What makes ACS Fall different, and how we build for it
ACS Fall is the American Chemical Society’s national meeting, so the ACS Expo sits inside a full week of technical sessions. Chemists come down to the hall between talks to see instruments, reagents, software and publishing services, catch a 50-minute session at the ChemSpark Theater or the Periodic Talks Theater, and stop at the ACS Career Fair in the same room. The evening Sci-Mix poster event keeps the science going after the expo closes. The booths that work answer a specific chemistry question quickly and keep a scientist talking.
Application data for their chemistry, a technical expert at the counter, and a quick look at the instrument, reagent grade or software workflow before the next session starts.
Clear product families, pricing and service terms, and a seat to compare options for a lab upgrade or a new consumables contract.
Product literature, sample requests and a friendly route into your company, often on the way to or from the ACS Career Fair.

Popular booth sizes at ACS Fall
The ACS Expo mixes 10×10 and 10×20 inline booths from specialty suppliers, publishers and software firms with islands from the larger instrument and chemical companies. For one instrument and a consumables story we recommend a 10×20 with a demo counter; for several workflows, a 20×20 island with instrument platforms.

Two product zones, such as an instrument and a consumables wall, with a small table for a lab manager conversation.

Case study · SpecialtyRx
SpecialtyRx at a healthcare trade show
A custom island with elevated circular branding and LED tiles that stayed busy from open to close, built for visibility across the whole floor.
Different buyer, same floor problem: the SpecialtyRx island stayed busy from open to close, which is what an ACS booth must do as session breaks send chemists into the hall.
Read the SpecialtyRx case study All case studies →“We were very happy with the experience and with the support provided throughout the project. The booth looked great, the coordination process was smooth, and everything was handled professionally, which made the event much easier for our team.”

04 Designing for chemical, instrument and lab supply companies at ACS Fall
Four things we get right for ACS Fall exhibitors
1Display chemicals safely and honestly
Use empty or simulated containers and label-accurate packaging rather than live reagents, and keep safety data and grades readable at eye level. We build shelving with lips and secure fixings so bottles and kits stay put on a busy floor.
2Plan instrument weight and power
Benchtop and floor instruments need solid plinths, protected cable runs and dedicated circuits ordered on time. We size plinths from your weights, design crates that double as storage and route power so nothing crosses the aisle.
Win the minutes between sessions
Attendees arrive in waves when technical sessions break. A clear headline about the chemistry problem you solve, a touchscreen with application notes and two open counter positions let staff handle a short, dense conversation and capture the lead.
Light for screens and glassware
Glossy instruments, glass vials and monitors all pick up glare. We aim fixtures to show product surfaces cleanly, keep the light neutral so liquids and labels read true, and position screens away from hall light.

Concept rendering
Every proposal comes with a rendering like this
You see the booth in 3D before we cut a single panel: layout, graphics, lighting and product positions, revised until it is right. Shown: a Purple concept for Bernath + Rosenberg.

Logistics for ACS Fall 2027, handled
San Diego's main convention center runs a union floor, so installation and dismantle are union work under the show's contractor agreements, and material handling runs through the show's exclusive contractor. Its Halls A to H sit on the downtown waterfront, the Gaslamp Quarter and waterfront hotels are a 5 to 15 minute walk, and San Diego International is 10 to 15 minutes away. We read the ACS exhibitor kit, order labor, electrical and drayage, crate your instruments, ship to the advance warehouse and supervise installation with our own project manager and vetted local labor.

Questions exhibitors ask us before ACS Fall
How much does a booth at ACS Fall 2027 cost?
Our 10×20 rentals run $7,500 to $15,000, and a custom 20×20 island with instrument platforms runs $50,000 to $120,000. At ACS the number moves with instrument weight, plinths, union labor hours and dedicated circuits. ACS bills the booth space, and the show contractor bills labor, power and freight handling.
When do we need to decide on an ACS Fall booth?
Plan on design sign-off by mid-June 2027. That allows a 30–45 day build in our Fishkill shop, graphics proofed against your product photography and a ship date about three weeks before the August 22 opening. Island drawings and the instrument power plan go in with the sign-off.
Can we rent a booth for ACS Fall, and what comes with it?
Yes. A rental covers the structure, your printed graphics, lighting, counters, freight, installation and dismantle. Lab suppliers often pair a rented 10×20 with custom instrument plinths or a reagent display they own, and we keep the graphics on file so the same set goes to your next lab show.
Can we set up our own booth in San Diego?
San Diego's convention floor is union, so structure installation and dismantle are union work under the official contractor's labor agreements. Your scientists can still unpack, connect and calibrate instruments. We order the labor, run the build with our project manager, level the plinths and test screens before your team arrives.
What does drayage cost at ACS Fall in San Diego, and who pays it?
Drayage, the contractor's charge for moving freight from the dock or advance warehouse to your booth, is billed to the exhibitor by weight. Our San Diego planning figure is about $176 per hundredweight with a 200 pound minimum (2026–2027). Instruments are dense, so we weigh each crate and list the estimate on your proposal.
Can we reuse our ACS booth at other shows?
Chemistry and lab suppliers often take the same modular booth to Pittcon, the ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and ADLM. We design plinths and graphic panels to reconfigure between footprints, store the booth between shows and swap application graphics for each audience.
We already own a booth. Can you refresh and install it at ACS Fall?
We inspect your existing booth, repair worn parts, print new graphics for this year's products and add instrument plinths or a touchscreen counter if needed. Then we ship it to the advance warehouse, install it with our project manager and store it afterward, all on one fixed proposal.
Do you handle the ACS show contractor orders?
Yes. We read the ACS exhibitor kit and place the material handling, electrical, labor and furniture orders with the show contractor, timed for the discount dates. Every fee is listed upfront on our proposal, and you are copied on each order so nothing depends on a form you never saw.
Before you sign with anyone
Five questions to ask any exhibit builder for ACS Fall:
- Is every fee on the proposal, including what the show contractor bills?
- Who builds the booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
- Will your project manager be on the floor for install and dismantle?
- What exactly is in the rental, and what is billed by the show?
- Where does the booth go after the show, and what does storage cost?
Common situations
Already own a booth? We refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it, install it and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for.
Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager answering your emails in your time zone.
Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready in two to three weeks. We tell you on the first call what is realistic for your date.
