Five-hour floor days: ASN Kidney Week 2027 booths in San Diego
We build Kidney Week booths around five-hour exhibit days, so a nephrologist can see your device, read its labeling and book a follow-up before the next session starts. At the San Diego Convention Center we route every crate through Freeman and file island drawings with ASN by August 18, 2027.

What makes ASN Kidney Week different, and how we build for it
Kidney Week 2027 is the American Society of Nephrology's 60th Annual Meeting, and its Scientific Exposition keeps short hours: 9:30 a.m.to 2:30 p.m. on October 28, 29 and 30, with the first hour each day free of competing sessions. Posters hang in the same hall, so nephrologists and kidney scientists move between abstracts and booths, while Exhibitor Spotlights ran in three theaters on the floor in 2026. Innovation Avenue gives newer companies a turnkey kiosk and a slot on the Innovation Stage. Space goes out in Priority Points order, and ASN accepts only products that are educational and tied to nephrology, medicine or research.
A hands-on look at a dialysis, monitoring or diagnostic device between sessions, its labeling printed beside it, and a specialist who can talk clinical workflow rather than a feature list.
Assay, reagent and instrument detail on a panel they can read in a minute after the poster rows, and an easy way to request data or samples before the hall closes at 2:30.
Service, staffing and cost questions answered at a quiet table, and a follow-up meeting booked in the booth or in an Exhibitor Office away from the main floor.

Inside ASN Kidney Week 2027
Rules that shape your booth
Giveaways must be educational and worth $10 or less, with tote bags, pens and water bottles named as banned, and contests of any kind are prohibited (2026 rules). We file your giveaway request by August 18, 2027 and design one shelf for the approved item.
Islands of 400 square feet and up typically need 40% visibility through the booth and a 4-foot break for every 12 feet of solid wall, under a 20-foot height cap ASN will not vary (2026 rules). We engineer to those numbers and file the drawing by August 18, 2027.
Exhibitors promoting products not sold in the United States to non-U.S. participants are told to build international areas U.S. participants cannot enter, and island partitions still need 4-foot breaks every 12 feet (2026 rules). We plan that area into the floor plan from the first sketch.
In-booth presentations are allowed only in booths of 1,600 square feet or more, with no audio amplification and the crowd held inside the space; schedules and content summaries go to ASN by August 18, 2027. We build seating and screens that work without sound.
ASN has signed the CMSS Code for Interactions with Companies and expects exhibitors to follow the AdvaMed and PhRMA codes; selling goods on the floor is banned, though order taking is allowed (2026 rules). We design for conversation and order taking, with no cash point in the booth.
Programs worth planning for
A turnkey kiosk with two stools, a demo monitor and a 20-minute talk on the Innovation Stage for $4,500, open to startups and companies absent from Kidney Week for three years; applications close September 22, 2027, or at sellout.
A 20×20 private office in Exhibit Hall E for $20,000, with a boardroom set for ten and one 500-watt power drop, open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 27–30; one per company until July 9, 2027.
Company-presented 45-minute sessions in theaters on the exhibit floor, served with breakfast or lunch to fully registered participants; ASN lists them as non-CE activities, and in 2026 they ran in three theaters.

1Staff the 9:30 unopposed hour
Kidney Week's floor opens only 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the first hour each day runs with no competing sessions. We put your fastest demo at the aisle edge, keep the deeper conversation two steps inside, and lay out the counter so a full team can work that first hour without crowding.
Design for the poster crowd
Posters share the exhibit hall with the booths, authors stand by them from 10 a.m. to noon, and concession lunch follows from noon to 2 p.m. Kidney scientists arrive straight from the poster rows, so we give them data panels at reading height and a lean counter for a ten-minute technical talk.
Plinths and cabinets for dialysis hardware
ASN lists dialyzers, dialysate and laboratory equipment among the products its members recommend or prescribe. A hemodialysis machine or analyzer needs a stable plinth, its own circuit and service access from behind, and with no storage allowed behind the booth we build lockable cabinets for consumables and spare units inside the footprint.
Fence off the international story
In 2025, 29% of Kidney Week participants came from outside the U.S., with Japan, Germany and the Philippines leading. ASN's 2026 rules ask exhibitors showing products not sold in the U.S. to build areas closed to U.S. participants, so we plan a separate counter or room, with 4-foot breaks in any island wall.

Logistics for ASN Kidney Week 2027, handled
Freeman is ASN's official service contractor for Kidney Week 2027, and in our experience installation on this waterfront building's floor is union work, so we crate to the Freeman advance warehouse and file our EAC form with ASN by August 18. Installation runs Tuesday and Wednesday, October 26 and 27, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and booths must be finished by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Dismantling starts at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 30, never earlier, since early teardown costs Priority Points. Freight rolls in through the building's eight loading dock access points, each hall with its own drive-on entry, and staff can walk over from the Manchester Grand Hyatt or the Marriott Marquis on the marina.

Hall guide
ASN's 2027 prospectus places the Scientific Exposition in Exhibit Hall B of the San Diego Convention Center, with registration and private offices in Hall E. The building lists eight loading dock access points, with a drive-on entry for each hall.
Section B1 alone covers 72,642 square feet, with ceilings from 27 feet 4 inches to 40 feet and a 20-by-16-foot freight door, per the convention center.
Our advice: ASN's 20-foot island cap sits well under this ceiling, so the show rule sets your sign height; we crate large pieces to clear the freight door.
43,350 square feet holding exhibitor registration and ASN's 20×20 Exhibitor Offices for 2027; the office guide says there is no direct access from the main exhibit halls.
Our advice: If you book an office, we brand its entry and plan staff routes, since guests leave the main floor and come in through the Hall E entrance.
When Kidney Week last met here in 2024, the Scientific Exposition filled Halls A to C, with its entrance at Hall B.
Our advice: Once your booth number is assigned, we aim the brand wall and lighting at the path visitors take from the entrance to your aisle.

How much does a booth at Kidney Week 2027 cost?
At Kidney Week the sensible starting point is a 10×20 inline: rentals run $7,500 to $15,000 and custom builds $15,000 to $45,000, while a custom 20×20 island runs $50,000 to $120,000. ASN bills space on top at $44 per square foot inline and $52 for islands in 2027, so a 10×20 costs $8,800 in space before Freeman services. Dialysis hardware weight and freight move our number most.
What is the deadline for island booth drawings at Kidney Week 2027?
Wednesday, August 18, 2027. That day ASN wants layouts for every island of 400 square feet or more and every multilevel booth, plus Exhibitor Appointed Contractor forms, certificates of insurance from you and your contractor, giveaway requests and in-booth presentation requests. We ask for design sign-off in early July so the drawing already shows the 20-foot cap and the see-through walls.
Can we rent a booth for Kidney Week 2027, and what does a rental include?
Yes. A rental covers the frame, printed fabric graphics, lighting, a demo counter with lockable storage and flooring for the whole space, which ASN requires, on one fixed proposal with freight, Freeman orders, install and dismantle. Because ASN bans storage behind the booth, we size the cabinets inside the footprint. The rental comes back to us after October 31, so you have nothing to store.
Can our own staff set up our booth at the San Diego Convention Center?
Not a built booth. Installation in this building is union work and ASN routes all freight through Freeman, so a booth goes up with Freeman labor or an Exhibitor Appointed Contractor filed with ASN by August 18, 2027. Installation runs only October 26 and 27, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and must be complete by 4:30 p.m. on the 27th, so we start on day one.
What giveaways are allowed at ASN Kidney Week?
Only educational items worth $10 or less, under the 2026 rules: pamphlets, textbooks, kidney diet posters and kidney models qualify, while tote bags, water bottles, pens and luggage tags do not. Contests of any kind and adhesive stickers are banned outright. Requests go to ASN in writing by August 18, 2027, so we plan the counter around one approved take-away.
What does drayage cost at the San Diego Convention Center, and who pays it?
Freeman bills material handling to you at its service kit rate; we plan this building at roughly $176 per hundredweight, 200 pounds minimum, for 2026–27. A dialysis machine or lab analyzer in its road case is the heavy line, so we crate it with the booth, ship to the Freeman warehouse on target and show drayage as its own proposal line.
Can we hold presentations in our Kidney Week booth?
Only in a booth of 1,600 square feet or more under ASN's rules, with no microphones or speakers and the audience kept inside your space; schedules are due August 18, 2027. Smaller exhibitors get stage time other ways: Innovation Avenue includes a 20-minute slot on the Innovation Stage, and Exhibitor Spotlights run as 45-minute sessions in theaters on the floor.
Which hall is Kidney Week 2027 in?
ASN's 2027 prospectus places the Scientific Exposition in Exhibit Hall B of the San Diego Convention Center, with exhibitor registration and the 20×20 Exhibitor Offices in Hall E, which has no direct door from the main halls. In 2024 the show used Halls A to C with the entrance at Hall B. Placement follows Priority Points, so we draw for your space once it is assigned.
Can we reuse our Kidney Week booth at other shows?
We build the frame and counters to reconfigure, so a renal diagnostics or dialysis booth can move on to ADLM, the ADA Scientific Sessions or AHA Scientific Sessions with new graphic skins per audience. In between, we store it, update the labeling panels and route it to the advance warehouse the next show assigns.

Kidney Week 2027 runs October 27 to 31, 2027 in San Diego: Early Programs on Wednesday, October 27, and the Annual Meeting October 28 to 31. The Scientific Exposition opens Thursday, October 28 through Saturday, October 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a Welcome Reception in the exhibit hall on Thursday evening.

Through the American Society of Nephrology. Priority Point holders pick space at ranked appointments in January 2027, and new exhibitors apply on the live floor plan from March 2027, first come, first served, with a 50% deposit due on acceptance. Products must be educational and tied to nephrology, medicine or research, and applications after July 9, 2027 need payment in full.
