The short answer

Booth staffing in Minneapolis

In Minneapolis your booth staff may never step outside. Purple Exhibits staffs the Minneapolis Convention Center, the skyway hotels downtown and events across the Twin Cities with local demo hosts, booth reps, brand ambassadors and hostesses at a flat $85 an hour per person. Our Minneapolis crew runs medical-device demos in October, works the boat and home shows in deep winter, and moves between hotel and hall through more than 4,000 skyway-linked rooms. Book three to four weeks ahead, six for medtech shows and the January boat show, and 72 hours for a rush.

Keep every demo sharp until close

Medtech and engineering shows run on demos, and a host who has run the same demo for five hours loses the room. Set your stations and hours to see the crew, the rotation and the cost.

Labor: Minnesota is not right-to-work and hired show labor is union. The building’s open dock policy lets your own employees unload and set up. Our staff greet, demo, scan and host; anything with a forklift or a ladder stays with the contractor.

Winter plan

The boat show is in January. We plan for that.

Some of the biggest consumer shows here run in the coldest months. This is how we keep your stand staffed.

Skyway routes

We map each staffer’s hotel-to-hall route so nobody walks outside in January.

Coat plan

Boat and home show visitors arrive in parkas. A greeter and a coat spot keep your stand clear.

Snow standby

We hold standby staff when a storm is in the forecast and move call times earlier.

Warm-up rotations

Outdoor activations rotate inside every hour in deep winter.

Winter weather watch

Five Minneapolis mistakes we help exhibitors avoid

WATCH 1

One person on a demo all day

Demo quality drops after two hours. Plan a relief host for every three stations.

WATCH 2

No practice before a medtech show

Engineers and clinicians spot a weak demo. We schedule a practice run with your team.

WATCH 3

Booking hotels off the skyway

In January, a room off the skyway means a cold walk. Book inside the network.

WATCH 4

Forgetting the coats

Winter visitors carry parkas. Plan a coat spot and a greeter at the entrance.

WATCH 5

Booking the boat show late

January crews fill in the fall. Reserve six weeks out.

Minneapolis staffing questions

Reviewed by our Twin Cities coordinators · Updated

How much do trade show models cost in Minneapolis?

$85 an hour per person with a four-hour minimum. Demo hosts, booth reps, ambassadors and hostesses all cost the same, and there are no travel charges anywhere in the Twin Cities.

Do you staff MD&M Midwest and other medtech shows?

Yes. We send demo hosts and booth reps who learn your device story and practise the demo with your team. Clinical or engineering questions go to your experts.

How many demo hosts do I need?

One per demo station, plus a relief host for every three stations so demos stay sharp all day. The rotation planner on this page builds the schedule for you.

Do your staff use the skyways?

Yes. We map each person’s route from hotel or transit to the hall. The Hilton next door connects by skyway, and more than 4,000 downtown rooms are linked to the center.

Is the Minneapolis Convention Center union?

Hired show labor is union, and Minnesota is not right-to-work. The building’s open dock policy lets an exhibitor’s own employees unload and set up. Our staff greet, demo, scan and host; building work stays with the contractor.

Do you staff the Minneapolis Boat Show?

Yes. We send brand ambassadors and product presenters for boat and marine brands, and plan a coat spot and greeter for winter visitors.

Can you staff events in St. Paul and Bloomington?

Yes. We staff the RiverCentre, St. Paul hotels and the Bloomington hotel district with local crews at the same rate.

How do staff get to the convention center from the airport?

The METRO Blue Line runs from MSP to downtown in about 20 minutes, and the center is a short walk or skyway from the stations.

What happens if it snows during my show?

We hold standby staff when snow is forecast and move call times earlier. Most of the crew lives close to a light-rail or bus line.

When should I book Minneapolis staff?

Six weeks out for medtech shows and the January boat show, three to four weeks for everything else. We can turn around a rush in 72 hours.

What if a host can’t make it because of the weather?

We keep standby hosts who live near light rail. One is briefed and on your stand within two hours, or you are not charged for that shift.

Can Purple build and staff our booth?

Yes. We design, build, ship and install exhibits for the Minneapolis Convention Center and staff them under one plan.
