First buyers of the season: IESNA 2027 solar and storage booths in San Diego

IESNA opens the U.S. solar year, so installers, EPCs and distributors arrive with budgets to place; your booth has to show the module, inverter or battery and its install story in one look. At the San Diego Convention Center we plan around a union floor and a February move-in.

  • Feb 9–11, 2027 · San Diego
  • 314 exhibitors in 2026
  • Hall open 10 a.m. daily

What makes IESNA different, and how we build for it

IESNA is the first big U.S. solar and storage show of the year, run by Diversified since it bought Intersolar North America in 2019 and merged in Energy Storage North America a year later. The floor leans residential and C&I: installers, EPCs and distributors come to line up product for the season, and 78% of 2026 attendees held purchasing power. Live installs in the Solar Games Stadium, interviews on the Hub Stage powered by SunCast Media, the Manufacturing Pavilion for cell and module production equipment, a Startup Pavilion and the Key Buyer Program shape the traffic. For 2027 Diversified adds a C&I and utility-scale conference track and a new Demo Stage.

Installers and contractors

They want to see how fast a rail, a microinverter or a battery wall goes up, what it costs per watt and who ships it; the Solar Games crowd judges kit by install time and safety.

EPCs and developers

C&I and utility-scale buyers ask about tariff exposure, domestic content, FEOC compliance and delivery slots, and want an engineer to walk through single-line drawings, not a sales script.

Distributors

Regional distributors compare margins, stock depth and training support for the year; a clear product family wall with SKUs and a sit-down table for line reviews keeps them in the booth.

Your team in San Diego

Two shops and one project manager for IESNA

Your IESNA booth is built in our own production shop in Fishkill, NY, or at our Las Vegas hub, shipped to the San Diego Convention Center and installed by vetted local labor with our own project manager on the floor. Expect a 30–45-day build for IESNA, secure storage and a pre-show QA.

Your team arrives at IESNA to a lit, stocked booth. You just show up.

New at IESNA 2027

  1. A Demo Stage on the exhibit floor

IESNA adds a live Demo Stage in the hall where engineering leads walk through product builds. Booths that can repeat a build at a low platform catch the people leaving each session. source

  2. C&I and utility-scale conference track

The 2027 program is a 13-session line-up spanning residential, C&I and utility-scale, a shift from the show's residential focus. Expect more EPC and developer buyers, so bring commercial and utility product into the booth story. source

  3. Earlier dates in February

IESNA moves from February 18–20 in 2026 to February 9–11 in 2027, nine days earlier, which pulls production and freight into the holiday weeks. source

IESNA rules that shape your booth

Startup Pavilion eligibility

The Startup Pavilion is open only to companies with fewer than 20 employees, under three years in business and solar, storage or EV technology, for up to two years. We fit graphics, a counter and lighting inside the 10×10 package and its 5-amp drop.

Organizer rule

Room blocks named by December 17

Exhibitor blocks of 10 or more rooms through Maritz need a guest name on every room by 5 p.m. EST on December 17, 2026, or the rooms are released. We send the staff roster to your booth contact before that date.

Organizer rule

Only the primary contact registers staff

IESNA lets only the Primary Booth Contact register booth staff and add their housing in the exhibitor portal. We give that person a complete staff and room list in one file so the roster goes in once.

Organizer rule

Short Thursday hall hours

IESNA's 2027 schedule closes the hall at 2 p.m. on February 11 after two full days ending at 5 p.m., with the Solar Games championship that day. We schedule dismantle after 2 p.m. and plan freight pickup for Thursday evening.

02 Booths & pricing for IESNA 2027

Popular booth sizes at IESNA

IESNA prices floor space by quote from its account executives, with no published rate card, and its Startup Pavilion sells a fixed 10×10 package. Module, inverter and storage brands showing hardware usually take a 10×20 or a 20×20; we recommend an island once you show a working battery wall plus an installer demo.

04 Designing for solar module, inverter, energy storage, mounting, EV charging and solar software brands at IESNA

Four things we get right for IESNA exhibitors

Close-up of solar panels mounted on a tiled roof1

Design for the Demo Stage era

IESNA adds a Demo Stage for 2027 where engineering leads walk through product builds. Buyers who watch a build there come to your booth expecting the same: we design a low install platform with a roof section or rack so your engineer can repeat the build at the booth.

Team of workers installing solar panels on a sunny day2

Show the install, not the brochure

The Solar Games crowd scores teams on installation quality, safety and speed. We put your racking, connectors or battery mounts on a working mockup at a height an installer can reach, with a stopwatch-style graphic of install time beside it.

Neighborhood of red tile roofs fitted with solar panels in sunshine3

One wall per buyer segment

IESNA 2027 widens from residential to C&I and utility-scale content. We split the back wall into labeled bays for each segment, so an EPC and a residential installer both find their product in a few seconds without a staff member translating.

Drone view of a grid of solar panels across a large commercial rooftop4

Hours are short on Thursday

Doors to the hall stay open seven hours on February 9 and 10 but only four on February 11, closing at 2 p.m. We plan staffing, meeting slots and any demo schedule so the strongest product moments land on the first two days.

Where you could be at IESNA 2027

IESNA has not published which San Diego Convention Center halls it uses in 2027. These are the spaces this building offers and what each means for a solar or storage booth.

AExhibit Halls A to G

A

Exhibit Halls A to G

About 615,701 sq ft of contiguous exhibit space on the waterfront level, served by the docks off Harbor Drive.

Our advice Battery cabinets and roof mockups come through the docks with the official contractor; we size crates to the dock and plan forklift time early.

B

Sails Pavilion

About 90,000 sq ft of ballroom-style space under the building's sail roof, with its own rigging points, often used for registration and receptions.

Our advice If your sponsorship includes a reception or lounge here, we build freestanding graphics because rigging differs from the halls.

C

Rooftop terrace

About 204,000 sq ft of outdoor event space with bay views, exposed to wind off the water.

Our advice For an outdoor activation we specify weighted bases and mesh graphics that hold up in a February breeze.

Logistics for IESNA 2027, handled

Labor at the waterfront center on Harbor Drive is union, so IESNA installs and teardowns follow the labor agreements of the official contractor, and each crate travels from the docks on Harbor Drive through the show's official contractor. IESNA does not post its exhibitor manual publicly, so we work from the kit once your booth is contracted: we file the forms, book material handling and order electrical in one layout. Our project manager runs the install with vetted Southern California labor, and we ship to the advance warehouse ahead of a February move-in. Purple's planning estimate for San Diego drayage is about $176 per hundredweight in 2026 and 2027.

Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for the building that hosts IESNA are in our San Diego Convention Center exhibitor guide.

What Purple handles

  • Install-demo platforms and roof mockups
  • Back walls split by residential, C&I and utility buyer
  • Exhibitor kit forms, electrical and material handling
  • Union-floor installation with our project manager
  • Startup Pavilion graphics and counters within the 10×10 package
  • Storage and reuse for RE+ and CLEANPOWER later in the year

IESNA timeline, counted back from move-in

Guest names due on IESNA hotel room blocks of 10+ rooms (5 p.m. EST): December 17, 2026. Rooms without a unique guest name are released, so we need your booth staff list before mid-December to hold the team's rooms near the convention center.

For IESNA, we need design sign-off by mid-November 2026.

  1. Now to early November 2026Book space with IESNA sales; send product list, weights and the install demo you want to run.
  2. Mid-November 2026Design sign-off, about 10 weeks before move-in: walls, demo platform, lighting and graphics approved.
  3. Late November to December 2026Production over 30 to 45 days; roof mockup and battery wall dry-fitted before crating.
  4. December 17, 2026Guest names due on any IESNA hotel room block of 10 or more rooms; unnamed rooms are released.
  5. January 2027Contractor, electrical and lead retrieval orders filed; freight ships to the advance warehouse in San Diego.
  6. February 9–11, 2027Exhibit hall open; our project manager stays on site, then dismantles after 2 p.m. Thursday.

Purple's planning timeline for IESNA. Move-in, freight target and order deadlines are set by the IESNA exhibitor kit and your assigned schedule; we confirm them for your booth once you book.

IESNA exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before IESNA

When is Intersolar North America 2027?

IESNA Flagship 2027 runs Tuesday, February 9 through Thursday, February 11, 2027 in San Diego. Booths take visitors from 10 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon on the first two days and until 2 on Thursday, and opening keynotes start at 9 a.m. on February 9 and 10.

Where is IESNA 2027 held?

IESNA 2027 takes over the San Diego Convention Center on the downtown waterfront, beside the Gaslamp Quarter; the 2025 and 2026 Flagship events were also in San Diego. The 1,950-space garage under the building is run by ACE Parking, with rates paid on entry and no in-and-out privileges.

How much does a booth at IESNA cost?

IESNA does not publish a booth rate card; space is quoted by its sales team. The one published price is the Startup Pavilion, a 10×10 package for $3,400 in 2027. Our build is separate: a 10×20 rental runs $7,500 to $15,000 and a 20×20 custom island $50,000 to $120,000.

What is the IESNA Startup Pavilion?

A discounted area for companies with fewer than 20 employees, under three years in business and solar, storage or EV technology. The $3,400 package includes pipe and drape, ID sign, table, chair, carpet, a 5-amp drop and 5 badges, and a company may join for up to two years.

How many people attend Intersolar North America?

IESNA 2025 brought together nearly 500 exhibitors and more than 9,000 visitors from 59 countries and all 50 states. IESNA 2026 reported 314 exhibiting companies, with 78% of attendees holding purchasing power. Attendance for 2027 is not confirmed yet.

Who exhibits at IESNA 2027?

The 2027 list already includes module makers Qcells North America, JA Solar USA, Boviet Solar and REC Americas, inverter and storage brands Fronius USA, Tigo Energy, Sol-Ark and FranklinWH, racking from IronRidge and Unirac, and transformer makers such as Virginia Transformer.

Who attends IESNA?

IESNA draws EPCs, developers, residential, C&I and utility-scale installers, manufacturers and distributors, and 78% of 2026 attendees held purchasing power, per IESNA. The Key Buyer Program also hosts selected EPC, developer, utility and finance buyers with active project pipelines.

Can we run a live demo at IESNA?

Demos are part of this floor: the Solar Games build solar and storage systems live in the exhibit hall, and the 2027 edition adds a Demo Stage for product builds. For a booth demo we plan the platform, power and safety setback with the show's rules once your kit opens.

Where do IESNA exhibitors stay?

Rooms are booked through Maritz, the official housing provider, inside the registration portal as booth staff are added. Blocks of 10 or more rooms need a guest name on every reservation by 5 p.m. EST on December 17, 2026; unnamed rooms are released after that.

Can we hold meetings at IESNA?

The Braindate Lounge in the exhibit hall hosts booked one-on-one and small-group sessions for all attendees, and the Key Buyer Program arranges introductions to its selected buyers. For private customer meetings we build a semi-enclosed table area inside your booth.

Is IESNA open to the public?

IESNA is a registered industry event for solar, storage and EV professionals, with passes sold through its registration pages and Early Bird pricing until November 30, 2026. Startup Pavilion exhibitors get unlimited free expo hall invitations to hand to customers and prospects.

Is IESNA worth it compared with RE+?

IESNA is smaller and earlier: 314 exhibitors in February 2026 against RE+'s 1,325 in 2025, with a residential and C&I installer crowd. It suits module, inverter, racking and storage brands chasing distributors and installers before the season; RE+ suits utility-scale and grid equipment.

Does IESNA have other events?

Diversified also runs IESNA Midwest, June 14–16, 2027 in Rosemont, Illinois, and IESNA Texas, which ran September 1–2, 2026 in Dallas; Texas 2027 details are not confirmed yet. One booth built for the Flagship can be reworked for a regional floor.

We are an overseas manufacturer. Can you build our IESNA booth?

We handle the U.S. side for manufacturers from India, Asia and Europe: design, production, freight to the advance warehouse, contractor orders, installation with our project manager and storage for the next show. Customs clearance stays with your forwarder, and visa letters come through IESNA registration.

Before you sign for IESNA

Five questions to ask any exhibit builder for IESNA:

  1. Does the proposal list every fee, including the show contractor's bills?
  2. Is the booth built in your own shop or by a subcontractor?
  3. Will your own project manager be at IESNA for install and dismantle?
  4. For IESNA, what is in the rental and what is billed by the show?
  5. Where does the booth go after IESNA, and what does storage cost?

Common situations

Already own a booth? Your existing booth gets refreshed graphics and repairs, then we ship it to San Diego, install it and store it between shows. You keep using the structure you already paid for.

Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground in San Diego: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager answering your emails in your time zone.

Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready for IESNA in two to three weeks. We tell you on the first call what is realistic for your date.
