What makes NRLA LBM Expo different, and how we build for it
LBM Expo is the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association's yearly trade show, where independent lumberyards and home centers from the Northeast meet the manufacturers and distributors that stock their yards.NRLA places booths by points, earned for years exhibiting since 1996, NRLA membership, booth size, sponsorship and Lumber Co-operator advertising, so loyal exhibitors pick first. The 2026 show at the Earth Expo & Convention Center at Mohegan Sun runs two full floor days with lunch served on the floor, breakfast sessions in Earth Ballroom A, panels in the Education Zone, the NYLE annual meeting and NRLA's own Annual Meeting.
Owners of independent yards decide which lines they stock and promote; they want margin, freight, territory protection and support for their contractor customers.
Buyers compare decking, windows, siding, fasteners and tools for next season, so they need the product they can touch, price sheets and show-only deals.
Contractor sales reps and NYLE members look for products their builder customers ask for and for training they can take back to the yard.

Two shops behind your NRLA LBM Expo booth
Our Fishkill, NY production shop and our Las Vegas hub build the booth, we ship it to the venue, and our own project manager runs the NRLA LBM Expo install on the floor with vetted local labor. Every NRLA LBM Expo build runs a predictable 30 to 45 days and gets a pre-show QA, with secure storage after.
At NRLA LBM Expo, your team walks into a booth that is lit and stocked. You just show up.
Inside NRLA LBM Expo 2027
NRLA LBM Expo rules that shape your booth
NRLA prohibits exhibitors from using forklifts, pallet jacks, rider jacks and scissor lifts; only dollies and hand trucks are allowed. We build vignettes in two-person panels and book Shepard for anything heavier.
At LBM Expo the back half of a linear booth may rise to 8 feet, the aisle half to 4 feet, and perimeter booths to 12 feet at the back. We place the product wall at the rear and keep counters low.
Island exhibits may use their full cube up to 4 feet below the ceiling's highest point, signs included, and hanging signs in islands may reach 2 feet below it with approval. We draw the island and sign for NRLA.
For 2026, exhibitors with 20×20 and larger booths must be on site by 2 p.m. on Monday, December 7, and everyone by 1 p.m. Tuesday. Our project manager books the crew for the Monday start.
Food and drink in booths need NRLA approval and must come from the official caterer, and dispensing alcohol is prohibited. We build a serving counter that works with the caterer's setup.
Programs worth planning for
NRLA's booth placement system: points for each NRLA show since 1996, membership years, booth size, and 2% of sponsorship, Lumber Co-operator advertising and NYLE dues; 2026 Phase 1 closed May 22.
Panels on the show floor during LBM Expo; the 2026 program covers selling smarter in lumber and building materials and AI in the LBM industry, plus the NYLE Annual Meeting.
NRLA sells LBM Expo sponsorships and promotional items, and 2% of sponsorship spending counts toward next year's placement points.
LBM Expo is the Northeast's lumber and building material dealer show; choose it over NAWLA Traders Market when your buyers are independent retail lumberyards and home centers, not wholesale distributors. Compare all the building materials shows we build for →

02 Booths & pricing for NRLA LBM Expo 2027
Popular booth sizes at NRLA LBM Expo
NRLA sells space by the square foot, from 8×10 booths kept for new exhibitors to 20×20 peninsulas and islands, and places exhibitors by points. Inline 10×10 and 10×20 booths fill most aisles, and decking, window and siding makers take islands. We recommend a 10×20 with an installed product wall, or a 20×20 for a full product line.

A wall of installed product, such as a deck section, a window in a framed opening or siding on a mock wall, plus a counter for dealer program sheets.

Case study · Fabuwood
Fabuwood at KBIS 2026, Orange County Convention Center, Orlando
A 13-room cabinetry environment with an illuminated brand portal and timber slat walls, designed, built and installed by Purple and named one of the best booths on the floor.
Fabuwood won buyers with finished cabinetry rooms rather than stacked samples; at LBM Expo, lumberyard buyers respond the same way to windows, decks and siding shown installed.

04 Designing for building material manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors selling through Northeast lumberyards at NRLA LBM Expo
Four things we get right for NRLA LBM Expo exhibitors
1No forklifts of your own
NRLA bars exhibitors from using pallet jacks, forklifts, rider jacks or scissor lifts, so only dollies and hand trucks are allowed. We engineer deck sections, window units and siding walls in panels that two people lift, and let Shepard set anything heavier.
2Show it installed, not stacked
Lumberyard buyers know the product; they want to see how it looks and installs. We build a framed opening for windows, a deck corner with hidden fasteners, or a siding mock-up with trim, so a buyer can picture it on their own showroom floor.
3Respect the 4-foot front half
NRLA caps the aisle half of a linear booth at 4 feet and the back half at 8; perimeter booths get 12 feet at the back. We keep the product wall at the rear and use low decking or counters in front.
4Two floor days, two lunches
In 2026 the floor is open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days with lunch served on the show floor. We keep the front of the booth open and put the dealer program sheet within reach, because buyers stop while they carry lunch.

Where you could be at NRLA LBM Expo 2027
NRLA has not named the 2027 venue. These are the spaces the 2026 show uses at the Earth Expo & Convention Center at Mohegan Sun, which show how LBM Expo runs.
Show floor
Booths placed by NRLA points, open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days in 2026, with lunch served on the floor from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Our advice Lunch keeps dealers on the floor; a front counter with the program sheet catches buyers who stop with a plate.
Education Zone
The 2026 panels on sales and AI in lumber and building materials, plus the NYLE Annual Meeting, which is open to anyone.
Our advice Sessions end into the aisles; a booth near the Education Zone sees groups of yard staff at the same time.
Earth Ballroom A
The 2026 breakfast sessions on both mornings, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., before the floor opens.
Our advice Dealers come from breakfast straight to the floor at 9:30, so we keep your first-hour message short and readable from the aisle.

Logistics for NRLA LBM Expo 2027, handled
NRLA has not posted 2027 dates or venue, so we plan from the 2026 show at the Earth Expo & Convention Center at Mohegan Sun. Shepard Exposition Services is the official service contractor, with orders placed through its ExhibitorPro kit and paid before the show closes. Booths of 20×20 and larger must be on site by 2 p.m. on the Monday before opening, everyone else by 1 p.m. Tuesday, and NRLA bars exhibitors from forklifts, pallet jacks and scissor lifts. We ship crated product displays, file the Shepard orders, and our project manager directs the vetted local labor that sets the booth.

NRLA LBM Expo exhibitor questions
Questions exhibitors ask us before NRLA LBM Expo
When is LBM Expo 2027?
The 2027 dates are not confirmed yet. NRLA's events page and lbmexpo.net list only the 2026 show, Wednesday, December 9 to Thursday, December 10, 2026, with NRLA's Annual Meeting held alongside on December 10. We plan your 2027 booth as soon as NRLA posts the dates.
Where is LBM Expo held?
The 2026 show is at the Earth Expo & Convention Center at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. NRLA has not announced the 2027 venue, so it is not confirmed yet; this page plans from the Mohegan Sun schedule and NRLA's published booth rules.
How much does a booth at LBM Expo cost?
For 2026 NRLA charges members $37 per square foot for booths up to 200 square feet and $34 above, so a member 10×20 is $7,400 before corners; non-members pay $44 and $43. Corners add $100 or $200 each. Our 10×20 rental adds $7,500 to $15,000.
How does LBM Expo booth placement work?
By points, in two phases. For 2026, complete applications with a 50% deposit received by May 22 were placed by points and later ones first come, first served. Points come from NRLA shows exhibited since 1996, exhibitor and membership years, booth size, and 2% of sponsorship, Lumber Co-operator advertising and NYLE dues.
Can first-time exhibitors get a booth at LBM Expo?
First-time exhibitors earn few points, so they place after returning companies, but NRLA reserves its 8×10 booths for new exhibitors, member associations and companies that have not exhibited since 2017, with a waiting list once they sell out. We design an 8×10 kit that grows into a 10×20.
What are the booth height rules at LBM Expo?
NRLA sets linear booths at 8 feet maximum toward the back wall and 4 feet along the aisle, with 12 feet allowed at the back of perimeter booths. Peninsulas start at 20×20 and may reach 20 feet at the back wall's center, and islands may use their full cube up to 4 feet below the ceiling.
Can we use a forklift to set up at LBM Expo?
NRLA prohibits exhibitors from using mechanized or hydraulic material moving equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, rider jacks and scissor lifts; only dollies and hand trucks are allowed. Shepard's crews handle heavy freight, so we design product displays that set by hand.
Who is the decorator at LBM Expo?
Shepard Exposition Services is the official service contractor. Exhibitors order through Shepard's ExhibitorPro kit, selecting LBM Expo 2026 after activating an account, and must pay for all contractor services before the show closes. We place your Shepard orders and handle the freight.
What are the LBM Expo show hours?
The 2027 schedule is not confirmed yet. In 2026 registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and the show floor runs 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Wednesday, December 9 and Thursday, December 10, with lunch on the show floor from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
When do we pay for LBM Expo booth space?
For 2026 NRLA set a 50% deposit by May 21 and the balance by July 15, payable to NRLA in U.S. funds, and late payment can cost your placement. The 2027 payment dates are not confirmed yet; we time design sign-off well after your space is paid.
Can we serve food or drinks in our LBM Expo booth?
Only with NRLA approval and through the official caterer, and dispensing alcohol is prohibited. Sound must stay around 80 to 90 decibels measured from the center aisle, with no continuously flashing lights. We plan a coffee or snack counter through the caterer if you want one.
Can we rent a booth for LBM Expo?
We rent LBM Expo booths with framed product walls, deck or window vignettes, counters, lighting and graphics, built in panels that set by hand under NRLA's no-forklift rule. The kit can return at IBS, JLC Live or a buying-group show.
Is LBM Expo worth exhibiting at?
For manufacturers and distributors whose products sell through independent Northeast lumberyards, it gathers those dealers in one hall for two days, and NRLA reported more than 75% of the 2026 floor sold well before the show. Returning exhibitors earn points, so a long-term plan pays off.
Before you sign for NRLA LBM Expo
Five things to ask every builder quoting NRLA LBM Expo:
- Will the proposal show every NRLA LBM Expo fee, including show contractor charges?
- Who actually builds it for NRLA LBM Expo: your shop or a subcontractor?
- Will your project manager be on the floor at the venue for install and dismantle?
- For NRLA LBM Expo, what is in the rental and what is billed by the show?
- Once NRLA LBM Expo closes, where does the booth go and what does storage cost?
