ASCRS 2027 booth design & build in San Diego
Custom and rental exhibits for IOL, phaco, laser, diagnostic and practice-software companies, built so a surgeon gets a clear position at the eyepiece and everyone waiting gets a screen. Freeman orders, union labor and the San Diego Convention Center docks handled by Purple's Southern California crew.

What makes ASCRS different, and how we build for it
ASCRS is the anterior segment meeting: cataract, refractive, cornea and glaucoma surgeons who come to handle instruments and watch live demonstrations of phaco, femto and diagnostic technology. The ASOA Program brings the practice administrators who sign the purchase order into the same building, and Subspecialty Day, the Technicians & Nurses Program and the ASOA Networking Lounge each pull a distinct audience through the aisles. The EyeSeek Game sends attendees booth to booth, Freeman runs the floor, and booth selection appointments run in Priority Point order. The booth that wins here gives a surgeon a clear viewing position at the eyepiece and an administrator a separate seat for the implementation conversation.
A device they can inspect up close, an eyepiece or console at the right working height, and a specialist who can answer a technical question without a sales script.
A separate surface for equipment requirements, training, service and financing, with seating for two people from the same practice to work through a document together.
Accessories and consumables laid out in the order they are used, readable labels, and a short reference sheet that matches the physical display.

Booth options for ASCRS 2027
Pick a footprint. We’ll price it as a rental, a custom build, or a hybrid.
Islands at ASCRS are 20×20 and up, with 10×30 islands where space allows; hanging signs are island-only and inline booths cap at 8 ft with anything over 4 ft set 5 ft back, so the large IOL, phaco and laser companies own the sightlines. Purple clients usually run a 10×20 demo inline or a 20×20 island with a hanging sign and a closed meeting room.

One diagnostic or surgical device on a lit demo counter, an 8 ft graphic back wall and lockable storage for instruments and reserve stock.

A live demo station with an observer screen beside it, a second device or software station, and a small consult table set 3 ft back from the aisle.

An island under a hanging sign: an eyepiece demo with a clear viewing position, a diagnostics station and an enclosed meeting room for the administrator conversation.
See 20×20 rental booths →
A portfolio island organized by product family, a small theater set 5 ft back from the aisle, private meeting rooms and staff storage inside the structure.
See 20×30 rental booths →All-in 2026 ranges for design, structure, graphics, installation and dismantle; booth space, drayage and show services are separate. A custom-built booth runs roughly $100 to $250 per square foot depending on finish level. A rental of the same footprint usually lands at 35 to 50 percent of the purchase price for one show. Four things we get right for ASCRS exhibitors

Give the observers a second view
If only the person at the eyepiece can follow the demo, the booth is missing its audience. We build the camera mount or enlarged image into the fixture, route the cable inside the counter and place the observer screen where it reads from outside the operator's position.

Control reflections on optics and screens
Reflective housings and small interface text make lighting decisions consequential. We light the counter with your actual device housing and screen in place, check glare from seated and standing viewpoints, and keep illuminated walls from washing out an optical image.
Separate the demo from the practice talk
A surgeon inspecting a device and an administrator asking about training and service should not share one counter. We give the implementation conversation its own surface and seating, visually connected to the product but outside the demo circulation.
Keep the demo screens compliant
Public screens run approved demonstration records, never patient data. We label every item as display sample, supervised demo piece or reserve stock, build lockable storage into the furniture and keep the working surface clear so a specialist can explain one component without rearranging the counter.

Concept rendering
Every proposal comes with a rendering like this

Logistics for ASCRS 2027, handled
The San Diego Convention Center runs a union floor, so installation and dismantle go through the show's labor agreements and our Southern California crew works under them. Freeman is the ASCRS general services contractor and the exclusive material handler: freight goes to the Freeman advance warehouse, then to your booth in the ground-level halls off Harbor Drive. Drayage runs about $176 per hundredweight with a 200-pound minimum, so we pack consoles and instruments to keep weight and piece count down. ASCRS requires floor covering in every booth and island blueprints filed with the Exhibits Team, and we handle both. The Marriott Marquis and Manchester Grand Hyatt are a short walk from the center.
Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for this building are in our San Diego Convention Center exhibitor guide.

ASCRS exhibitor questions
Questions exhibitors ask us before ASCRS
How much does a 20×20 at ASCRS cost?
A 20×20 custom island runs $50,000 to $120,000 all in for design, structure, graphics and installation, and a 20×20 rental island lands between $16,000 and $40,000. Demo counters with camera mounts and a closed meeting room move the number. Send us your device list and we return a fixed quote.
Can you install at the San Diego Convention Center?
Yes. Our Southern California crew works the union floor under the show's labor agreements, takes delivery from Freeman, sets and levels every demo counter, tests screens and lighting with your devices in place, and hands you a finished booth before exhibitor registration opens.
Can we rent a booth for ASCRS?
Yes. A 10×20 rental with your graphics runs $7,500 to $15,000 and a 10×10 starts at $3,500. We add custom demo fixtures, lockable instrument storage and an observer screen to the rental frame, so a first-time ASCRS exhibitor gets a clinical-grade booth without buying the structure.
When do we need to decide?
Design sign-off by mid-January 2027 gives a comfortable 30 to 45 day build, time for island blueprint approval and an early-March ship to the Freeman advance warehouse. Booth space itself is assigned in Priority Point order through the fall, so send us your placement as soon as you have it.
Do you handle Freeman orders and drayage?
Yes. We read the Exhibitor Service Manual, order carpet, electrical, rigging and material handling through Freeman, ship to the advance warehouse, pack to keep drayage weight down and keep you copied on every deadline, including the floor-covering deadline ASCRS enforces before the hall opens.
