What makes PMTS different, and how we build for it
PMTS is the biennial show of the precision machined products world, presented by the PMPA in association with Gardner Business Media and its Modern Machine Shop and Production Machining brands. It is a working show: Swiss-type and multispindle lathes cut parts in the booths, with free Tech Talks running alongside an onsite Parts Cleaning Workshop (2025 program). Student Day brings in the next generation of machinists, and the PMTS Opening Night Party and two PMTS Happy Hours keep shop owners on site after hours, so booths are built for long, technical conversations.
A running machine with cycle times and part tolerances they can see, and a table to talk lead times, financing and service support.
Tooling, workholding and finished parts they can hold under good light, with an applications engineer who can talk feeds, speeds and setups.
Clear product lines, sample parts by material and industry, and a quiet spot to discuss pricing, territories and capacity.

Popular booth sizes at PMTS
PMTS is a compact floor: in 2025, 338 exhibitors shared 81,200 square feet, so inline booths sit beside machine builders on larger islands, and space sells by the square foot. Tooling and workholding suppliers do well in a 10×20 showcase; for a machine builder we recommend a 20×20 planned around one lathe and its bar feeder.

Case study · KLEEMANN
KLEEMANN at a industrial technology exhibition
An interactive booth for a global elevator manufacturer: digital simulations, real product showcases and a floor plan that guided visitors from first step to last.
Different machine, same job: KLEEMANN needed real product and a floor plan that guided visitors step by step, which is how a PMTS machine booth sells.
Read the KLEEMANN case study All case studies →“Purple Exhibits made us look good. The booth was one of the nicest displays in our section of the convention center and generated a lot of positive comments from both customers and industry peers. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond made a huge difference.”

04 Designing for machine tool, tooling and precision machining suppliers at PMTS
Four things we get right for PMTS exhibitors
1Start from the machine footprint
Lathes with bar feeders run long, and service doors and chip conveyors need clearance. We lay out the booth from your machine drawings, weights and utility points, then place walls, graphics and walkways so the forklift set and the visitor path both work.
2Show the part, not just the machine
Machinists judge a demo by the part. We build a lit take-off display at eye level, show cycle time and tolerance on a screen, and keep sample parts in trays so visitors can hold a finished piece.
Plan coolant, chips and noise
Running cells need drip containment under the machine, a clean way to empty chips and enough distance from the meeting table that a conversation survives the spindle. We specify the flooring, containment and layout for a three-day run.
Give tooling a readable library
Insert, cutter and workholding buyers compare by material and operation. We organize displays by application, label every item with its part number and a QR code to data, and build restock drawers into the counters.

Concept rendering
Every proposal comes with a rendering like this

Logistics for PMTS 2027, handled
The Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland sits downtown off Lakeside Avenue, a short walk from downtown hotels and the RTA Red Line. The building does not accept advance freight: everything ships to the show's general service contractor and arrives during the designated move-in, and electrical, air, internet and sign hanging are ordered through the venue's Exhibitor Services Portal. PMTS calls the building non-union, and we plan machine sets and booth labor from the PMTS exhibitor kit. We file every contractor and venue order, schedule the forklift set of your equipment and install with our own project manager and vetted local labor.
Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for this building are in our Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland exhibitor guide.
Hall guide
PMTS returns to the Huntington Convention Center, which now joins the former Global Center building for about 1 million square feet combined. These are the spaces this campus uses and what they mean for a machining booth.
The main exhibit floor downtown off Lakeside Avenue; no advance freight is accepted, and utilities and sign hanging go through the Exhibitor Services Portal.
Our advice: Running lathes need power, air and floor loading planned before move-in, so we file your portal orders from the machine drawings.
225,000 square feet across four stories, converted to exhibit space in a $52 million county-funded project and reopened in July 2024.
Our advice: Multi-level space suits meetings, receptions and lighter displays; we keep heavy machines and their forklift sets on the main exhibit floor.

Questions exhibitors ask us before PMTS
How much does a booth at PMTS 2027 cost?
Booth space costs $25 per square foot for PMPA members and $32 for non-members, billed by PMTS. On top of that, a 10×10 rental starts at $3,500, a 10×20 rental runs $7,500 to $15,000, and a custom 20×20 around a running machine runs $50,000 to $120,000. Machine rigging, power and air move the total most.
When do we need to order a PMTS 2027 booth?
Book space first: PMTS sells the floor by the square foot and premium positions go early. For the booth, we need design sign-off by late February 2027 with your machine list fixed at the same time, so power, air and floor loading go into the design and the 30 to 45 day build ships in April.
Can we rent a booth for PMTS, and what does a rental include?
Yes. A rental includes the frame, your printed graphics, counters, lighting, freight, installation and dismantle. Tooling suppliers often rent the structure and add a custom lit part display or an insert library they own, so the piece that sells the product travels on to your other machining shows.
Can we set up our own booth at the Huntington Convention Center?
PMTS describes the Huntington Convention Center as non-union, so your staff can assemble a simple booth within the show's rules. Machinery still arrives through the general service contractor during move-in and is set by forklift. When we install, our project manager runs the machine set and the booth build together.
Can we run machines in our PMTS booth?
Yes. PMTS is a working show where Swiss-type and multispindle lathes cut parts in the booths. Plan drip containment for coolant, a way to empty chips and power and air ordered through the venue's Exhibitor Services Portal. We lay out the booth from your machine drawings so service doors and bar feeders have room.
What does drayage cost at PMTS and who pays it?
The general service contractor bills material handling to you by weight, and the venue takes no advance freight. Purple plans Cleveland drayage at about $145 per hundredweight with a 200-pound minimum (2026–2027 planning figure). Machines are the heavy line, so we weigh them early and the estimate appears on the proposal.
Can we reuse our PMTS booth at other shows?
We build in modular sections so the same booth fits Fastener Fair USA, Interwire or Automate with new graphics. Between shows we store it, inspect it and swap the part gallery for each audience, and because PMTS runs every other year, your booth stays in service between editions.
We already own a booth. Can you refresh it for PMTS?
We inspect your existing booth, repair worn parts, reprint graphics around your current machines and part samples, and adapt the layout to your PMTS footprint. Then we ship it to the service contractor, install it with our project manager and store it after the show until your next event.
Do you handle the show contractor orders for PMTS?
We ship to the general service contractor's warehouse for delivery at move-in, book material handling and the forklift set, file electrical, air and internet through the venue portal and send you a copy of every order, so the machine is cutting when the hall opens May 4 at 10:30 am.
Before you sign with anyone
Five questions to ask any exhibit builder for PMTS:
- Is every fee on the proposal, including what the show contractor bills?
- Who builds the booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
- Will your project manager be on the floor for install and dismantle?
- What exactly is in the rental, and what is billed by the show?
- Where does the booth go after the show, and what does storage cost?
Common situations
Already own a booth? We refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it, install it and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for.
Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager answering your emails in your time zone.
Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready in two to three weeks. We tell you on the first call what is realistic for your date.
