AATS 2027 in Los Angeles: booths that put the instrument in a surgeon's hand
We build AATS booths around a counter where an academic heart or lung surgeon picks up the clamp, valve sizer or stapler and judges it in the hand. At the Los Angeles Convention Center we plan freight around the Pico Boulevard closure and the Local 831 union floor.
- Hall open May 1–3
- 111 exhibitors in 2026
- Islands from $46.25/sq ft
What makes AATS Annual Meeting different, and how we build for it
AATS is the annual meeting of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery, founded in 1917, and its hall is small and surgical: 111 exhibitors met 2,831 attendees in Chicago in 2026, and 63% of them came from the United States. A. Fassano & Company sells the space and runs exhibit logistics for AATS. The hall opens with the Saturday Welcome Reception, then runs two full days around the program led by 107th President Dr. Joseph Woo. In 2026 AtriCure and Magvation ran Surgical Suites on the floor with hands-on simulation, and nearly 30% of surveyed attendees said the meeting drove a purchase.
The valve, ring, clamp or retractor itself on a lit counter, sizing and handling they can try with their own hands, and a rep who can talk technique rather than slogans.
Staplers, energy devices, chest drainage and pediatric-sized instruments shown at true scale, with a screen for imaging or planning software beside the hardware.
A wet-lab style station to practise on a simulation model, a training or fellowship contact to take away, and a seat where a chief can talk department purchasing.

Inside AATS Annual Meeting 2027
Rules that shape your booth
AATS requires every organization holding a function of any size, anywhere, during the meeting to file an Affiliate Function Space Request, and bars booking AATS hotels or the convention center directly (2026 rules). We plan your meetings into the booth and file any outside event with AATS.
A company with products relevant to AATS attendees must exhibit to get meeting space, and non-exhibitors may not use meeting rooms or other venues to promote products (2026 rules). We make the booth your main meeting venue, with a closed pod for scheduled surgeon conversations.
AATS bars outside functions during scheduled programming and exhibit hall hours, allowing only internal staff meetings then, and asks that scientific themes rather than entertainment lead (2026 rules). We plan booth talks and demos for hall hours and keep your evening event inside open windows.
AATS supplies standard booths with an 8-foot back wall drape, draped 3-foot side rails and a 7-by-44-inch ID sign, but islands receive none of them. We finish all four island faces, build your own lit header and order carpet and power for the full footprint.
Each 10×10 of AATS space includes four exhibitor registrations, capped at 40 per company, and only contracted exhibitors may buy sponsorships. We size counters and seating to the team your space allows, so a 10×20 staffed by eight never feels crowded.
Programs worth planning for
In 2026 AtriCure and Magvation ran suites inside the Exhibit Hall through every hall session for hands-on device training on simulation models. AATS lists 2027 sponsorships as coming soon, open only to contracted exhibitors.
Company-hosted education sessions held alongside the accredited program and open to all registered attendees; in 2026 they ran at lunch in convention center rooms and at dinner in a nearby hotel, each approved on a separate AATS application.
Industry presentation slots AATS offered in 2026 alongside the symposia, each approved through its own application form submitted to the AATS industry team at industry@aats.org.
AATS is the academic cardiothoracic surgeons' May meeting, with 111 exhibitors in 2026; choose it over the STS Annual Meeting when your buyers are the surgeons presenting the field's research and a hands-on instrument or simulation station is your pitch. AATS prices space by the square foot on its 2027 rate card, so a 10×20 standard booth costs $8,480 in space and a 20×20 island $18,500, and islands get no drape or sign from show management. One instrument family fits a 10×20; take a 20×20 island when a simulation table carries the pitch.

Case study · Pixee Medical
Pixee Medical at a medical technology congress
A focused, demo-first booth for augmented-reality surgical guidance, built so every visitor could try the technology while traffic kept moving.
For Pixee Medical we built a demo-first stand where every surgeon could try augmented-reality guidance without stalling the aisle; an AATS instrument or simulation counter needs that same flow.

Four things we get right for AATS Annual Meeting exhibitors
1Light the instrument, not the logo
AATS visitors judge serrations, jaw closure and valve leaflets by eye, so we put high-CRI task lighting over a matte counter and keep glare off polished steel. In 2026 the floor counted 111 exhibitors, so the light on your counter is what reads from the next aisle.
Build a Surgical Suite into the booth
In 2026 AtriCure ran hands-on training on CADet simulation models in its Exhibit Hall Surgical Suite, with no appointment needed. We build the same idea into a 20×20: a waist-high simulation table, an overhead camera to a screen, sharps and wipe-down storage, and space for the next surgeon to watch.
Plan for two full hall days
The 2027 hall runs a two-hour Welcome Reception on Saturday, May 1, then 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. on May 2 and 3. We design for a crowd that arrives in waves between sessions: open front counters for the reception, and seats for longer talks on the two daytime days.
Keep the meeting inside your space
In 2026 AATS gave affiliate events no meeting rooms at the convention center and offered consult suites inside the Exhibit Hall instead. We add a closed meeting pod with a door, a table for four and a wall screen to your booth, so a department chief can talk purchasing without leaving the floor.

Logistics for AATS Annual Meeting 2027, handled
A. Fassano & Company runs AATS space sales and exhibit logistics, and we work from the show contractor’s kit: freight to the advance warehouse, material handling, electrical and labor. Local 831 holds jurisdiction over booth installation at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and we carry LACC drayage on the proposal at roughly $175 for each 100 pounds, 200 pounds minimum, for 2026–27. Pico Boulevard between Figueroa Street and LA Live Way stays closed around the clock through March 31, 2028 for the expansion, so our trucks route to the docks around it. Our own project manager leads the build with vetted Los Angeles labor, and the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton at LA Live are a short walk away.
Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for this building are in our Los Angeles Convention Center exhibitor guide.
Hall guide
The LACC exhibit halls differ in size and dock access, and the Olympic expansion is reshaping two of them. Here is what each hall this building uses means for an AATS booth, plus the street closure that shapes every delivery.
South Hall, added in 1993, runs about 347,000 square feet; it and West Hall are being joined into one contiguous space as part of the LACC's Olympic expansion.
Our advice: Whichever hall AATS uses, we plan the dock route and the aisle approach around the expansion work before your crates leave Fishkill.
Kentia Hall opened in 1997 with 160,000 square feet and hosts the building’s mid-size shows; its dock routing can shift while the expansion work runs.
Our advice: Kentia is the building’s mid-size hall, so if your space lands here we draw the booth to its own ceiling and power layout once the assignment is out.
Pico Boulevard between Figueroa Street and LA Live Way is fully closed around the clock from December 4, 2025 through March 31, 2028 for the expansion project.
Our advice: We give our freight carrier the closure map and a delivery window, so crates reach the dock on the advance warehouse schedule.

AATS Annual Meeting exhibitor questions
Questions exhibitors ask us before AATS Annual Meeting
How much does a booth at AATS 2027 cost?
For most AATS exhibitors the fit is a 10×20 instrument booth: a rental runs $7,500 to $15,000 and a custom build $15,000 to $45,000. A 20×20 custom island with a simulation station runs $50,000 to $120,000. Space is billed by AATS on top, at $42.40 per square foot standard or $46.25 for islands in 2027, plus drayage and electrical.
What is the deadline to book a booth for AATS 2027?
AATS sells space through its 2027 Exhibitor Hub, and booked companies appear on the 2027 floor plan as they sign, so the best positions go first. Your 2027 booth also earns priority points toward picking 2028 space. On our side, a signed-off design by mid-February 2027 leaves room for a 30–45 day build in Fishkill and an on-time arrival at the advance warehouse.
Can we rent a booth for AATS, and what does a rental include?
A rental covers the frame, fabric graphics, instrument counters with task lighting and locking drawers, plus shipping, setup and teardown, all priced on one fixed proposal. For an island we also finish every exposed side, because AATS supplies no back drape, side rails or ID sign for islands. When the hall closes the rental comes back to us.
Can we set up our own booth at the Los Angeles Convention Center?
The LACC is a union floor under Local 831’s jurisdiction for booth installation, so a built booth goes up with union labor or a registered exhibitor-appointed contractor. We file as your contractor, put our own project manager in charge of the union crew, and your team walks in to a finished, lit booth with the instruments ready to unpack.
Can we hold a customer meeting or dinner during AATS?
Under the 2026 rules, every company holding any function during the meeting, anywhere in the city, filed an Affiliate Function Space Request with AATS and could not book hotel or convention center space directly. Functions stayed outside session and exhibit hall blackout times, and companies with relevant products had to exhibit to get meeting space. We add a meeting pod inside your booth instead.
What does drayage cost at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and who pays it?
You pay it, billed by the show contractor at its exhibitor kit tariff. For the LACC we plan on roughly $175 for every 100 pounds, with 200 pounds as the minimum charge, through 2026–27. Loaner instrument trays and simulation models add weight, so we consolidate them into the booth crates and price the drayage separately on your proposal.
Does an island booth at AATS come with drape and a sign?
No. AATS gives standard booths an 8-foot back wall drape, draped 3-foot side rails and a 7-by-44-inch company ID sign, but islands get none of these. We finish all four sides of an island, add your own lit header or hanging sign, and plan the carpet and power for the whole footprint.
Can we reuse our AATS booth at other shows?
We build the counters, lighting and meeting pod to reconfigure, so the same booth can work at the STS Annual Meeting, ACC or Heart Rhythm with fresh graphics. After AATS it goes back to our warehouse, where we inspect it, refit the counters for the next product mix and ship it on to that show.
Who handles exhibitor logistics at AATS?
A. Fassano & Company runs AATS exhibits, with separate contacts for exhibit sales, exhibit logistics, sponsorship fulfillment and invoicing. Returning exhibitors log in to the 2027 Exhibitor Hub with their 2026 credentials; new companies fill in a questionnaire first. Once your space is assigned, we take the exhibitor kit and file every order.
When is AATS 2027?
The 107th AATS Annual Meeting runs May 1 to May 4, 2027. The exhibit hall opens with the Welcome Reception on Saturday, May 1 from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m., then runs Sunday, May 2 and Monday, May 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Where is AATS 2027 held?
AATS 2027 meets at the Los Angeles Convention Center on South Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles, beside LA Live. AATS last met in Los Angeles in 2023, when 2,213 attendees came. For rail riders, the LACC lists Pico Station on the Metro A and E Lines at roughly an eight-minute walk.
How many people attend the AATS Annual Meeting?
AATS counted 2,831 attendees at its 2026 meeting in Chicago, with 111 exhibitors, 738 abstracts and more than 108 sessions. The 2025 Seattle meeting drew 2,438, the 2024 Toronto meeting 2,524 and the 2023 Los Angeles meeting 2,213. In 2026, 63% of attendees came from the United States.
Who organizes the AATS Annual Meeting?
The American Association for Thoracic Surgery, founded in 1917, organizes the meeting, and Dr. Joseph Woo presides over the 107th as AATS President. Program directors are Michael P. Fischbein of Stanford University and Daniela Molena of Memorial Sloan Kettering. A. Fassano & Company manages exhibits and sponsorships for AATS.
