What makes Light + Intelligent Building North America different, and how we build for it

This is the show that replaces LightFair.Messe Frankfurt, the Illuminating Engineering Society and the International Association of Lighting Designers, the partners that co-owned LightFair, launched it in November 2025 as part of the global Light + Building family and widened it from lighting into controls and building automation. The Central Hall floor is split into three sectors, Lighting, Building Technology and Accessories/Components, and the Lighting sector gets a darkened area, not a full blackout, so luminaires can be judged in low light. Three on-floor theatres, the Illumination Forum, Intelligent Building Forum and Components Forum, run beside an Interoperability Lab, while the Luminary Leaders program flies in hosted buyers who must meet at least ten exhibitors.

Lighting designers and specifiers

Fixtures they can see working in a dark setting, beam, color and glare shown honestly, photometric files on request and a quick answer to whether your product fits their next project.

Integrators, MEP engineers and facility operators

Proof of interoperability with the controls and building systems they already run, live dashboards, protocol details and someone who can talk commissioning rather than catalog pages.

OEM engineers, distributors and lighting reps

Drivers, LEDs, optics and sensors with full specs, lead times and customization options, plus a quiet corner to talk pricing and supply.

Your team in Las Vegas

Built in two shops, run by one project manager

We fabricate in our own Fishkill, NY shop and our Las Vegas hub, then ship to the Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall, where our own project manager leads the install with vetted local labor. Every Light + Intelligent Building North America build runs a predictable 30 to 45 days and gets a pre-show QA, with secure storage after.

At Light + Intelligent Building North America, your team walks into a booth that is lit and stocked. You just show up.

New at Light + Intelligent Building North America 2027

  1. A new show, not a renamed LightFair

The March 15–18, 2027 debut at the Las Vegas Convention Center is a new event from the partners that co-owned LightFair, with its own sales process, rates and deadlines. Past LightFair exhibitors book from scratch and plan the build for mid-March. source

  2. Building technology gets its own zone

Networked lighting controls, whole-building automation and integrated platforms have a Building Technology zone next to Lighting and Accessories, and integrators, facility operators and IT/OT teams are part of the target audience. A booth that shows luminaires, sensors and controls working together, staffed by someone who can answer integration questions, speaks to both groups. source

Light + Intelligent Building North America rules that shape your booth

Light stays inside your booth

Messe Frankfurt's display guidelines bar lighting, trusses or fixtures outside the booth, ban light projected onto aisles or neighbors, and require written approval for lasers, UV and strobes. We aim and hood every demo fixture so the darkened sector stays clean.

Organizer rule

Full 8-foot cubic content inline

Inline booths may use their full width, depth and 8-foot height, perimeter booths may reach 12 feet with a Booth Variance Request, and peninsula or island footprints from 400 square feet up are allowed 16 feet. We design to the cube from the first sketch.

Organizer rule

Signs 60 days, towers 90 days

Hanging signs need 400 square feet, a 10-foot setback from neighbors and organizer approval at least 60 days before installation, and the official contractor hangs them; towers and multi-story exhibits go to show management 90 days before move-in. We file both.

Organizer rule

Floor covering in every booth

Booth space comes with pipe, drape and an ID sign but no carpet, and the organizer requires floor covering in every booth. We bring flooring in the kit or order it, choosing a dark finish for booths in the Lighting sector.

Organizer rule

Trade only, 85 decibels

Admission is for registered trade visitors only, with no one under 18, and the guidelines cap booth audio at 85 decibels taken at the aisle in front. We point speakers inward and keep demo audio to a level that suits a conversation at the counter.

04 Designing for architectural and decorative lighting, lighting controls, building automation and LED component makers at Light + Intelligent Building North America

Four things we get right for Light + Intelligent Building North America exhibitors

Ceiling lights behind an artistic panel casting a warm glow in a dark modern room1

Build for the darkened sector

The Lighting sector runs under reduced house light, the organizer says, though not a full blackout. We design a hooded, matte-black interior so your luminaires read at true contrast, with dimmable circuits per fixture and no stray spill into the aisle, which Messe Frankfurt's display guidelines prohibit.

Spiral cluster of hanging globe lights suspended from a ceiling in a London interior2

Use the full cubic content

Messe Frankfurt's technical-show guidelines let inline booths use the full 8-foot height across the whole footprint, with no front setback. We mount fixtures and control panels right up to the aisle line, so a designer walking Central Hall sees lit product at eye level from the first step.

Glass building lit with LED lines at night, its light reflected in still water3

Prove it talks to the building

Attendees in the Building Technology sector come for interoperability, controls and real performance data. We build a live controls station with a tablet, sensors and a dashboard on its own network drop, so an integrator can trigger a scene and watch your system respond.

Brick corridor with a row of pillars lit by warm ceiling lights receding into the distance4

Ten meetings per Luminary Leader

Each Luminary Leader, a hosted buyer whose travel the show pays for, must meet at least ten exhibitors and tour the floor. We add a seated two-person meeting area off the aisle and an appointment screen, so the buyers you nominate have a place to land.

Floor at a glance

Where you could be at Light + Intelligent Building North America 2027

The organizer places the whole show in Central Hall and divides the floor into three sectors, so your booth's neighbors and lighting conditions depend on the sector you choose.

ALighting sector
BBuilding Technology sector
CAccessories/Components sector
DCentral Hall, LVCC
Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall, Las VegasSchematic, not to scale
A

Lighting sector

Decorative, architectural, exterior and technical luminaires, shown under reduced house light; the organizer says it is not a complete blackout and applies only in this section.

Our advice We hood the booth interior in matte black and put every fixture on its own dimmer, so designers see true beam and color.

B

Building Technology sector

Lighting controls, building automation, HVAC and security integration, energy management and smart-building software, with the Intelligent Building Forum on the floor.

Our advice Order a hard-wired internet drop for a live controls demo; a dashboard that responds on cue beats a looping video here.

C

Accessories/Components sector

LED chips, drivers, optics, sensors, PCBs and wiring for OEM engineers and sourcing managers, next to the Components Forum theatre.

Our advice Engineers want specs over ambience: we build lit display trays with parts at hand height and a spec sheet rack at the counter.

D

Central Hall, LVCC

The oldest hall on the campus, about 623,000 square feet, refreshed between 2023 and 2025; ceilings drop in its older bays.

Our advice We check the ceiling height at your booth location before designing a tall island or hanging sign.

05 Las Vegas Convention Center, Central Hall · Las Vegas

Logistics for Light + Intelligent Building North America 2027, handled

Light + Intelligent Building North America fills Central Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the campus's first exhibit hall, refreshed between 2023 and 2025, where the older bays still have lower ceilings. Company staff can usually put up their own exhibit with hand tools at the LVCC; anything needing a forklift, pallet jack or hired hands is Teamsters Local 631 work booked via the official contractor, and we register as your EAC about a month before Central Hall opens for move-in. Floor covering is required in every booth, and hanging signs are hung by the official contractor. Your Purple project manager runs the install and rigging coordination, and our Las Vegas hub handles overnight fixes.

What Purple handles

  • Fixture walls wired to individual dimmer circuits and focused on site
  • Hooded, matte interiors for the darkened Lighting sector
  • Tower, hanging sign and variance drawings filed by the organizer's deadlines
  • EAC paperwork, insurance certificate and show contractor orders
  • Install and dismantle in Central Hall, run by your project manager
  • Booth storage in Las Vegas between shows

Light + Intelligent Building North America exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before Light + Intelligent Building North America

When is Light + Intelligent Building North America 2027?

It runs March 15 to 18, 2027, in Las Vegas. Monday, March 15 is an education-only pre-show conference, and the exhibition opens Tuesday, March 16 and runs through Thursday, March 18. Daily exhibition hours for 2027 are not confirmed yet.

Where is Light + Intelligent Building North America held?

In Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, 3150 Paradise Road, about 4 miles from Harry Reid International Airport. The organizer expects more than 150,000 square feet of exhibition space for the first edition.

Is Light + Intelligent Building the new LightFair?

It is LightFair's successor: LightFair's Messe Frankfurt site now redirects to it, and the same partners that co-owned LightFair, Messe Frankfurt, the IES and the IALD, co-own the new event. The organizers say it is not a rebrand, since the show adds building technology and controls alongside architectural lighting.

How much does a booth at Light + Intelligent Building 2027 cost?

Space is $47 per square foot in 2027, plus $300 per corner and a $195 Basic Media Plan, so a 10×20 inline runs $9,400 in space alone. Our 10×20 rentals run $7,500 to $15,000, and a custom 20×20 island $50,000 to $120,000, with lighting circuits and fixture mounting the main variables.

What does booth space include?

Space includes pipe and drape, an ID sign and three exhibitor badges per 100 square feet; extra badges cost $35 each. Carpet is not included, and floor covering is required in every booth.

What are the booth height rules?

Under Messe Frankfurt's guidelines for technical shows, inline booths may use their full 8-foot height across the whole space, perimeter booths may reach 12 feet with a variance request, and peninsulas or islands from 400 square feet up are allowed 16 feet. A hanging sign also requires that 400-square-foot minimum.

Who exhibits and who attends?

Exhibitors span three sectors: architectural and decorative lighting, building technology such as controls and automation, and components like drivers, LEDs and optics. Attendees include lighting designers, architects, engineers, electrical contractors, distributors, integrators and facility managers; admission is for trade visitors only, and no one under 18 is admitted.

How many people will attend?

The organizer expects more than 6,000 visitors and more than 350 exhibitors at the first edition in 2027. Because it is a new show, there is no prior attendance count under this name; LightFair last ran in Las Vegas in 2025.

Can we rent a booth for Light + Intelligent Building?

Our Las Vegas rentals come with frame, fabric graphics, counters and storage, and for this show we add fixture mounting rails, dimmable circuits and a light-blocking hood for the darkened sector. Install, dismantle and the floor-covering order are priced together on a fixed proposal, and afterward everything goes back to our Las Vegas shop.

Can we set up our own booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center?

Your full-time staff can usually assemble an LVCC booth with hand tools, but powered equipment and hired labor belong to Teamsters Local 631 through the official contractor, which also hangs every sign. When Purple handles the install, we register as your EAC and send in our insurance certificate.

What is the Luminary Leaders program?

It is the show's hosted-buyer program: the organizer covers airfare, ground transport and up to three nights for buyers with purchasing authority, who must tour the floor, attend four education sessions and meet at least ten exhibitors. Exhibitors can nominate clients and buyers can apply directly; the application deadline for 2027 is October 31, 2026, with decisions by November 15, 2026.

Can we run lighting demos and play sound in the booth?

Lighting must stay inside your booth and may not project onto aisles or other exhibits, and lasers, UV or strobe effects need written approval. Sound should stay under 85 decibels at the aisle under the display guidelines. We aim fixtures inward and hood the demo area.

Can we reuse the booth at other Las Vegas shows?

We store the booth in Las Vegas and rework it for KBIS or the International Builders' Show in February, ISA Sign Expo in April, or HD Expo + Conference in May. Fixture walls swap graphics and product easily, so a lighting brand can run one build across the season.
