Co-op buyers, union hands: TechAdvantage 2027 booths in San Diego
Co-op CEOs, line superintendents and IT managers walk this expo to compare hardware they will buy for their own systems, so we build for touch and comparison. In Halls D to G union crews install everything, and we schedule that labor before the Monday noon carpet deadline.
- Feb 15–17 expo · SDCC D–G
- 351 exhibitors on 2027 map
- $40/sq ft NRECA members
What makes TechAdvantage different, and how we build for it
TechAdvantage is where America's electric cooperatives buy.NRECA runs it alongside PowerXchange, its member meeting, so the same expo draws both the co-op engineers who specify equipment and the CEOs and directors who approve it. Novack Management runs the Expo at PowerXchange and TechAdvantage in Halls D to G, Shepard Exposition Services is the contractor, and Startup Alley puts 15 young companies on the floor. NRECA notes that distribution co-ops own 42% of U.S. distribution lines and spend more than $9 billion a year on system assets. Space for 2028 in New Orleans is chosen in January 2027 by priority points, so how you exhibit in San Diego decides where you stand next year.
They come for PowerXchange and walk the expo with budget authority; they want the outcome for members, the cost over time and a name they can call.
They compare transformers, reclosers, conductor, poles and line tools side by side, so the real product at hand height wins over a render.
Co-ops run AMI, fiber and billing systems with small teams; they want a seated demo, references from other co-ops and lead times they can plan around.
Your team in San Diego
Two shops behind your TechAdvantage booth
We fabricate in our own Fishkill, NY shop and our Las Vegas hub, then ship to the San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Halls D, E, F & G, where our own project manager leads the install with vetted local labor. A predictable 30–45-day turnaround, secure storage and a pre-show QA before TechAdvantage.
Your team arrives at TechAdvantage to a lit, stocked booth. You just show up.
New at TechAdvantage 2027
- February in San Diego
After Nashville’s Music City Center in March 2026, the expo moves to San Diego Convention Center Halls D to G for February 15–17, 2027. The 2027 manual gives the painters and decorators union all display installation, so budget for union crews on every element. source
- Showcare takes over housing and registration
NRECA has moved to a new registration and housing platform with Showcare as its official partner, and emails come from both NRECA and Showcare. Add Showcare to your safe senders so badge and hotel messages reach your booth team. source
Inside TechAdvantage 2027
TechAdvantage rules that shape your booth
The painters and decorators union installs displays, backdrops and flooring; exhibitors may use no tools, and one full-time employee may work 30 minutes without tools at each end. We book supervised union labor through Shepard by January 21 and direct it on site.
Every booth must be carpeted or covered by 12 p.m. Monday, February 15, or NRECA installs carpet at your cost and can take back an unfurnished space. We schedule the floor first on Sunday so the deadline is never at risk.
Inline backwalls top out at 8 feet with 4-foot side walls, perimeter booths at 14 feet, and islands of 400 square feet or more at 20 feet, the only booths allowed a hanging sign. We draw each element to its limit and order rigging with Shepard.
Display trucks carry a quarter tank or five gallons at most, sealed caps, disconnected batteries and a drip pan, and never move during show hours; EVs stay switched off. We mark the vehicle on the floor plan and build the display around it.
Operating equipment with moving parts or debris, and trailers, must be set one foot back from the aisle line. We build a raised edge or rail at that line so a live tool demo stays inside the rule.
Programs worth planning for
Fifteen independent startups (fewer than 25 employees, no more than $15M raised, under six years old) get a table, power and Wi-Fi on the expo floor for $750 each, plus a short pitch slot during the expo.
The expo opens Monday, February 15 from 4:45 to 7 p.m. with a reception in the exhibit hall, the first time PowerXchange and TechAdvantage attendees meet exhibitors.

TechAdvantage is the U.S. buying floor for electric cooperatives; choose it over APPA's E&O Conference when your customers are co-ops rather than city-owned utilities, and over DTECH when you sell line hardware more than software. 02 Booths & pricing for TechAdvantage 2027
Popular booth sizes at TechAdvantage
Novack Management prices the expo per square foot with a 10×10 minimum, offering inline, perimeter and island booths. Hardware makers and vehicle builders take 20×20 islands or larger, while software, metering and service firms use 10×20 and 10×30 inlines. We recommend a 10×20 for one product line, and an island when you bring a truck or several product families.

Case study · KLEEMANN
KLEEMANN at an industrial technology exhibition
A global elevator manufacturer’s interactive booth: real product showcases, digital simulations and a floor plan that guided visitors from the first step to the last.
KLEEMANN's exhibit put real product and simulations in reach so buyers could judge an elevator by hand; co-op engineers at TechAdvantage judge hardware the same way.

04 Designing for line hardware, transformer, metering, utility vehicle, broadband and grid software suppliers to electric cooperatives at TechAdvantage
Four things we get right for TechAdvantage exhibitors
1Build for the Monday evening opening
The expo opens Monday, February 15 at 4:45 p.m. with the Grand Opening Reception in the hall, after a noon carpet deadline. We finish installation Sunday and Monday morning so your team stands ready when PowerXchange delegates walk in with a drink in hand.
2Hardware at hand height
Line superintendents judge connectors, cutouts and conductor by handling them. We mount products on rated counters at hand height and keep the TechAdvantage 350-pound-per-square-foot floor load in mind for transformers and reels.
3Trucks follow the fire marshal
Vehicles on display carry no more than a quarter tank or five gallons, a locking or sealed fuel cap, disconnected battery cables and a drip pan; EV batteries are disconnected. We plan the truck's spot on the floor plan and dress the area around it.
4Sound stays at 85 dB
NRECA allows booth audio only at conversational levels of 85 dB and can switch it off. Demo videos run with captions and directional speakers, so a co-op manager can follow your story on a busy Tuesday without competing with the neighbor.

Where you could be at TechAdvantage 2027
NRECA's 2027 exhibitor manual places the expo in four connected halls of the San Diego Convention Center, with support spaces around them. Here is what each part means for your booth.
Exhibit Halls D to G
The expo floor for 2027, with a 350-pound-per-square-foot floor load and no drilling into the concrete or fixing anything to columns.
Our advice Heavy transformers and reels are fine within the load limit; we plan weighted bases rather than anchors, since nothing may be fixed to the floor.
Hall D lobby and registration
Badges are picked up from 7 a.m. Sunday, February 14 at the Main registration desk on the ground level of Hall D, beside the FedEx Office business center.
Our advice Last-minute printing happens at the FedEx Office in the Hall D lobby; we still ship finished graphics with the booth to avoid that rush.
Exhibitor Service Center, across from Hall G
Shepard, the convention center and other contractors staff the desk from 8 a.m. Sunday, February 14; the Expo Management Office is Show Office D on the Mezzanine.
Our advice Our project manager handles service-desk changes in person, so your team can stay at the booth during move-in.
05 San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Halls D, E, F & G · San Diego
Logistics for TechAdvantage 2027, handled
TechAdvantage fills Exhibit Halls D, E, F and G of the San Diego Convention Center, with the Exhibitor Service Center across from Hall G. Shepard Exposition Services is the general contractor, the advance warehouse opens January 15, 2027, and February 5 is the last day to ship there without extra fees. We file the EAC notice with insurance by January 21 and supervise union labor with our own project manager.

TechAdvantage exhibitor questions
Questions exhibitors ask us before TechAdvantage
When is TechAdvantage 2027?
PowerXchange and TechAdvantage 2027 run February 14–17, 2027 in San Diego. The expo opens Monday, February 15 from 4:45 to 7 p.m. with the Grand Opening Reception, then Tuesday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where is TechAdvantage 2027 held?
The 2027 expo uses Exhibit Halls D, E, F and G of the San Diego Convention Center on Harbor Drive downtown. Badges are picked up at the Main registration desk on the ground level of Hall D, and the Exhibitor Service Center sits across from Hall G.
How much does booth space at TechAdvantage cost?
NRECA members pay $40 per square foot and non-members $42, with a 10×10 minimum, so a 10×20 inline costs $8,000 for a member. That covers floor space only; your exhibit is separate, and a 10×20 rental from us usually lands between $7,500 and $15,000.
How many people attend TechAdvantage?
NRECA's 2027 prospectus cites 9,000+ registrants, 600+ CEOs and 978 co-ops represented from 50 states and abroad. The 2027 floor plan lists 351 exhibitors so far; the 2026 Nashville map listed 459.
Who exhibits at TechAdvantage?
Suppliers to electric cooperatives: transformer makers such as ERMCO and Howard Industries, protection and automation firms like Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories and S&C Electric, utility truck builders such as Altec and Terex Utilities, plus metering, broadband, GIS and billing providers like Landis+Gyr, Calix and NISC.
Can we set up our own booth at TechAdvantage?
Only briefly: one full-time employee may work 30 minutes without tools at move-in and 30 at move-out. Exhibitors may not use any tools, and the painters and decorators union installs displays and flooring. Your staff may unpack and place the products you make.
Can we bring a bucket truck or vehicle?
Static vehicles are allowed with fire marshal approval: a quarter tank or five gallons at most, a locking or taped fuel cap, battery cables disconnected, a drip pan under the drive train and no moving during show hours. Electric vehicles must have the battery or ignition fuse disconnected.
How tall can a TechAdvantage booth be?
Inline backwalls stop at 8 feet with 4-foot side walls; perimeter booths may reach 14 feet. Islands of 400 square feet or more may build to 20 feet and hang a sign, which may not exceed 20 feet in height, rigged through Shepard.
What are the TechAdvantage 2027 exhibitor deadlines?
Most Shepard orders are due January 21, 2027: custom rentals and flooring, the EAC notice with insurance, graphics, rigging, labor and standard orders. Electrical and plumbing follow January 25, internet January 26 and audio-visual January 31. The advance warehouse receives from January 15 to February 9, without late fees through February 5.
How many badges come with a TechAdvantage booth?
Each company receives two Exhibitor Full Conference badges per 100 square feet of space. Extra Full Conference badges cost $650 and Booth Personnel badges, which cover the expo only, cost $175. Badge registration opens in mid-November 2026.
Can we serve food or give away prizes at TechAdvantage?
Food and alcohol may not be given away in a booth unless it is part of NRECA's sponsorship program, and cooking and popcorn are banned. Giveaways are allowed, but prizes are not announced on the hall's public address system, and no sales may close on the floor.
Who books hotels for TechAdvantage?
Showcare is NRECA's official housing and registration company for 2027, a new partner this year, and NRECA says it will never call you to sell rooms. Lead retrieval and housing details open in mid-November 2026.
How do we get space at TechAdvantage 2028?
Space selection for the 2028 expo in New Orleans happens online in January 2027 by priority points: 10 for exhibiting in 2027, one per 100 square feet, up to 100 for NRECA membership, up to 150 for sponsorship and 20 for each ad. Points reset every year.
Is TechAdvantage worth exhibiting at?
For suppliers to the nation's distribution co-ops it is the one floor where engineers and CEOs arrive together, and NRECA reports co-ops spend more than $9 billion a year on system assets. A smaller co-op specialist can pair it with APPA's E&O Conference for public power.
Before you sign for TechAdvantage
Five things to ask every builder quoting TechAdvantage:
- Is every fee on the proposal, including what the TechAdvantage show contractor bills?
- Who builds the TechAdvantage booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
- Will your project manager be on the floor at the San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Halls D, E, F & G for install and dismantle?
- What exactly is in the rental, and what does TechAdvantage bill?
- Once TechAdvantage closes, where does the booth go and what does storage cost?
Common situations
Already own a booth? We refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it to the San Diego Convention Center, Exhibit Halls D, E, F & G, install it and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for and bring it to TechAdvantage.
Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager answering your emails in your time zone.
Short on time? A TechAdvantage rental carrying your graphics can be ready in two to three weeks. You will know on the first call what is realistic for your TechAdvantage date.
