable supplies, a defined preparation surface and a practical handoff to the colleague handling buyer questions. A welcoming counter is easier to maintain when the replenishment route has already been solved.

IDDBA FIELD NOTES

Design around the journey from sample to shelf

At IDDBA, the product and the conversation have to work together. A dairy, deli or bakery supplier may need to present a retail-ready package, serve a sample and explain the assortment in a single interaction. Start by choosing the buyer decision each part of the booth should support. A new launch might need a clear hero display; an established range may benefit from a merchandising wall that makes flavors, sizes and formats easy to compare.

Lay out the sampling sequence before placing the meeting furniture. Decide where a guest first sees the food, how staff hand it over and where packaging and used service items go. Keep the path to replenishment practical and reserve a separate surface for sales materials. A buyer should be able to move from tasting into a discussion about distribution, merchandising or product specifications without standing in the sampling line.

What this means for the build

Coordinate the exhibit delivery with the separate product delivery plan. Perishable samples and temperature-sensitive supplies need arrangements established by your team; the booth should be ready to receive equipment and support the agreed serving workflow.

IDDBA · THE PRODUCT UP CLOSE

Make Product Variety Easy for Buyers to Compare

Group products by the way buyers will merchandise or serve them, with a clear visual distinction between ranges. Give packaging and category information enough space to remain readable beside the food. If tasting is part of the brief, map the handoff from display to serving and replenishment before finalizing the layout. Confirm each product’s handling needs and the applicable show requirements with the responsible suppliers.

IDDBA FIELD NOTES

Make the preparation area part of the design brief

The visible counter is only one part of a food exhibit. Product storage, preparation, equipment access and cleaning all affect the layout. Document which products need temperature-controlled handling, what equipment is coming and who will coordinate the applicable food-service and venue requirements. Bring the equipment dimensions and service information into the plan early so the booth can accommodate doors, ventilation clearances and staff movement where needed.

IDDBA 2027 takes place June 6–8 at the Georgia World Congress Center. Work backward from the first sampling session to coordinate freight, equipment setup, product delivery and a complete operational walkthrough. Review the current exhibitor materials rather than carrying forward a previous city's service assumptions. After the show, plan separately for reusable exhibit components, remaining food and equipment returns so the team knows what happens when serving ends.

Where the budget changes

Refrigeration, preparation equipment, service counters, utility orders, storage and repeated replenishment shape the IDDBA estimate. Distinguish exhibit construction from food supply and operating responsibilities so every part of the tasting has an owner.

LET THE EXPERIENCE CHOOSE THE FOOTPRINT

FOCUSED

10 × 10: one memorable tasting

Focus on a small product family, a clearly organized sampling counter and a strong package or merchandising display. Reserve room for replenishment and a short buyer conversation before expanding the visible assortment.

CONNECTED

10 × 20: sampling with a sales zone

Explore a service counter at one end and a meeting surface at the other, linked by a product story. Check the actual equipment and staff paths so sampling can continue while a buyer discussion takes place.

IMMERSIVE

20 × 20: a working food destination

Consider distinct discovery, tasting and meeting areas around a practical preparation and storage core. Use the real equipment schedule and serving process to test the plan; the footprint alone does not establish which operations are permitted.

When and where is IDDBA 2027?

IDDBA 2027 runs June 6–8 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The organizer’s exhibit-space page confirms the dates and venue. Use the current 2027 exhibitor materials to establish access, installation and service deadlines; some organizer pages retain historical information from the previous edition, so the year attached to each instruction matters.

What makes a good IDDBA exhibit layout?

Start with three connected tasks: show the product, serve or demonstrate it and support a buyer conversation. Allocate space for replenishment and staff movement before adding decorative features. The right mix depends on the assortment, sampling method and number of representatives working at once. A packaged-food display and a live-preparation booth have different operational needs.

Can we include refrigeration or food-preparation equipment?

Include it in the brief with exact dimensions, operating needs and the intended food-handling process. Equipment affects power, access, storage and the position of the serving counter. Confirm the current venue and organizer requirements with the relevant providers before finalizing the plan. The booth concept should support your approved operating approach, not assume that every appliance can simply be plugged in.

How do we keep sampling from overwhelming buyer meetings?

Give a quick tasting interaction a clear place near the visitor approach and position longer conversations beyond that activity. Consider where a guest will pause while a sample is prepared and how another visitor can enter. A small service point, visible product story and separate meeting surface can help staff move the conversation naturally into a business discussion.

What materials should we prepare before requesting a concept?

Share the booth plan, product list, packaging sizes, sample quantities, equipment schedule, artwork and staff count. Explain what must remain cold, what arrives ready to serve and what needs preparation. Include desired buyer-meeting capacity and the items you already own. This creates a brief that reflects the actual work of the booth and supports a meaningful scope review.

What drives the cost of an IDDBA booth in Atlanta?

The serving method can matter as much as the floor area. Chilled displays, preparation equipment, counters, utility arrangements and back-of-house storage create different requirements. Define how food is supplied and replenished, then separate the exhibit build from the operating costs of running the tasting throughout the show.

JUST SHOW UP.
