What makes SATELLITE different, and how we build for it

SATELLITE is the commercial satellite industry's flagship meeting, and in 2027 it is the 46th edition. It runs as SATShow Week with GovMilSpace, the satellite event for government, military and intelligence professionals powered by Defense Daily, and both share one exhibit hall. In 2026 the week drew 14,738 attendees, more than 3,300 from outside the U.S. and 5,000+ from government, defense and civil space, and 82% of attendees told the organizer they came solely for the exhibits. The floor carries the Unveiled Theater, the Startup Pavilion and Startup Space, a Meeting Hub and, new for 2027, an on-floor Main Stage.

Operators and service buyers

Capacity, coverage and pricing conversations in a closed meeting area, with a coverage map or constellation visual that explains the offer in one look.

Ground segment and RF engineers

Real hardware: antennas, terminals, modems, amplifiers and RF components they can inspect, with an engineer who can talk link budgets and integration.

Government and military users

GovMilSpace attendees looking for resilient, secure communications, who want a discreet space for program conversations and staff who understand procurement.

Your team in Washington

Two shops and one project manager for SATELLITE

For SATELLITE, we build in our own shop in Fishkill, NY, and at our Las Vegas hub, ship to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and put our own project manager on the floor with vetted local labor for the install. Turnaround is a predictable 30 to 45 days, with pre-show QA and secure storage for your SATELLITE booth.

Your staff walks onto the SATELLITE floor and the booth is already lit and stocked. You just show up.

New at SATELLITE 2027

  1. A Main Stage on the floor

A new on-floor Main Stage open to every pass pulls session traffic into the exhibit hall; booths nearby gain footfall and need quiet, visual demos. source

  2. Unveiled Theater moves beside the Startup Pavilion

Pitches and startup booths now share one area, so Startup Pavilion exhibitors sit next to the theater where partners present. source

  3. More seating and a Meeting Hub

Seating spreads across more of the floor, with the Brew Lounge and bookable private meeting spaces in a Meeting Hub, so buyers linger longer between booths. source

SATELLITE rules that shape your booth

Signs only over 20×20 islands

Hanging signs are permitted over standard islands and split islands 20×20 or larger, to 25 feet from the floor; inline booths stop at 8 feet and perimeter at 12 (2027 manual). We size the sign and file its rigging order.

Organizer rule

Local 491 limits and no power tools

Exhibitors may build booths of 10×20 or smaller themselves; larger booths need Carpenters Local 491 after a one-hour window for two employees, and power tools are banned at any size. Our EAC crew covers the rest.

Organizer rule

Lasers and UV need approval

Lasers and ultraviolet lighting must meet facility rules and be approved by show management, and no light may project onto aisles or neighboring exhibits. We aim all fixtures inside the booth and file approvals for any laser demo.

Organizer rule

Technical staff in every booth

Booths must be staffed during all show hours by technical specialists who can discuss engineering details, or risk loss of seniority. We design the counter and plinths so an engineer can demo while a colleague handles leads.

Organizer rule

Built by Tuesday, open until Thursday at 1

Every booth must be set by 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 9 and stay up until 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11; Shepard dismantles and ships early leavers at their expense. We book dismantle labor from 1 p.m. Thursday.

Turnkey 10×10 ($3,950) and 10×20 ($7,900) booths for independently owned companies under five years old, with fewer than 100 employees and seeking Seed to Series A funding; first come, first served.

04 Designing for satellite operators, ground segment, antenna, RF and launch companies at SATELLITE

Four things we get right for SATELLITE exhibitors

Large lattice satellite dish glowing copper in golden-hour light1

Hardware on a plinth, not in a photo

SATELLITE wants booths staffed by technical specialists who can discuss engineering details, and engineers want to see the antenna or modem. We build weighted, lit plinths for terminals and dishes and route their cables inside, so the product, not a render, is the hero.

Technician in safety gear climbing a telecom tower to install a dish antenna2

Rooms for GovMilSpace conversations

Government, military and intelligence attendees share this hall. We add a closed meeting room with a door and acoustic wall panels to islands and peninsulas, so program discussions happen away from the aisle and away from cameras.

Two technicians installing dish antennas on a lattice tower, one checking a laptop3

Rig it with Hi-Tech or Shepard

Signs under 200 pounds without electrical or motors are hung by Shepard; anything heavier, lit or on truss goes to Hi-Tech/GLP Rigging, with the discount deadline on February 10 or 15, 2027 by weight. We engineer the sign and file the right order.

Row of white dish antennas aligned across a high desert plain under a deep blue sky4

Plan around the Main Stage

New for 2027, a Main Stage sits on the floor and the Unveiled Theater moves next to the Startup Pavilion. When your booth number lands near either, we keep demos quiet and visual, since SATELLITE requires sound at conversational level.

Logistics for SATELLITE 2027, handled

SATELLITE and GovMilSpace move in March 4–8, 2027 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, with the first afternoon reserved for booths of 600 square feet and larger, and every booth set by 9 a.m. Tuesday. Shepard is the general contractor and runs the docks; Hi-Tech handles electrical, Smart City internet and Aramark all food. Carriers check in at the marshalling yard at RFK Stadium Lot 8. Carpenters Local 491 and Teamsters Local 639 cover booths larger than 10×20, and exhibitors may not use power tools. We file the EAC form by February 15, ship to Shepard's Columbia, Maryland warehouse and install with our project manager.

Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for the building that hosts SATELLITE are in our Walter E. Washington Convention Center exhibitor guide.

EAC authorization, electrical and heavy rigging orders due: February 15, 2027. Miss February 15, 2027 and we cannot be cleared to build, and electrical and rigging orders lose their discount, so we file all three together.

For SATELLITE, we need design sign-off by December 2026.

  1. December 2026Design sign-off for islands and hanging signs; lead retrieval discount ends December 31.
  2. January 2027Production in Fishkill, NY over 30 to 45 days; plinths built around your terminals and antennas.
  3. February 8–15, 2027Certificates of insurance, Shepard advance orders, rigging, electrical, internet and the EAC authorization filed.
  4. February 10–25, 2027Freight to Shepard's advance warehouse in Columbia, Maryland, before the surcharge deadline.
  5. March 4–8, 2027Move-in; our project manager has the booth built and lit before 9 a.m. Tuesday.
  6. March 9–11, 2027Exhibition days; dismantle from 1 p.m. Thursday, everything out by 5 p.m. Friday, March 12.

SATELLITE exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before SATELLITE

What are the SATELLITE 2027 dates?

SATELLITE 2027 runs March 8–11, 2027, with the conference all four days and the exhibition March 9–11: Tuesday 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., per the 2027 Exhibitor Services Manual.

Where is SATELLITE 2027 held?

SATShow Week fills the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in downtown D.C., near Mount Vernon Square, and GovMilSpace shares its exhibit hall. Exhibitors arrive by Metro at the Convention Center station or from DCA and Dulles.

How much does booth space at SATELLITE cost?

The 2027 exhibit space rate is $64 per square foot: $6,400 for a 10×10, $12,800 for a 10×20 and $25,600 for a 20×20, each with conference passes and booth badges scaled to size. Our 10×20 rentals add $7,500 to $15,000; a custom 20×20 runs $50,000 to $120,000.

What is the SATELLITE Startup Pavilion?

A turnkey area for companies seeking Seed, startup or Series A funding, with fewer than 100 employees, independently owned and founded in the past five years. Packages are $3,950 for a 10×10 and $7,900 for a 10×20, including backwall graphics, a lit counter, carpet, stools, electrical and labor, first come, first served.

What are the booth height rules at SATELLITE?

An inline booth gets 8 feet in its rear half and 4 in its front half, perimeter booths to 12 feet, and islands and split islands to 25 feet. Hanging signs are allowed only over islands and split islands of 20×20 or larger, up to 25 feet, per the 2027 manual.

Can we set up our own booth at the convention center?

Exhibitors may work without union carpenters in booths of 10×20 or smaller, and two full-time employees get one hour at move-in and one at move-out on larger booths. Power tools are never allowed, and Teamsters Local 639 run all freight and equipment. We file as your EAC for everything else.

What are the SATELLITE 2027 exhibitor deadlines?

Certificates of insurance are due February 8, 2027, Shepard advance orders and the light rigging discount close February 10, and EAC notice, Hi-Tech electrical, heavy rigging and Smart City internet orders close February 15. An Exhibitor Appointed Contractor carries its own insurance for March 4 through March 12, and we file both for you.

Where do we ship freight for SATELLITE?

Shepard's advance warehouse at 7079 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia, Maryland accepts crated freight from February 10, 2027, with February 25 the deadline without a surcharge and a late charge after March 1. Direct shipments arrive from March 4 via the RFK Stadium Lot 8 marshalling yard.

How many people attend SATELLITE?

SATShow Week 2026 drew 14,738 attendees from 100+ countries and 6,400+ companies, including more than 3,300 from outside the U.S. and 5,000+ from government, defense and civil space. For 2027 the organizer expects 15,000+ attendees and 500+ companies on the floor.

What is GovMilSpace?

GovMilSpace is the satellite event for government, military and intelligence professionals, powered by Defense Daily, held with SATELLITE as SATShow Week and sharing its exhibit hall. It has its own prospectus and sales contact, so a booth can be sold into either audience.

Is the SATELLITE exhibit hall free to attend?

Exhibit Hall registration for 2027 is free through December 11, 2026, then $199 to February 19, 2027 and $349 to the show. Conference launch pricing is $2,199 through December 11, then $2,499. That makes an early invitation from your booth worth sending now.

Can we hang a sign over our SATELLITE booth?

Signs may hang only over islands and split islands 20×20 or larger. Shepard hangs signs under 200 pounds without electrical or motors (order by February 10, 2027 for the discount); heavier, lit or truss-mounted signs go to Hi-Tech/GLP Rigging by February 15.

Can we reuse the SATELLITE booth at other shows?

We design modules that also fit SPIE Defense + Commercial Sensing in Orlando, Space Tech Expo in Anaheim or ITW in National Harbor. We keep it stored between events and print new graphics for each audience, defense or commercial.

When is SATELLITE 2027 move-in?

Move-in begins March 4, 2027 for booths of 600 square feet and larger, from 1 to 5 p.m., and the exhibition opens March 9 at 10 a.m. The advance warehouse takes freight without surcharge until February 25, 2027, per the 2027 Exhibitor Services Manual.

Before you sign for SATELLITE

Five questions to ask any exhibit builder for SATELLITE:

  1. Is every fee on the proposal, including what the SATELLITE show contractor bills?
  2. Who builds the booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
  3. Does your project manager stay on the floor through install and dismantle in Washington?
  4. For SATELLITE, what is in the rental and what is billed by the show?
  5. What happens to the booth after SATELLITE, and what does storage cost?

Common situations

Already own a booth? We refresh its graphics, repair what is worn, ship and install it for SATELLITE, and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for.

Exhibiting from outside the US? For SATELLITE, we act as your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, and one project manager who answers your emails in your time zone.

Short on time? In two to three weeks, a rental with your graphics can be ready for Washington. On the first call, we tell you what is realistic for SATELLITE.
