No height limit, no fake plants: TPIE 2027 booths in Fort Lauderdale
We build TPIE booths where foliage and flowering plants do the selling: live material stacked to the ceiling, lit for color, with a counter for writing post-show orders. FNGLA has dropped booth height limits, and Expo Convention Contractors runs the floor, so we plan the structure and the service orders together.

What makes TPIE different, and how we build for it
TPIE is produced by the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association, which speaks for a Florida nursery and landscape industry it puts at $41.9 billion in economic impact, and its tagline says it plainly: before it's anywhere, it's at TPIE. The floor rewards live plants. FNGLA bans artificial and preserved plants from displays, has scrapped booth height limits under its Cubic Content Rule, and judges every booth for awards presented in the Create Theater on opening day. The TPIE Road Show takes buyers on nursery tours the day before, Knowledge College sessions run beside the hall, and space is assigned by seniority and financial support, so long-time growers hold the prime aisles.
The next trending foliage or flowering plant before competitors see it, pricing by the rack or truckload, and proof the plant ships and holds up on a store shelf.
Specimen plants, palms and containers for lobbies and offices, growing media and care programs, and a grower who can supply the same plant consistently across a contract.
Orchids, bromeliads and flowering plants with color they can sell online or in a shop, small-format pots and packaging, and a booth display that shows how to merchandise them.
Your team in Fort Lauderdale
Built in two shops, run by one project manager
Production happens in our own shop in Fishkill, NY, and at our Las Vegas hub, and we ship to the Broward County Convention Center and install with vetted local labor, led by our own project manager on the floor. A predictable 30–45-day turnaround, secure storage and a pre-show QA before TPIE.
Your staff walks onto the TPIE floor and the booth is already lit and stocked. You just show up.
Inside TPIE 2027
Rules that shape your TPIE booth
TPIE lets exhibitors use the whole cubic area of their booth, to the front edge and the ceiling, but every visible side and exposed frame must be professionally finished. We build tall and skin every back panel.
TPIE bans artificial or preserved plants, trees and flowers in displays, apart from a staff-approved holiday decor exemption; cut trees, untreated pine straw, hay and moss are banned too. We design with live plants and treated fill.
TPIE booths over 200 square feet with an enclosed ceiling, greenhouse plastic included, and any multilevel booth need a fire watch and two plans sealed by a Florida engineer. We commission the plans and book the watch.
Mowers and equipment with oil or gasoline engines may not run at TPIE; tanks drop to a quarter tank or 10 gallons, caps are taped, batteries disconnected and keys go to security. We plan placement and spotters for large units.
Packing up or removing product before the 2 p.m. close on TPIE's last day is photographed and costs priority for future booth selection. We book dismantle labor and flights for after the Friday close.
Programs worth planning for
Booth awards from Best Plant Display to Outstanding First Time Exhibitor, plus Trending Plants and Products and Cool Product awards, presented January 20, 2027 at 3 p.m. in the Create Theater.
A full-day production tour of Florida's tropical foliage nurseries on Tuesday, January 19, 2027, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the day before the show floor opens.
18+ sessions in business strategy, garden center and interiorscape tracks at $75 each, $90 after December 16, 2026, each worth 1.5 FNGLA CEUs, plus half-day palm workshops.
TPIE is the U.S. marketplace for tropical foliage, floral and indoor plants, with 470 exhibitors in 2026; choose it over Cultivate when your buyers are interiorscapers, florists and mass market plant buyers sourcing for the year ahead. Compare all the consumer products shows we build for →

Popular booth sizes at TPIE
TPIE sells inline and corner or end-cap space in 10×10 units and islands from 20×20, and every 2027 booth comes with carpet, a two-line sign, side rails and an 8-foot draped back wall. We build from 10×20 up, so plants can rise in tiers to full ceiling height under the Cubic Content Rule.

A tiered plant wall built to TPIE's full cubic content, grow-light strips on the foliage, a merchandising rack stocked the way a garden center would and a two-seat order counter.

Case study · French Avenue
French Avenue at a fragrance and beauty trade show
A premium fragrance environment built around discovery, with a flow designed for real conversations and product sampling.
Different product, same visitor: French Avenue's booth was built around discovery and sampling, and TPIE buyers walk the floor hunting for the plant nobody else has yet.

04 Designing for tropical foliage, floral and plant growers and their hardgoods suppliers at TPIE
Four things we get right for TPIE exhibitors
1Use the whole cube
FNGLA's Cubic Content Rule lets TPIE exhibitors build up to the front of the booth and up to the ceiling, as long as every visible side is finished. We use that height for tall foliage towers and hanging baskets and finish the backs of walls, since TPIE will finish bare framework at your cost.
2Covered booths over 200 square feet
A TPIE booth larger than 200 square feet with an enclosed ceiling, including greenhouse plastic, needs a fire watch and two Florida-stamped engineering plans. We design greenhouse looks with open roofs or slatted canopies, or we file the sealed plans and book the fire watch.
3Only real plants, kept fire-safe
TPIE bans artificial and preserved plants, cut trees, untreated pine straw, hay and moss, and mulch must stay damp. We build displays from live material and treated substrates, add drip trays and hidden watering access, and keep holiday decor inside FNGLA's exemption.
4Orders, not cash and carry
Over-the-counter sales are banned at TPIE; buyers write orders for delivery after the show, and display plants sold in the booth stay until Friday's 2 p.m. close. We design an order desk with availability lists and SOLD tags for display material, so the booth looks full to the end.

Where you could be at TPIE 2027
TPIE fills the exhibit halls of the Broward County Convention Center with 1,100+ booth spaces, with registration in Lobby B and the opening session in the Palm Ballroom.
Show floor
Open January 20 to 22, 2027; the Expo Convention Contractors service center sits at the back left, and the Create Theater hosts the awards on the floor.
Our advice Booth judging happens before the Wednesday 3 p.m. awards, so we finish grooming and lighting on Tuesday, not on opening morning.
Lobby B registration
Open from Monday, January 18 for exhibitors, then 8 a.m. daily; exhibitors enter the hall from 9 a.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday and Friday.
Our advice Collect badges on move-in day, because each 100 square feet of space includes 10 badges to share with your team.
Palm Ballroom and Room 207
The 9 a.m. opening session runs in the Palm Ballroom and the TPIE Welcome Orientation in Room 207 on January 20, before the floor opens at 10 a.m.
Our advice The first hour of traffic arrives after the opening session, so we light the booth's best plants toward the hall entrance from the start.

Logistics for TPIE 2027, handled
Expo Convention Contractors is the TPIE decorator, with its service center at the back left of the show floor, and FNGLA requires 30 days' written notice before the show for any other installer, with names and insurance certificates, which we file. Florida is a right-to-work state, so your own employees can assemble the booth with hand tools; hired labor goes through the contractor or Purple as your appointed contractor. The center sits inside the Port Everglades security district, so we brief carriers on truck routing before they reach the marshaling yard. Move-in runs January 18 and 19, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and our project manager stays through the 2 p.m. Friday close.
Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for the building that hosts TPIE are in our Broward County Convention Center exhibitor guide.
What Purple handles
- Booth design that uses TPIE's full cubic content
- Florida-sealed engineering plans and fire watch for covered booths
- Contractor notice and insurance certificates filed with FNGLA 30 days out
- Expo Convention Contractors orders for furniture, vacuuming and crate storage
- Carrier briefings for Port Everglades truck routing
- Our project manager on the Fort Lauderdale floor through the 2 p.m. Friday close
Your TPIE timeline, from move-in back
Last day to cancel or reduce TPIE space without losing the full booth fee: November 1, 2026. After November 1 FNGLA keeps the entire booth fee, so we settle your footprint and plant plan with you before then.
For TPIE, we need design sign-off by early November 2026.
- Late October 2026Booth confirmed; we plan the plant list, tiers and lighting against your space on the TPIE floor plan.
- Before November 1, 2026Final booth size settled, since FNGLA keeps the full booth fee for cancellations or reductions after November 1.
- Early November 2026Design sign-off, about ten weeks before move-in; covered-booth engineering plans started if your design has a roof.
- November to December 2026Production in Fishkill, NY over 30 to 45 days; the notice naming Purple as your installer, with insurance certificates, reaches FNGLA at least 30 days before the show.
- January 18–19, 2027Move-in 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days: structure on Monday, live plants and grooming on Tuesday while buyers are on the Road Show.
- January 20–22, 2027Show days and booth judging; dismantle starts only after the 2 p.m. Friday close, then the structure goes to storage.
Purple's planning timeline for TPIE. Move-in, freight target and order deadlines are set by the TPIE exhibitor kit and your assigned schedule; we confirm them for your booth once you book.

TPIE exhibitor questions
Questions exhibitors ask us before TPIE
When is TPIE 2027?
TPIE 2027 runs Wednesday, January 20 to Friday, January 22, 2027. Attendees enter from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. The TPIE Road Show nursery tour runs Tuesday, January 19, and exhibitor move-in is January 18 and 19.
Where is TPIE held?
At the Broward County Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, beside Port Everglades and about 2 miles from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The Omni Fort Lauderdale opened next door in time for the 2026 show. TPIE stays in Fort Lauderdale for January 19–21, 2028, January 17–19, 2029 and January 23–25, 2030.
How much does a booth at TPIE 2027 cost?
TPIE space for 2027 is $14.00 per square foot inline for FNGLA members and $23.45 for non-members, so a member 10×20 is $2,800 in space. On top, a 10×20 rental booth from us runs $7,500 to $15,000 and a custom 20×20 island $50,000 to $120,000; plant volume, lighting and a covered roof move the total.
Is it cheaper to join FNGLA before booking TPIE space?
Often it is. FNGLA membership costs $415 to $945 a year by company size, and the member rate saves about $9.45 per square foot on 2027 inline space, which is $1,890 on a 10×20. FNGLA says the savings often exceed the dues, and membership can be added during booth reservation.
Is there a booth height limit at TPIE?
TPIE has none: FNGLA eliminated booth height restrictions under its Cubic Content Rule, so you may use the entire cubic area of your space, to the front edge and up to the ceiling. Every visible side, including exposed framework, must be finished professionally, and a booth over 200 square feet with an enclosed ceiling needs stamped plans and a fire watch.
Can we use artificial plants in our TPIE booth?
TPIE prohibits artificial or preserved plants, trees and flowers in any display for marketing purposes, with a recent exemption for holiday decor that FNGLA staff must approve. Cut trees, untreated pine straw, hay and moss are banned on fire grounds too. We build every TPIE display from live, groomed material.
Can we sell plants at TPIE?
Over-the-counter sales, where the buyer leaves with the item, are strictly prohibited; normal order-taking for delivery after the show is fine. Display material may be sold, but the buyer cannot remove it until the show closes on the final day, and exhibitors handle any Florida sales tax that applies.
Can we set up our own TPIE booth at the Broward County Convention Center?
Florida is right-to-work, so your own employees can build the booth with hand tools, and FNGLA offers move-in assistance to exhibitors who bring their own materials in a company vehicle and supervise unloading. Any outside installer, including us, must be named to show management 30 days before the show with insurance certificates.
Who is the TPIE decorator?
Expo Convention Contractors, based in Miami, provides TPIE booth furnishings and services, with a service center at the back left of the show floor. Booth vacuuming must be ordered from the decorator, and empty crates are stored by it for a fee. We place these orders and list each one on your proposal.
How many people attend TPIE?
Almost 7,500 nursery and landscape professionals from more than 40 countries, 46 states, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico attended TPIE 2026, with 470 exhibitors. The 2024 show reported nearly 8,000 attendees from all 50 states and 40 countries. For 2027 TPIE lists 470+ exhibiting companies and 1,100+ booth spaces.
Can we serve food or give away samples at TPIE?
Food and drink may not be brought in, given away or sold by exhibitors unless bought from the convention center's concessionaire, which holds exclusive rights. Printed material, yardsticks, shopping bags and similar items may be handed out from inside your booth only, and stick-on decals are banned in the building.
What awards can exhibitors win at TPIE?
FNGLA judges booths for awards such as Best Plant Display, Best Use of Small Space and Outstanding First Time Exhibitor, plus Trending Plants and Products and Cool Product awards. The 2027 winners are presented on Wednesday, January 20 at 3 p.m. in the Create Theater on the show floor.
Where do TPIE exhibitors stay?
TPIE books hotels through the Tropical Plant International Expo Housing Bureau, run with Eleventh & Gather, and the block opens to registered attendees. Cancel at least seven days before arrival to avoid a one-night fee. The bureau never calls to sell rooms, so anyone phoning about TPIE housing is unauthorized.
Can we reuse a TPIE booth at other plant shows?
A modular TPIE build travels well: MANTS in Baltimore runs a week earlier, iLandscape follows in February and Cultivate in Columbus in July. We swap tropical graphics for each audience, store the frames between shows and rebuild the plant tiers to each floor's rules.
Before you sign for TPIE
Ask any TPIE exhibit builder these five questions:
- Is every fee on the proposal, including what the TPIE show contractor bills?
- Who builds the TPIE booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
- Will your own project manager be at TPIE for install and dismantle?
- What does the rental include, and what is billed by TPIE?
- Where is the booth stored after the show, and at what cost?
Common situations
Already own a booth? We refresh its graphics, repair what is worn, ship and install it for TPIE, and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for and bring it to TPIE.
Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground in Fort Lauderdale: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager answering your emails in your time zone.
Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready in two to three weeks. We tell you on the first call what is realistic before TPIE.
