What makes IMAGE different, and how we build for it

IMAGE is the joint meeting of AAPG, SEG and SEPM, and its floor is organized around where the subsurface business is heading. Pavilions for Carbon Management, Digitalization, Near-Surface and Global Energy Opportunities run talks right on the exhibition, the Geothermal Hub hosts panels and technology showcases, and the New Technology Showcase links new products with new markets and funding. The Exhibition and Icebreaker Reception opens the hall. Visitors are technical people who judge a booth by the quality of the data on its screens, so a strong booth shows real sections, models and instruments.

Geophysicists and interpreters

Large, sharp screens showing real seismic sections and models, a seat at a workstation for a live software demo, and an expert who can talk acquisition and processing.

Exploration and asset managers

A quiet table to discuss a survey, a data license or a service contract, with case results and coverage maps on hand.

Students and early-career geoscientists

A clear story of what your company does and how to join it, often between Student & Early Career Events and technical sessions.

Popular booth sizes at IMAGE

IMAGE sells space by the square foot in multiples of ten, from 80 sq ft booths and 10×10 inlines for software, service and instrument companies up to large islands. Inline booths are held to 8 ft walls, so we recommend a 10×20 with a big screen wall for most, or a 20×20 island when hardware is on show.

Shapoorji Pallonji at a engineering and infrastructure exhibition

A structured, powerful booth for a global engineering group founded in 1865, built to communicate scale, trust and engineering excellence.

Different sector, same audience test: Shapoorji Pallonji needed a booth that showed engineering scale and earned trust from technical buyers, which is the bar IMAGE sets.

04 Designing for geoscience, geophysics and energy technology companies at IMAGE

Four things we get right for IMAGE exhibitors

Female engineer in a white hard hat studying a site map outdoors1

Build around the screen

Geoscience buyers judge you on the data. We size displays for the resolution of your seismic sections and 3D models, set them at viewing height with enough aisle depth to stand back, and control hall glare so subtle amplitudes do not wash out.

Engineer monitoring multiple data screens in an industrial control room2

Give software demos a real workstation

Interpretation and processing demos need a seat, a good monitor, a mouse and a wired connection. We design demo pods with hidden PCs, cable management and a place for a second person to watch, so a twenty-minute demo is comfortable.

3

Display hardware safely

Ocean-bottom nodes, geophones, streamer sections and downhole tools are heavy and expensive. We build plinths and cases sized to each piece’s weight and footprint, keep tall pieces out of the front half of inline booths, where displays stay under 4 ft (2026 rules), and plan crating for the trip home.

4

Make space for serious meetings

Many IMAGE conversations are about a survey, a data license or a carbon storage project. We plan a meeting table or enclosed room with a screen, storage for brochures and a sightline back to the aisle so your team does not miss walk-ups.

05 George R. Brown Convention Center · Houston

Logistics for IMAGE 2027, handled

Texas is a right-to-work state, so your own full-time staff can assemble a booth at the George R. Brown, while material handling from the dock still runs through the official contractor, Freeman, with Smart City on electrical and internet (the 2026 contractors). IMAGE appoints exclusive contractors for electrical, rigging, floor covering and material handling, and an exhibitor-appointed contractor needs approval 30 days before move-in. Exhibit Halls C and D held the 2026 show, with inline booths at 8 ft, islands at 20 ft and the front half of inlines under 4 ft. Freight goes to the dock, not the tunnel system. We file the EAC request and install with our own project manager and vetted local labor.

Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for this building are in our George R. Brown Convention Center exhibitor guide.

Hall guide

IMAGE used Exhibit Halls C and D in 2026 and publishes the 2027 floor plan on its ExpoCAD site. The George R. Brown spreads its halls across two levels, and each one shapes your build differently.

Exhibit Halls C and D

Halls of 104,400 and 106,200 usable square feet on Level 1 with 35-foot ceilings, home to the IMAGE exhibition in 2026, with islands to 20 feet and hanging signs allowed.

Our advice: Thirty-five-foot ceilings suit large video walls and hanging signs over islands; we draw rigging to the hall and keep inline displays under the 2026 height limits.

Halls A, B and E

114,750, 106,700 and 115,680 usable square feet on Level 1, also with 35-foot ceilings.

Our advice: If the floor plan grows into A, B or E, your freight route and move-in window change; we check the assignment before booking carriers.

Docks and freight

Loading docks serve both levels, separate from the Hilton Americas-Houston, and the center is not connected to the downtown tunnel system.

Our advice: Address freight to the dock or the advance warehouse, never the hotel. We label every crate to the show contractor's instructions so nodes and screens arrive together.

Timeline, counted back from move-in

IMAGE booth space rate rises from $42 to $43 per sq ft: December 1, 2026. Sign the space contract before December 1 to lock the lower rate; the remaining 50% balance is due by March 1, 2027, and we need your footprint to start design.

We need design sign-off by mid-June 2027.

  1. Mid-June 2027Design sign-off, screen sizes and island drawings ready for any height variance request.
  2. July 2027Production in Fishkill, NY; screens, demo pods and hardware plinths built and tested.
  3. Early August 2027Booth and crated equipment ship to the show’s advance warehouse for Houston.
  4. Move-in days before openingOur project manager and vetted local labor install in your move-in window and test every screen.
  5. August 30–September 2, 2027Event days; your Purple project manager is on the floor for the whole run.
  6. After the close on September 2Dismantle, hardware repacked to your return plan, booth to storage or the next show.

IMAGE exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before IMAGE

How much does a booth at IMAGE 2027 cost?

Space is billed by IMAGE at $42 per square foot for commercial exhibitors until December 1, 2026, so a 10×20 is $8,400 in space alone. Our 10×20 rentals run $7,500 to $15,000 and a custom 20×20 runs $50,000 to $120,000. Video walls and hardware plinths move the build number most.

What is the deadline to book IMAGE 2027 booth space?

The commercial rate rises from $42 to $43 per square foot on December 1, 2026. IMAGE invoices a non-refundable 50% deposit when you sign, and the balance is due by March 1, 2027; after that date there are no refunds. We need design sign-off by mid-June 2027.

Can we rent a booth for IMAGE, and what does a rental include?

A rental includes the structure, printed graphics, lighting, counters, freight, installation and dismantle. Geoscience exhibitors often rent the walls and bring their own screens and demo pods, or rent ours, which keeps year-to-year cost down while the data on the screens changes with each survey season.

Can we set up our own booth at the George R. Brown Convention Center?

Yes. Texas is right-to-work, so your full-time employees can assemble the booth with their own tools. Material handling from the dock still goes through IMAGE's exclusive contractor. If you hire us, IMAGE requires an exhibitor-appointed contractor request at least 30 days before the first move-in date; we file it for you.

How tall can our IMAGE booth be?

Inline booths are held to 8 ft walls, the front half of an inline booth stays under 4 ft, and islands go up to 20 ft (2026 rules). Tall hardware such as streamer reels or downhole tools goes at the back of an inline; islands needing more height go through a variance request with drawings.

What does drayage cost at IMAGE in Houston, and who pays it?

You pay drayage to the show's material handling contractor for moving freight from the dock or advance warehouse to your booth. Our George R. Brown planning figure is about $95 per hundredweight with a 200 pound minimum (2026–2027), with surcharges for late or uncrated freight. Equipment is heavy, so the estimate goes on your proposal.

Which hall is IMAGE in at the George R. Brown?

IMAGE 2026 used Exhibit Halls C and D, the column-free Level 1 halls of about 125,000 square feet each. The 2027 floor plan is live on IMAGE's ExpoCAD site, and space is assigned by the IMAGE Priority Point System, then first come. We plan rigging and freight to the hall you are given.

Can we reuse the booth at other energy shows?

Yes. Geoscience and energy exhibitors often take the same modular booth to OTC in Houston, IEEE Grid Edge or The Battery Show South. We build screen walls and plinths as modules for different footprints, store everything between shows and swap graphics for each audience.

Do you handle the IMAGE contractor orders?

We order electrical and internet from Smart City and material handling, rigging and floor covering from Freeman, IMAGE's exclusive contractors, time them for the discount dates and copy you on each one. Every fee is listed upfront on our proposal, in full, so the final invoices hold no surprises.

Before you sign with anyone

Five questions to ask any exhibit builder for IMAGE:

  1. Is every fee on the proposal, including what the show contractor bills?
  2. Who builds the booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
  3. Will your project manager be on the floor for install and dismantle?
  4. What exactly is in the rental, and what is billed by the show?
  5. Where does the booth go after the show, and what does storage cost?

Common situations

Already own a booth? We refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it, install it and store it between shows. You keep the structure you paid for.

Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager answering your emails in your time zone.

Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready in two to three weeks. We tell you on the first call what is realistic for your date.
