Frac engineers, two show days: HFTC 2027 booths in The Woodlands

HFTC visitors are completions engineers who read a pump curve or a proppant spec before they read your logo, so we build around the part and the data. At The Woodlands Waterway Marriott, Freeman runs freight, Pinnacle Live owns power and rigging, and nothing comes through the hotel lobby.

  • Feb 2–4, 2027 · The Woodlands

What makes HFTC different, and how we build for it

HFTC is the Society of Petroleum Engineers' meeting built only around hydraulic fracturing, and the exhibition sits inside the conference rather than beside it.Coffee breaks run on the exhibit floor, exhibitor registration includes lunch on Level 3, and the hall is open just two days before move-out starts at 5 p.m. Wednesday. SPE's 2027 map lists 150 exhibitors, from Halliburton, SLB and Liberty Energy to proppant suppliers, chemistry firms and frac-modeling software, across Level 1, Level 3 and outdoor space. SPE enforces strict photography rules and fines early teardown $1,000 plus 10 priority points, so an HFTC booth has to be complete, technical and staffed to the last minute.

Completions and stimulation engineers

The real component, a cutaway or a test curve close enough to study: pump fluid ends, seats and plugs, proppant samples, chemical performance data and frac diagnostics on a screen.

Operator decision-makers

Field results from named basins, cost per stage or per lateral foot, and a quiet table to talk fleet contracts between technical sessions.

Service-company and fleet staff

Equipment they can touch and maintenance details they can use: wear-part life, electric fleet power options, sensor data and how fast a spare arrives in the basin.

Your team in The Woodlands

Built in two shops, run by one project manager

We build in our own production shop in Fishkill, NY, and our Las Vegas hub, ship to the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, and install with our own project manager on the floor and vetted local labor. Every HFTC build runs a predictable 30 to 45 days and gets a pre-show QA, with secure storage after.

The booth is lit and stocked when your team reaches the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center. You just show up.

Rules that shape your HFTC booth

Linear walls stop at 8 feet 3

SPE's booth specifications (2026 edition) cap linear back walls at 8 feet 3 inches in the rear half, hold the front half to 4 feet and ban hanging signs over linear booths. We draw every inline HFTC booth to those lines before production.

Organizer rule

No flammables or compressed gas

HFTC rules prohibit flammable liquids, gases and solids and compressed gases in exhibits, and open-flame or high-heat effects need special approval. We show pumps, engines and tools dry and use screens for anything that would need fuel.

Organizer rule

Vehicles: quarter tank, batteries off

Indoor vehicles and fueled equipment may carry no more than a quarter tank, sealed and locked, with battery cables disconnected, and SPE needs 72 hours' notice. We stage any truck-mounted display to that checklist with Freeman.

Organizer rule

Early teardown costs $1,000

Move-out starts at 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, and any earlier dismantling brings a $1,000 fine and the loss of 10 priority points. Our project manager starts teardown at the close, not before.

Organizer rule

Sound stays under 85 decibels

SPE treats any sound that consistently exceeds 85 decibels at the edge of a booth as objectionable and can stop it. We point speakers into the booth and use captioned video for pump and fleet demos.

Popular booth sizes at HFTC

SPE sells HFTC space through its sales team after a new-exhibitor review and does not publish rates; booths range from 10-foot-deep linear rows to peninsulas, islands and outdoor space. We recommend a 10×20 linear for a component and data story, and a 20×30 or larger peninsula when you want a hanging sign.

04 Designing for pressure pumping, proppant, completions chemistry, frac equipment and diagnostics companies at HFTC

Four things we get right for HFTC exhibitors

Rows of steel tubes stored on racks in a warehouse1

Respect the linear height line

SPE's booth specifications cap linear back walls at 8 feet 3 inches, only in the rear half, with everything forward held to 4 feet, and allow taller physical equipment at SPE's discretion. We put the tall hardware at the back, keep graphics under the line and leave sightlines open.

Engineer in a white hard hat inspecting machinery overhead2

No fuel, no compressed gas

HFTC rules ban flammable liquids, gases and compressed gases in exhibits, and indoor equipment with fuel tanks may hold no more than a quarter tank with batteries disconnected. We show pumps and engines dry and drained, and simulate operation on screen.

Worker in a hard hat tightening a chain hoist on industrial equipment3

Two days, many breaks

Coffee breaks are held on the exhibit floor both days, and the Tuesday reception runs from 5 to 6 p.m. Traffic comes in waves, so we design a booth two people can run at the peak, with samples and data sheets reachable without crossing the aisle.

Pumpjack and well-site tanks on flat ground under an overcast sky4

Level 1 or Level 3 changes the plan

HFTC exhibits sit on Level 1 and Level 3 of The Woodlands Waterway Marriott, with different move-out times. We confirm your level, plan freight to the right dock and size crates for the route, because loading through the Marriott lobby is not allowed.

Where you could be at HFTC 2027

HFTC uses two exhibit levels at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, plus outdoor booth space; SPE's floor plan has a main map and a Level 3 map.

ALevel 1 exhibits
BLevel 3 exhibits
COutdoor booths

A

Level 1 exhibits

The main exhibit floor; move-out here starts at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3.

Our advice Heavier equipment usually belongs on the main level; we confirm floor-load limits with SPE before engineering any base.

B

Level 3 exhibits

The upper exhibit area beside the Level 3 luncheons, with move-out from 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Our advice Lunch traffic passes these booths both days; we plan lighter crates and a later teardown crew for Level 3.

C

Outdoor booths

SPE sells outdoor exhibit space, which comes with 20 guest invitations and 20 full registrations; tents with air conditioning must route condensate to drains.

Our advice Outdoor space suits a full-size pump or trailer display; we plan tent, power and condensate lines with Pinnacle Live and Freeman.

HFTC exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before HFTC

When is HFTC 2027?

The 2027 SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition runs February 2–4, 2027. The exhibition is open Tuesday, February 2, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, February 3, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the technical program continues on Thursday.

Where is HFTC 2027 held?

At The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, 1601 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands, Texas, north of Houston. Exhibits are on Level 1 and Level 3, and the exhibitor luncheons are served on Level 3.

Who exhibits at HFTC?

SPE's 2027 floor plan lists 150 exhibitors: pressure pumpers and service companies such as Halliburton, SLB and Liberty Energy, proppant suppliers, completions chemistry firms, plug and tool makers, frac fleet equipment builders and diagnostics and modeling software companies.

How much does a booth at HFTC cost?

SPE does not publish HFTC space rates; new exhibitors submit a details form and a sales manager quotes the space. Our booth is separate: a 10×20 rental runs $7,500 to $15,000, and a custom peninsula or island $50,000 to $120,000 depending on equipment and meeting space.

How do we get a booth at HFTC 2027?

New exhibitors submit SPE's New Exhibitor details form, and after review a sales representative makes contact; companies A to L and M to Z have separate managers. Returning exhibitors book through SPE's returning-exhibitor process. The homepage describes the 2027 floor as fully booked.

How many badges does an HFTC exhibitor get?

Each company gets three complimentary full registrations per 100 square feet and may buy up to twice that number. Extra exhibitor registrations cost $400 by January 6, $475 from January 7 to 31 and $550 from February 1 to 4, 2027.

Can we invite customers to HFTC?

Exhibitors receive three complimentary one-day guest invitations per 100 square feet of indoor space; outdoor booths receive 20 invitations and 20 full registrations. Extra invitations cost $85 each, must be bought in advance, exclude lunch and cannot go to your own staff.

Can we hang a sign over our HFTC booth?

Only over larger spaces. SPE's booth specifications (2026 edition, the latest posted) allow hanging signs over islands and over peninsula, split-island and walk-thru booths of 20×30 or larger, up to 25 feet to the top of the sign, and never over linear booths. For 2027, Pinnacle Live handles hanging for 20×20 islands and larger.

Can we display a frac pump or heavy equipment at HFTC?

Heavy equipment is allowed within the floor-loading limits of the exhibit area, and you must file Freeman's Heavy Equipment Form by January 4, 2027. Fuel is limited to a quarter tank, sealed, with batteries disconnected, and SPE needs 72 hours' notice for any vehicle.

Can we take photos at HFTC?

In your own booth, at any time the exhibition is open. Shooting video or photos elsewhere in the sessions or exhibition areas is prohibited, and outside photographers need SPE Press Room permission and an EAC badge. Drones are not permitted indoors or outdoors.

Can our own contractor build the HFTC booth?

SPE allows Exhibitor Appointed Contractors when the EAC Agreement is submitted by January 4, 2027 and insurance is uploaded through SPE's link. EAC crews check in at the freight door each morning with photo ID. We file all of it as your contractor.

Where do HFTC exhibitors stay?

The Woodlands Waterway Marriott holds the SPE block at $273 per night under group code SPE. Book only through the official link or directly with the hotel; duplicate rooms under one name are released back to the block.

When do we need to decide on our HFTC booth?

Sign off the design by mid-December 2026. The EAC, co-exhibitor, late set-up and heavy-equipment forms are due January 4, 2027, Freeman's warehouse opens January 25, and the booth has to be finished by 5 p.m. on February 1.

Can we reuse the HFTC booth at NAPE or OTC?

NAPE Summit opens in Houston the same week, February 3–5, 2027, so the same graphics often travel; a modular frac-equipment display also adapts to OTC at NRG Park in May. We store the booth and swap panels between shows.

Before you sign for HFTC

Ask any HFTC exhibit builder these five questions:

  1. Is each fee on the proposal, even the ones the show contractor bills?
  2. Does your own shop build the booth, or do you subcontract it?
  3. Who from your team is on the HFTC floor for install and dismantle?
  4. What exactly is in the rental, and what does HFTC bill?
  5. Once HFTC closes, where does the booth go and what does storage cost?

Common situations

Already own a booth? We refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it to the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, install it and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for and bring it to HFTC.

Exhibiting from outside the US? For HFTC, we act as your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, and one project manager who answers your emails in your time zone.

Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready for HFTC in two to three weeks. You will know on the first call what is realistic for your HFTC date.
