What makes IIBEC Convention different, and how we build for it
IIBEC, the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants, runs the one trade show built around the people who write roofing, waterproofing and wall specifications.Its 2027 convention brings an expected 1,700 consultants, architects and engineers to the Henry B. González Convention Center for technical sessions in parallel tracks, an opening keynote on building enclosures in a changing climate, site tours of San Antonio's missions and downtown high-rises, and a welcome reception on the River Walk. The trade show runs for just two sessions, Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, and attendees earn IIBEC CEHs for time on the floor, so visitors come to learn, not to browse.
Assembly drawings, wind-uplift and test data, and a technical rep who can say how a membrane laps, terminates and ties in at the parapet.
Air barrier, cladding attachment and fenestration interface details they can take back to a project, plus continuity across the wall-to-roof transition.
Spec language, product data sheets and a sample they can hold, gathered in the trade show hours they count toward IIBEC CEHs.

For IIBEC Convention, we build in our own shop in Fishkill, NY, and at our Las Vegas hub, ship to the Henry B. González Convention Center, and put our own project manager on the floor with vetted local labor for the install. Turnaround is a predictable 30 to 45 days, with pre-show QA and secure storage for your IIBEC Convention booth.

Inside IIBEC Convention 2027
IIBEC Convention rules that shape your booth
IIBEC limits exhibitors to firms that make or supply products, tools, equipment or services for the building enclosure industry, and allows one company name per exhibit space (2027 contract). We design one brand story and keep partner logos off the walls.
The 2027 contract bars displays outside your booth, in hotel lobbies, lounges or sleeping rooms, and hospitality functions during official IIBEC hours unless IIBEC approves in writing. We put the meeting space inside your booth instead.
IIBEC bans combustible decoration such as cardboard or crepe paper, requires flame-proofed booth materials and forbids attaching anything to the center's columns, walls or floors (2027 contract). Our fabrics carry flame certificates and every wall is freestanding.
Shepard Exposition Services, the hotel or the center require a certificate of insurance from each exhibitor and its Exhibitor-Appointed Contractor, with $1,000,000 general liability; nobody gets on the floor without one. We file ours as your EAC.
Every exhibit must remain intact until the trade show officially closes at noon on Saturday, March 20, 2027, with dismantle from 12:30 p.m. We schedule pack-out labor for the afternoon and have freight out by the 8 p.m. end of move-out.
Programs worth planning for
Attendees earn 2.0 IIBEC continuing education hours for up to four hours on the 2027 trade show floor and 3.0 for more than four, which keeps consultants in the aisles longer.
IIBEC assigns 2027 space by priority points and publishes the final booth selection order; rule violations can cost an exhibitor its points for the next convention.
Sponsorships are open to current-year exhibitors only, and sponsors stay liable for sponsorship fees if they cancel their space, under the 2027 contract.

IIBEC sells trade show space in 100 square foot units, from a 10×10 inline with an 8-foot drape to 20×20 islands, at 2027 rates of $34 to $36 per square foot for members. We recommend a 10×20 inline for a membrane or air barrier brand and an island when you show full wall and roof assemblies.

Four things we get right for IIBEC Convention exhibitors
1Show the detail, not the roll
IIBEC visitors judge a product by how it handles a parapet, a drain or a window head. We build cut-section mock-ups at those transitions, label each layer and leave a drawing counter where a consultant can sketch a project condition with your technical rep.
2Two short sessions to work
The 2027 floor is open only from 3:15 to 7:15 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. That is under nine hours, so the booth needs a fast read from the aisle: one claim, one test standard, one image, then depth at the counter.
3Built for CEH hours
Attendees earn 2.0 IIBEC CEHs for up to four hours on the trade show floor and 3.0 for more than four. Consultants stay longer than at a sales show, so we add a short presentation screen and seating where a ten-minute technical talk can repeat.
4Islands under 35-foot ceilings
The Henry B. González exhibit halls have 35-foot ceilings, and IIBEC sells 20×20 islands without drape. We use the height for a tall wall assembly or a hanging sign, filed with the hall's center-exclusive rigging crews and the San Antonio Fire Department review for covered areas.

Logistics for IIBEC Convention 2027, handled
Shepard Exposition Services is IIBEC's official exhibitor service contractor, and Shepard, the hotel and the convention center require insurance certificates from each exhibitor and any Exhibitor-Appointed Contractor before the floor opens. Under Texas right-to-work rules, your own employees can assemble a booth of any footprint with their own hand tools. Material handling still runs through Shepard, about $95 per hundredweight in Purple's 2026 planning numbers, and electrical, rigging and internet are center exclusives. Deliveries use the docks on the HemisFair side, not the River Walk. Our project manager files the EAC paperwork and installs before Friday's 3:15 p.m. opening.

Last day to cancel IIBEC space for a partial refund: December 18, 2026. After December 18, 2026 a cancellation receives no refund, so settle booth size with us before then and we design to it.

When is the IIBEC Convention 2027?
The 2027 IIBEC International Convention & Trade Show runs March 18 to 21, 2027, Thursday to Sunday, in San Antonio, Texas. The trade show itself is open Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20, in the gaps between technical tracks.
Where is IIBEC 2027 held?
IIBEC 2027 takes over the Henry B. González Convention Center at 900 E Market St in downtown San Antonio, with host hotels in the River Walk district about a ten-minute walk from sessions. The 2026 convention was in Sacramento and the 2025 convention at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando.
What are the IIBEC trade show hours?
The 2027 trade show is open Friday, March 19 from 3:15 to 7:15 p.m. and Saturday, March 20 from 8 a.m. to noon. Dismantle starts at 12:30 p.m. Saturday and runs to 8 p.m., and IIBEC requires every exhibit to stay intact until the show officially closes.
How much does a booth at IIBEC cost?
IIBEC's 2027 space rate is $36 per square foot for members and $44 for non-members on a 100 square foot booth, dropping to $34 and $42 above 100 square feet. Our display for a 10×20 inline runs $7,500 to $15,000 as a rental; IIBEC bills space and Shepard bills services.
What is included with an IIBEC booth?
A standard 2027 booth comes with 8-foot draped back walls, 36-inch side rails and an identification sign, plus three complimentary registrations per 100 square feet, each with a Welcome Reception ticket. Island booths come with no drape or sign, and carpet is not listed.
How do we qualify for IIBEC member booth rates?
IIBEC members are individuals, so the exhibitor contract must be signed by a current IIBEC member who works for your company, with that person's member ID on the contract. Without one, the non-member rate of $44 or $42 per square foot applies.
How are booth locations assigned at IIBEC?
IIBEC assigns space through its priority points system and publishes a final booth selection order for 2027. Violating the rules can cost a company its points for the following year, so we build to the published regulations and keep your record clean.
What are the IIBEC payment and cancellation deadlines?
A 50% deposit is due with the 2027 contract and booths are forfeited if it is not received within 45 days. The balance was due October 16, 2026, cancellations cost 50% of the exhibit fee, and cancellations after December 18, 2026 receive no refund.
Who exhibits at the IIBEC trade show?
Companies that make or supply products, tools, equipment or services for the building enclosure industry, which is IIBEC's eligibility rule. More than 140 companies exhibit, mostly roofing membrane, flashing, fastener, waterproofing, air barrier and wall system makers. Only one company name is allowed per exhibit space.
How many people attend IIBEC?
IIBEC expects about 1,700 consultants, architects, engineers and design professionals in San Antonio in 2027. In 2025 more than 1,700 building enclosure professionals came to Orlando, and the 2026 Sacramento trade show had more than 140 exhibitors.
Can attendees earn credit on the IIBEC trade show floor?
Attendees earn 2.0 IIBEC CEHs for up to four hours on the trade show floor and 3.0 CEHs for more than four hours. Complimentary exhibit representatives may also claim CE hours for education they attend, while a Trade Show Only pass includes no technical sessions or credit.
Can our own staff set up our booth at the Henry B. González Convention Center?
Your employees can do the install themselves: Texas labor law lets exhibitor staff erect any footprint at the Henry B. González center using their own tools. Shepard still handles material handling, the center keeps electrical, rigging and internet, and any outside builder needs an insurance certificate on file as an Exhibitor-Appointed Contractor.
Can we host a hospitality suite during IIBEC?
Only with IIBEC's written approval. The 2027 contract bars exhibitors from showing products outside their booth, in hotel lobbies or suites, and from hosting hospitality functions during official event hours or IIBEC activities. Requests for a suite or function space go through IIBEC.
Who organizes the IIBEC Convention?
The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants owns, produces and manages it. The convention pairs technical sessions on roofing, waterproofing and walls with the trade show, IIBEC committee meetings and the RCI-IIBEC Foundations golf tournament, live auction and President's Banquet.
