What makes FENCETECH different, and how we build for it
FENCETECH is the American Fence Association's own show, which AFA calls the largest fence industry trade show and conference in the world.It runs five days, but the floor opens only on day three: March 1–2 belong to AFA Schools, Applied Learning Workshops, the Education Foundation Golf Tournament and the Pickets & Pitches Opening Party, and the floor follows a 10:30 a.m. keynote panel on March 3. The aisles mix wood, vinyl, chain link and ornamental fence with gate operators and access control, as Platinum Sponsors such as DOORKING and Ameristar Perimeter Security show. Certification Exams, the Industry Excellence Awards and the Women in Fence Luncheon run during floor days.
Installers compare material, hardware and tools they will put in the ground next season, so they want to swing the gate, feel the latch, see the post and ask about lead times and dealer pricing.
Contractors adding gate operators and access control want to watch an operator cycle, see the wiring and safety devices, and learn which certification or training the manufacturer offers.
Distributors look for lines to stock across a region and manufacturers source components, so they want catalog depth, pallet quantities and freight terms more than a show special.

After Indianapolis in 2026, FENCETECH 2027 runs March 1 to 5 in Phoenix, with exhibits open March 3 to 5 and the floor opening at noon on Wednesday. Exhibitors who shipped to the Midwest last year now plan freight for a Southwest venue, and the full booth balance is due November 1, 2026. source
Inside FENCETECH 2027
FENCETECH rules that shape your booth
Sponsors move in March 1 and all exhibitors March 2; on Wednesday, March 3, 8 to 10 a.m. is for final setup within the booth space only. We finish structure, gates and power on Tuesday and leave Wednesday for product.
Move-out runs 1 to 9 p.m. on March 5, and items must be off the show floor by 9 p.m. We book the outbound carrier and crate gates in reverse build order so the booth leaves on the same evening.
Exhibitors carry general liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate for March 1–5, 2027, naming AFA as certificate holder and additional insured. We collect the certificate with your booth paperwork in February.
Inline booths come with an 8-foot back wall and 3-foot side rails, and no floor covering. We design fence runs and gate frames to stand within that envelope and bring or order carpet sized to the space.
AFA requires a 50% deposit on signing and the full balance by November 1, 2026. We line up design, production and Expo Group orders from that date so a paid booth is never waiting on its build.
Programs worth planning for
AFA's awards presentation, Thursday, March 4, 2027, 8 to 9 a.m., an hour before the floor opens that day, when contractors and suppliers are already in the building.
Full-day schools and workshops on Monday, March 1, with schools continuing Tuesday morning; installers arrive two days before the floor opens.
AFA certification exams run 1 to 5 p.m. on March 3 and 4, during floor hours, so certified installers are on site and walking the aisles before and after.
Thursday, March 4: the Women in Fence Luncheon at noon and the Hispanic Fence Professionals Reception at 3 p.m., both community events during the floor days.

Popular booth sizes at FENCETECH
FENCETECH sells inline booths by the 10×10 with an 8-foot back wall and 3-foot side rails, and charges $250 per corner in premium zones. Fence and gate exhibitors usually take 10×20 or larger runs to stand full panels and a working gate. We recommend a 10×20 at minimum, or an island for operator demos.

Four things we get right for FENCETECH exhibitors
1A gate that actually swings
FENCETECH installers judge hardware with their hands. We build gates on weighted freestanding posts so they swing and latch exactly as installed, with no floor anchoring, and frame the hinge and latch with lighting so the details read from the aisle.
2Two setup days, then a 10 a.m. wall
All exhibitors move in on Tuesday, March 2, and Wednesday morning allows only final touches inside the booth from 8 to 10 a.m. We pre-assemble fence panels and gate frames in Fishkill so the build finishes on Tuesday and Wednesday is for product only.
3Hold buyers through the keynote gap
The floor opens at noon on March 3, after the 10:30 a.m. keynote panel on the next 65 years of the industry. We plan the first hour like an opening: product reveals, a gate-operator demo on the hour and a giveaway timed for the noon rush.
4Show access control live
With gate operators and access control on the floor alongside fence material, an operator that cycles on cue draws a crowd. We build the gate track, power drops and a safety-edge demo into a platform, so the gate runs all day without a ramp or trip edge.

Logistics for FENCETECH 2027, handled
FENCETECH 2027 is at the Phoenix Convention Center, 100 N. Third Street, where The Expo Group is the general contractor for freight, carpet, electrical, hanging signs and general services. Under Arizona right-to-work rules your employees may carry in and build by hand, while forklift and dolly work stays with the official contractor or Stagehand Local #36. Sponsors move in March 1, all exhibitors March 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and everything must leave the floor by 9 p.m. on March 5. We ship panels crated, file the Expo Group orders when the manual opens in November and run the build with our project manager.

At the Phoenix Convention Center, 100 N. Third Street in downtown Phoenix. The 2026 show was at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, and FENCETECH 2028 moves to Orlando, February 14–18. Valley Metro Rail's 3rd St/Convention Center stop is at the campus.
How much does a booth at FENCETECH 2027 cost?
After August 1, 2026, AFA members pay $30.50 per sq ft, or $3,050 per 10×10, and non-members $38.50, or $3,850; premium-zone corners add $250 each. A 10×20 runs $6,100 to $7,700 in space. Our 10×20 rental adds $7,500 to $15,000, with working gates moving the number.
What is the payment deadline for FENCETECH 2027 booths?
AFA takes a 50% deposit when you sign the space contract and the full balance is due November 1, 2026. The Online Exhibitor Services Manual and The Expo Group's exhibitor portal are scheduled to open in November 2026, which is when service orders start.
What comes with a FENCETECH booth?
Inline booths include a company ID sign, an 8-foot back wall and 3-foot side rails, an online floor plan listing and two personnel badges per 10×10. Floor covering, electricity, freight delivery, cleaning, lead retrieval and insurance are extra, so carpet must be ordered or brought.

What insurance does FENCETECH require?

Who organizes FENCETECH?
The American Fence Association runs FENCETECH as its annual convention and expo, with schools, certification exams, special interest groups and the Industry Excellence Awards alongside the floor. AFA members get the lower booth rate, and The Expo Group is the general contractor in Phoenix.
Can we set up our own booth at the Phoenix Convention Center?
Phoenix sits in a right-to-work state, so company employees may carry pieces in and put the booth together themselves. Machine-assisted moves belong to the official contractor or Stagehand Local #36. When the build needs extra hands, we bring our project manager and hire vetted local labor.
What does drayage cost at the Phoenix Convention Center?
The Expo Group's 2027 rates arrive with the November 2026 manual, so the figure is not confirmed yet. Purple's planning number for Phoenix is about $140 per hundredweight with a 200-pound minimum. Fence panels and gate frames are heavy, so we crate them tightly and price the line on your proposal.
Where should we stay for FENCETECH 2027?
Book through FENCETECH's housing portal, run by American Tradeshow Services: after you register, ATS emails a link to group rates at hotels next to the convention center, first come, first served. AFA also arranged Southwest fares for travel February 26 to March 8, 2027.
When should we commit to a FENCETECH 2027 booth?
Now: the booth balance is due November 1, 2026, and a custom build needs design sign-off by mid-December 2026 for the March 2 move-in. A rental can be decided later, but working gates and operators need about six weeks of production and testing.
Can we reuse a FENCETECH booth at other shows?
A gate-and-fence kit built for Phoenix works again at Deck Expo, the Landscape Show and IBS with new graphics, and returns for FENCETECH 2028 in Orlando. We store it between shows and refit it to each floor plan.
