01 Purple at RSNA 2027

Chicago's RSNA 2027 booths, set back for scanners and capped at 80 decibels

We design RSNA booths so a radiologist can watch a scanner demo or an AI read from inside your setback, with investigational labels already printed on the graphics. At McCormick Place we file your exhibitor-appointed contractor request with RSNA and route crates through the Freeman advance warehouse on West 35th Street.

What makes RSNA different, and how we build for it

RSNA sells next year's floor during this year's meeting. Most contracted exhibitors pick their 2027 booth onsite at RSNA 2026 (the largest select by scheduled call in the weeks before), in the order set by the Technical Exhibits Priority Point System: points for each of the last 20 years exhibited, for staff rooms booked through the RSNA hotel system and for every deposit paid on time. The floor itself is built around radiology's newest work. The AI Showcase took 52,000 square feet of the South Hall in 2026, Innovation Park holds the Startup Showcase, Innovation Theater and Solutions Gallery, and the First-Time Exhibitor Pavilion seats newcomers together. The Exhibit Hall Social is the one window when alcohol and booth games are allowed.

Radiologists and department chairs

Image quality they can judge on a diagnostic-grade monitor, a workflow they recognize from their own reading room, and a seat where a capital purchase or a pilot can be discussed without the aisle listening.

Medical physicists and radiologic technologists

Close access to the gantry, coil or probe, dose and protocol detail, and an applications specialist who can walk through setup, quality control and service at the machine itself.

Imaging administrators and IT leaders

PACS, AI and reporting integration shown end to end, uptime and service terms, and a contact who can map the purchase onto next year's budget cycle.

Rules that shape your booth

Eighty decibels from the aisle

RSNA measures sound from any adjacent aisle and fines $1,000 per decibel over 80 on a second violation, then cuts power on a third (2026 rules). We aim speakers into the booth, add absorptive panels and book your sound check with the floor manager.

Organizer rule

Live scanning needs 400 square feet

Scanning live models requires the RSNA Live Scanning Form, a 510(k)-cleared device, a qualified healthcare professional, registered models and a booth of at least 400 square feet with the demo set five feet back (2026 rules). We size the bay and screen it.

Organizer rule

Investigational devices carry a label

Devices awaiting FDA approval, including PMA and 510(k) devices, and those marketed only outside the United States must be clearly labeled, or RSNA removes them (2026 rules). We print the label onto each product's plinth and every graphic that shows it.

Organizer rule

Island height and setbacks by width

Islands top out at 24 feet, run 20, 50 or 80 feet east to west, and set structure over 8 feet back 1 to 3 feet by width; anything over 12 feet needs a structural engineer (2026 rules). We draw and stamp to those numbers.

Organizer rule

Snacks yes, alcohol only at the Social

Booths may hand out bite-size snacks from the official caterer, serve meals only inside a fully enclosed conference room, and pour alcohol only during the Exhibit Hall Social; raffle prizes cap at $2,000 retail (2026 rules). We build the enclosed room when you plan meals.

Case study · Pixee Medical

Pixee Medical at a medical technology congress

A focused, demo-first booth for augmented-reality surgical guidance, built so every visitor could try the technology while traffic kept moving.

Pixee Medical let visitors test AR surgical guidance while traffic kept flowing; RSNA, which pushes inline demos to the back five feet, rewards that same restraint.

04 Designing for medical imaging equipment, radiology AI and informatics companies at RSNA

Four things we get right for RSNA exhibitors

A woman's hand on the trackball and controls of an ultrasound console1

Demos live in the back five feet

RSNA's inline rules cap the front five feet of the booth at 4 feet high and confine live or video demonstrations to the back five feet, where structure may rise to 8 feet. We put the reading workstations and screens on the back wall and keep the front as a low, open counter.

Radiologic technologist in scrubs taking notes beside an MRI scanner2

Live scanning starts at 400 square feet

Live scanning at RSNA calls for a 510(k)-cleared device, a booth of 400 square feet or more, a demo area set five feet off the aisle and models registered through exhibitor badging. Phantom ultrasound has no size floor. We build a screened bay with a changing nook and a monitor facing the visitors.

3

Label the pending device before Chicago

Devices awaiting FDA approval, investigational or 510(k)-pending, and those sold only outside the United States must carry a clear, conspicuous label at RSNA, or they leave the hall. We print that label into the plinth graphic and scrub every case image, because masking a patient's eyes does not meet RSNA's anonymity rule.

4

Islands come 20, 50 or 80 wide

RSNA islands run 20, 50 or 80 feet east to west, with 1, 2 or 3 feet of setback for structure over 8 feet and counters held 2 to 4 feet off the aisle. Anything over 12 feet needs a structural engineer's stamp, so we send stamped drawings with the island design form.

Logistics for RSNA 2027, handled

Freeman is RSNA's general contractor and controls the McCormick Place docks. In the 2026 cycle the Freeman advance warehouse at 2500 West 35th Street took crates from October 20 to November 12, trucks checked in at the marshaling yard two hours before their target move-in slot, so we ship early and on target. Since the 2010 MPEA reforms your employees can put up the exhibit themselves, yet every crate from dock to booth is still Teamster drayage, charged by weight. Exhibitors and their contractors may not run lifts, so we order Freeman lifts for every sign and truss. We prepare your EAC request for RSNA, and on the floor our project manager leads the build with vetted Chicago labor.

Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for this building are in our McCormick Place exhibitor guide.

Hall guide

In 2026 RSNA's Technical Exhibits fill two halls on Level 3 of McCormick Place. Your hall follows the booth number you pick at onsite selection, so we plan freight and demos once it is set.

South Hall A, Level 3

Booths 1000 to 5999 in 2026, with the 52,000-square-foot AI Showcase, Innovation Park (Startup Showcase, Innovation Theater, Solutions Gallery) and Educators Row.

Our advice: AI and informatics booths here compete with the Showcase's own theater, so we give your workstations hoods against overhead glare and keep demo audio inside the 80-decibel limit.

North Hall B, Level 3

Booths 6000 to 8599 in 2026. In 2025 the hall held the First-Time Exhibitor Pavilion, starting at Booth 8000, and the RSNA Road Trip start line at Booth 7100B.

Our advice: Freight for a North Hall B booth is addressed to the North Building dock, so we label crates by building, hall and booth to keep target move-in on time.

Premium Inline area at the Grand Concourse entrance

The only place RSNA sells 10×20 End-Caps, with a single 10-foot back wall no taller than 8 feet; Premium Inlines here top out at 300 square feet and $45.25 per square foot in 2026.

Our advice: We design End-Cap and Premium Inline booths with the brand on the back wall and an open front, since RSNA allows no hanging signs on either.

What Purple handles

  • Install and dismantle led by our own project manager with vetted local labor
  • Storage between RSNA and your next imaging show

Timeline, counted back from move-in

Priority points counted for RSNA 2027 space selection; merger and co-located booth requests due: October 31, 2026. Your point total on this date sets your appointment order for picking 2027 space onsite at RSNA 2026, so send us your footprint goals before then.

We need design sign-off by early July 2027.

  1. During RSNA 2026 (Nov 29–Dec 2)Onsite space selection for RSNA 2027 during RSNA 2026; we bring a footprint plan for your appointment.
  2. Early July 2027Design sign-off; island, hanging sign and lighting truss drawings stamped by a structural engineer where RSNA requires it.
  3. Late August 2027Island or mobile booth design form filed with RSNA (the 2026 cycle closed it on August 31); live scanning and booth activity forms prepared.
  4. September to mid-October 2027Production in Fishkill, NY over 30 to 45 days; plinths, investigational labels, workstation walls and lighting built and tested.
  5. About 3 weeks before move-inCrates ship to the Freeman advance warehouse; your target move-in slot, Freeman lifts, electrical and RSNAnet orders placed.
  6. November 14–18, 2027RSNA 2027 meeting; the Technical Exhibits close November 17, then we dismantle and send the booth to storage or your next show.

RSNA exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before RSNA

How much does a booth at RSNA 2027 cost?

At RSNA the fitting tier depends on what you show. A software or AI company in a 10×20 rental spends $7,500 to $15,000 on the booth; a scanner on a 20×20 custom island runs $50,000 to $120,000. Stamped engineering, plinths rated for heavy equipment and Freeman rigging move the number. RSNA bills space separately: $41.25 per square foot at its 2026 rate.

When do we pick our booth space for RSNA 2027?

During RSNA 2026, whose Technical Exhibits run November 29 to December 2, 2026. Most contracted exhibitors select 2027 space onsite at an appointment ranked by priority points counted through October 31, 2026, and RSNA holds a webinar on the process on October 21. Space contracted onsite can be cancelled or reduced without penalty until December 31, 2026.

Can we rent a booth for RSNA, and what does a rental include?

A Purple rental for RSNA covers the frame, fabric graphics, LED lighting, workstation counters cut to RSNA's 4-foot front limit and lockable storage for demo hardware, plus freight, install and dismantle on one fixed proposal. Flooring is part of it too, because RSNA makes every exhibitor cover its booth floor. After Chicago the rental returns to us.

Can our own staff set up our booth at McCormick Place?

McCormick Place lets people on your own payroll build the exhibit with their own tools, a right dating to the 2010 MPEA reforms, and RSNA opens designated docks for self-unloading cars and small vans during fixed hours. Freight beyond a small hand carry still moves as Teamster drayage, and only Freeman may operate lifts, so overhead work goes to Freeman.

Can we run live ultrasound scanning in our RSNA booth?

Phantom scanning is allowed anywhere on the floor. Scanning live models requires a signed RSNA Live Scanning Form, a 510(k)-cleared device, a booth of at least 400 square feet, a demo area five feet back from the aisle and sound under 80 decibels (2026 rules). Scans stay on head, neck, upper abdomen and extremities, and contrast is prohibited.

What does drayage cost at McCormick Place for RSNA, and who pays it?

You pay it, billed by weight through Freeman at the exhibitor kit tariff. For McCormick Place we plan on roughly $210 per hundredweight in 2026 and 2027, a 200-pound minimum per shipment, and surcharges of a quarter to a third when freight arrives late, off its target or uncrated. Imaging equipment is heavy, so we price your drayage as its own proposal line.

Which hall will our RSNA booth be in?

In 2026 the Technical Exhibits used South Hall A for booths 1000 to 5999, including the AI Showcase, Innovation Park and Educators Row, and North Hall B for booths 6000 to 8599. Your hall follows the booth you pick at onsite selection, and we route freight to that building's dock once the number is set.

Can we reuse our RSNA booth at other shows?

We build RSNA booths in modules so the same workstation walls and plinths can travel to the SNMMI Annual Meeting, the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting or HIMSS with new graphics. When RSNA closes we hold the kit in our warehouse, and we refit counters and swap investigational labels to match each meeting's rules.

Do you handle Freeman orders and the EAC request for RSNA?

We do both. Your own builder must be registered as an Exhibitor Appointed Contractor in RSNA's Exhibitor Resource Center, and in 2026 that registration closed October 15, so we prepare it for your sign-off early. Then we place the Freeman orders for lifts, rigging, carpet and material handling, plus electrical and RSNAnet, and copy you on each one.

When is RSNA 2027?

RSNA 2027 runs Sunday, November 14 to Thursday, November 18, 2027, the week before U.S. Thanksgiving, and the Technical Exhibits close Wednesday, November 17; their opening day and hours are not confirmed yet. RSNA has already published its later meetings: November 26–30, 2028 and November 11–15, 2029, all at McCormick Place.

Where is RSNA 2027 held?

At McCormick Place, 2301 S King Dr in Chicago, the home RSNA lists for every annual meeting through 2032. In 2026 the Technical Exhibits fill North Hall B and South Hall A, both on Level 3. Two hotels, the Marriott Marquis Chicago and the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, are reached from the halls without stepping outside.

How many people attend RSNA?

RSNA reported nearly 38,000 registrants and 720 exhibitors, 142 of them first-time exhibitors, at its 2025 meeting. The 2024 meeting drew nearly 39,000 registrants and 722 exhibitors, and 2023 counted 40,661 registrants and 691 exhibitors.

Is RSNA open to the public?

No. Exhibit hall access is limited to qualified exhibitors, professional registrants and guests, badges are non-transferable, and children under 16 are not allowed on the exhibit floor. Exhibitors may not badge radiologists or other people eligible for professional registration as booth staff.

How do we get a booth at RSNA?

The Radiological Society of North America sells the space through RSNA Exhibition Services. New exhibitors apply on RSNA's space application and may choose the First-Time Exhibitor Pavilion, while returning exhibitors pick next year's booth onsite in priority-point order. Payment runs in three installments, and staff rooms go through the RSNA hotel system.

Before you sign with anyone

Five questions to ask any exhibit builder for RSNA:

  1. Is every fee on the proposal, including what the show contractor bills?
  2. Who builds the booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
  3. Will your project manager be on the floor for install and dismantle?
  4. What exactly is in the rental, and what is billed by the show?
  5. Where does the booth go after the show, and what does storage cost?

Common situations

Already own a booth? We refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it, install it and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for.

Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager answering your emails in your time zone.

Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready in two to three weeks. We tell you on the first call what is realistic for your date.
