The short answer

Trade show staffing in St. Louis

Most St. Louis shows happen under one roof downtown, a few blocks west of the Gateway Arch. Purple Exhibits books local brand ambassadors, booth reps, product presenters, hostesses and registration hosts for America’s Center, The Dome, the downtown hotels and riverfront receptions, all at a flat $85 an hour per person with a four-hour minimum. Our crew lives in the metro, so there are no travel fees. Missouri show floors are union, so our people stay on the people side of the booth: greeting, demos, badge scans and lead notes. Book three to four weeks out, earlier for convocation week in November, or call us 72 hours ahead for a rush.

Union floor

Who does what on a St. Louis show floor

Missouri is not a right-to-work state, and the trades at America’s Center are union. That is no problem for booth staff, as long as everyone knows where the line is.

Your Purple crew

  • Greet visitors in the aisle and bring them into the booth
  • Run your product demo from a script we learn with you
  • Scan badges and write a short note on each lead
  • Hand out samples, swag and literature
  • Host the reception, the VIP table or the registration desk
  • Keep the booth tidy between waves of traffic

The venue and union crews

  • Building any booth over 300 sq ft, or any build that needs power tools
  • Electrical, plumbing and carpet cleaning (Edlen)
  • Freight on the docks and drayage (the show contractor)
  • Food and drink (Levy) and internet (Smart City)
  • Theatre AV and ballroom rigging (Encore)

Exhibitors can set up a booth of 300 sq ft or less with their own team and hand tools. Check the current exhibitor rights list in your show kit.

River city

Trains, heat, crowds and ballgames

Four St. Louis details that change call times, routes and how early to book.

Exhibit hall at America’s Center in St. Louis with manufacturing and medical device booths and a brand ambassador in a burgundy blazer greeting visitors
America’s Center on a busy show day: long aisles, high ceilings and buyers on the move.
01

MetroLink from the airport

The Red Line runs from Lambert to the Convention Center station. Our crew rides it too, so a highway backup does not wreck a 7 a.m. call time.

02

Summer on the river

July and August are hot and sticky. Outdoor riverfront and Arch-grounds activations get shade, water and shorter rotations.

03

Convocation week

The Church of God in Christ Holy Convocation brings tens of thousands of guests to America’s Center each November from 2026 to 2028. Hotels and restaurants fill; book staff early.

04

Ballgame nights

Downtown hotels and parking tighten on baseball home dates from spring into fall. We plan call times and meeting points around them.

Labs and fields

Biosciences and ag-tech events

St. Louis has deep plant-science and life-science roots. These events are smaller than a trade show but need staff who get the science right.

Cortex

Midtown, near the Central West End

An innovation district of biotech labs, startups and offices with its own MetroLink stop. Investor days, open houses and product launches need hosts who can learn a technical one-liner fast.

39 North

Creve Coeur, about 600 acres

The plant-science and ag-tech district anchored by the Danforth Plant Science Center. Field days and partner events want calm, well-briefed greeters and registration hosts.

Downtown science meetings

America’s Center and the hotels

Medical, research and technical associations bring poster halls and exhibits downtown. We send booth reps who qualify by specialty and presenters who stick to your approved claims.

Avoid these

Five St. Louis mistakes we help exhibitors skip

Planning to build a big booth yourself

Over 300 sq ft, or anything that needs a drill, goes to union labor. Plan your install crew and let our staff arrive once the booth is standing.

Asking booth staff to carry freight

Personal vehicles unload at an assigned overhead door, never the dock, and only under the show’s rules. Our staff report to the booth, not the loading area.

Ignoring the size of the building

The Dome sits at the far end from Halls 1–3. If your team has a breakout and a booth, add a few minutes and a runner to the plan.

Booking November late

Convocation week fills hotels and the local talent calendar. Lock your crew six weeks or more ahead.

Taking a cab from Lambert at rush hour

The Red Line reaches the convention center in about half an hour. Use it, and so will we.

Purple Exhibits St. Louis team
Checked by our Midwest coordinators · Updated

How much do trade show models cost in St. Louis?

$85 an hour per person, with a four-hour minimum. The rate is the same for brand ambassadors, booth reps, product presenters, hostesses and registration hosts, and St. Louis bookings carry no travel fees.

Is America’s Center a union building?

Yes. Missouri is not a right-to-work state, and show labor at America’s Center is union. Our staff do the visitor-facing work: greeting, demos, badge scans and lead notes. Booth builds over 300 sq ft, electrical, freight and rigging go to the venue’s contractors and union crews.

Can your staff help set up our booth?

They can unpack brochures, set out samples and get the counter ready, which exhibitors may do themselves. They do not use power tools, run wiring or move freight from the docks. Plan your install with the show contractor and bring our crew in once the booth is up.

Do you staff shows in The Dome?

Yes. When a show uses The Dome floor, we brief staff on the walk from the halls, set a meeting point and add a runner if your team is split between the Dome and a hall.

How do your staff get to the convention center?

Most use MetroLink or drive in from their own neighborhood. The Convention Center station sits about a block from the main entrance, so early call times stay reliable.

Can you staff the AAA audiology convention in April 2027?

Yes. We send booth reps and product presenters for hearing-aid, diagnostic and software exhibitors at shows like AAA. We learn your device names and approved claims before the hall opens.

What happens during the Holy Convocation in November?

The Church of God in Christ’s Holy Convocation returns to America’s Center from 2026 to 2028 and fills downtown hotels. If your event lands that month, book staff six weeks or more ahead.

Do you staff biotech and ag-tech events?

Yes. We send hosts, registration staff and presenters to events in Cortex, at 39 North in Creve Coeur and at science meetings downtown, briefed on your talking points.

Can you staff a riverfront or Union Station reception?

Yes. We send hostesses and greeters for receptions at Union Station, downtown hotels and riverfront venues near the Arch, with a four-hour minimum per person.

How far ahead should I book St. Louis staff?

Three to four weeks for most shows, and six weeks or more for November convocation week. Rush bookings need 72 hours’ notice.

What if someone on my St. Louis team cancels?

A replacement from our St. Louis bench who has read your brief arrives within two hours, or that shift is free.

Do you also cover Kansas City and Chicago?

Yes. We have local teams in Kansas City and Chicago, so a Midwest run of shows can use local crews in each city with one Purple coordinator.

Where can I hire booth staff near America’s Center?

From us. Our St. Louis crew lives in the city and in suburbs on both sides of the river, and most reach the building by MetroLink or a short drive. They report to your booth on show morning, with no flights or hotel nights to pay for.

Can I book promotional models for one day in St. Louis?

Yes. One day works, with a four-hour minimum per person. Plenty of exhibitors add a single day of promo staff for opening morning, a launch or an evening reception.

What do St. Louis booth staff wear?

You choose. Branded polos suit consumer shows, tailored suits suit medical and corporate events, and cocktail dresses fit receptions. Send your shirts or a color guide and we brief everyone before day one.
