The short answer

Booth staffing in Baltimore

Baltimore is a walking town for exhibitors: the convention center, the big harbor hotels and Camden Yards sit within a few blocks of each other. Purple Exhibits staffs the Baltimore Convention Center, the Hilton and Hyatt ballrooms and harbor-side receptions with local brand ambassadors, booth reps, product presenters, hostesses and registration hosts. Every role is a flat $85 an hour per person with a four-hour minimum. Medical societies, biotech firms and federal contractors make up much of the floor here, so we brief each crew on the audience as well as the product. Plan three to four weeks ahead, or 72 hours for a rush.

The whole team in a single shade from your brand palette for receptions and award nights.

Works best: Harbor-view dinners at the Hyatt and the Hilton

Logo polos and dark chinos

Your branded polo, comfortable shoes and a look that still holds up at hour eight of a public day.

Works best: Boat show and coin expo weekends

Fine black knits

Quiet, smart and modern, so the product and the badge desk get the attention.

Trade show models in Baltimore, plus seven more roles

Each role below costs $85 an hour per person, four-hour minimum. Mix them however you like: one booking can cover the hall booth, a breakout room and the evening reception. If your tour carries on to booth staff in Washington, DC or event staff in Philadelphia, local crews there work on the same terms.

01

Trade show models

Polished, camera-ready models give a boat, a device or a launch stage real presence, then send serious visitors to your sales team. Public weekends at the convention center are where Baltimore clients book them most.

02

Brand ambassadors

Ambassadors learn your story in about an hour and tell it well all day. Each giveaway is swapped for a badge scan, so the swag budget brings back names.

03

Promotional models

Street-team and sampling talent for sponsor tents near Camden Yards, Harbor East pop-ups and Pratt Street activations. A single launch day is fine.

04

Hostesses and reception hosts

Hosts hold the guest list at harbor-view dinners, take coats and walk senior guests to your executives. Most of this work happens in the Hyatt and Hilton ballrooms.

05

Product demonstrators and presenters

Presenters run a short, scripted demo for medical devices, software or defense technology and stay inside the claims your team has cleared.

06

Registration staff

Check-in teams for society and association meetings handle badge printing, name lookups and the first-morning rush at the front desk.

07

Lead-capture booth reps

Reps with your scanner app ask three qualifying questions and tag each visitor hot, warm or cold before the sales follow-up starts.

08

Multilingual staff

Spanish-speaking and other bilingual staff can be requested for international delegations at medical and scientific meetings, subject to availability.

The harbor block

Three buildings, one short walk

Union house

Who does what on a Maryland show floor

Maryland has no right-to-work law, so union agreements cover the build at the convention center. Knowing the line saves you a costly mix-up on move-in day. Purple can also act as your exhibitor-appointed contractor if we build your booth.

Who builds

Teamsters handle freight, carpet and decorator work; carpenters set and strike prefabricated displays.

Who does not

Our booth staff never lift crates, run cable or hang signs. They welcome, explain, demo and capture leads.

Your own people

Two full-time employees of the exhibiting company may spend one hour on setup and one on teardown without carpenters.

Center-only services

Electrical, internet and catering come from the center or its chosen providers.

Getting in

Light Rail, Amtrak and the ballpark

Baltimore is easy to reach by rail and air, and our crew lives close enough to be on the floor before doors open. Four things we plan around.

Light Rail · Convention Center stop

Trains stop on Howard Street at Pratt, right beside the building. Crew from the north suburbs and Hunt Valley ride straight to the hall door.

BWI Marshall Airport

The same Light Rail line starts at BWI, roughly 25 to 30 minutes from downtown. Your sales team can land and reach the booth without a taxi.

Penn Station · Amtrak and MARC

About two miles north of the harbor. A Light Rail spur or a short cab ride brings arrivals from Washington or Philadelphia down to the hall.

Camden Yards game days

Oriole Park sits a few blocks west of the center. When the Orioles play at home, Pratt and Howard fill up, so we set earlier call times.

Who attends

Who walks the floor in Baltimore

Between Washington and Philadelphia, this city draws a mix you will not find in many places. We match the crew to the visitor.

Medicine and biotech

Johns Hopkins, the University of Maryland medical campus and a deep biotech corridor fill Baltimore meeting rooms with clinicians and researchers. Booth reps stay on the claims your regulatory team approved and route clinical questions to your medical staff.

We send: Booth reps, registration hosts

Government contractors

Baltimore sits on the federal side of the I-95 corridor, with defense, cyber and IT firms close by. Visitors expect plain answers and business dress; presenters run the demo, booth reps tag program and agency interest.

We send: Product presenters, booth reps

Collectors and hobbyists

Coin expos, the comic convention and the boat show bring long public days and big crowds. Ambassadors keep aisles moving and make sure every giveaway earns a scan.

We send: Brand ambassadors, hosts

Associations and societies

Many national groups hold their yearly meeting here because the harbor hotels are next door. Registration hosts run the check-in rush; hostesses work the evening reception.

Tie it off

Six Baltimore mistakes we help exhibitors avoid

FLAG 1

Expecting booth staff to set up

Maryland halls are union houses. Book the trades for the build and let our staff arrive ready to work the aisle.

FLAG 2

Forgetting the ballgame

An evening Orioles game can jam the streets around the center. Check the schedule before setting move-out and reception times.

FLAG 3

Treating a medical meeting like a consumer show

Clinicians want facts, not a pitch. Brief staff on approved claims and give them a clear hand-off to your medical team.

FLAG 4

Assuming the Hyatt skywalk is open

The Light Street skywalk has been closed for restoration. Confirm with the hotel and plan the street-level route.

FLAG 5

Flying a crew in from DC or Philadelphia

We have local staff here, so there is no airfare or hotel bill for a Baltimore show.

FLAG 6

Leaving the reception unstaffed

Harbor-view rooms at the Hyatt and the Hilton are where society dinners happen. Add a hostess team for the night.

Purple Exhibits Baltimore team
Checked by our Mid-Atlantic coordinators · Updated

How much do trade show models cost in Baltimore?

$85 an hour for each person, with a four-hour minimum. Ambassadors, booth reps, presenters, hostesses and registration hosts all cost the same, and there are no travel fees because the crew is local.

Do you staff the Baltimore Convention Center?

Yes. We work booths in the exhibit halls, sessions in the meeting rooms and dinners in the ballroom, and we know how the halls connect to the Hilton walkway.

Can your staff help build our booth?

No. Maryland has no right-to-work law, and union trades handle freight, carpet and display setup. Our staff arrive once the booth is standing and work the visitors.

Do you staff medical and biotech meetings?

Yes. We send booth reps who learn your approved talking points, qualify visitors by specialty or role, and pass clinical questions to your medical team instead of answering them.

Do you staff government and defense contractor events?

Yes. Our Baltimore presenters and booth reps work in business dress, follow your compliance plan on giveaways, and tag each lead by agency or program.

How do staff get to the convention center?

Most ride the Light Rail to the Convention Center stop on Howard Street, beside the building. Others drive in from Towson, Columbia or Glen Burnie and park nearby.

Can our team fly into BWI and get downtown easily?

Yes. The Light Rail runs from BWI Marshall to the Convention Center stop in roughly 25 to 30 minutes. Amtrak and MARC trains also stop at Penn Station, north of the harbor.

Do you staff the Hilton and the Hyatt Regency?

Yes. We send registration hosts, hostesses and booth reps to both. The Hilton connects to the center by an enclosed walkway; for the Hyatt we plan a street-level route in case the skywalk is closed.

Which Baltimore shows do you staff?

We staff exhibitors at shows like the Baltimore Boat Show, the Whitman coin expos, Baltimore Comic-Con, the American Towman Exposition and the medical society meetings that rotate through the city.

We also exhibit in Washington and Philadelphia. Can you cover all three?

Yes. We have local crews in each city, so each show is staffed without flights or hotel nights. One coordinator can manage all three bookings.

How far ahead should I book?

Three to four weeks for most Baltimore shows, and earlier for Comic-Con weekends. Rush requests need at least 72 hours.

What happens if a staffer cancels?

A briefed replacement from our Baltimore bench reaches your booth within two hours, or that shift is free. Every replacement reads the same brief and talking points as the rest of your crew.

Where can I hire booth staff near the Baltimore Convention Center?

Book through Purple Exhibits. Our Baltimore crew lives a short drive or Light Rail ride from Pratt Street, so early call times at the center, the Hilton or the Hyatt are routine. Send the booth number and hours and we confirm names and a call time.

Can I book promotional models for one day?

Yes. A single day works as long as each person is booked for at least four hours at $85 an hour. One-day bookings are common for game-day sponsor tents near Camden Yards and one-night product launches.

Do you handle event staffing in Baltimore outside trade shows?

Yes. The same local crew covers corporate receptions, hotel ballroom conferences, product launches and sponsor activations at the same hourly rate. Tell us the venue and the guest count and we suggest a team size.
