What makes MT Series SOUTHWEST different, and how we build for it
MT SOUTHWEST is the Texas stop of SME and AMT's four-show Manufacturing Technology Series, and until 2023 it ran in Houston as HOUSTEX before moving to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in 2025.It is a regional floor: 150 exhibitors on 28,000 square feet in 2025, an audience that mostly drives in, and SME's 2025 survey put tooling and workholding at the top of purchase intent, ahead of CNC machines. The SME Theater, the Executive Perspectives Keynote Series and the Smart Manufacturing Experience Knowledge Bars keep owners on the floor between sessions, so your booth works best when a buyer can see a spindle run and hold the part it made.

Rules that shape your MT Series SOUTHWEST booth
SME's Bronze tier, 100 to 200 square feet at $42, arrives as a decorator set: back wall 8 feet high, side rails at 3 feet, one skirted 6-foot table, a pair of chairs, carpet, a booth ID sign and a single 110-volt outlet. We build over or around that kit so nothing is paid for twice.
Silver, Gold and Platinum space comes with unlimited material handling and a one-time spot of each machine, provided your team is on site at unload; moving a machine a second time is charged. We lock every machine position before freight leaves Fishkill.
Gold and Platinum space, 501 square feet and up, includes 16-ounce carpet for the whole booth with delivery, installation and removal. We design platforms and machine pads around that carpet instead of ordering a second floor.
Across the MT Series, exhibitors who sign early pick their positions first, and a soft deposit can hold a space with the invoice dated into your next fiscal quarter. We size the booth with you early so the contract goes in while main-aisle and corner spaces remain.

The 2027 hall is not confirmed yet; the 2025 show used Hall A. These are the halls this building uses, and each one changes how tall and how heavy a machine booth can be.
Hall A (2025 show floor)
One of the original and earlier-expansion halls, A to E, which together hold 726,726 square feet, with ceiling heights and column grids that vary by building era.
Our advice If SME returns to Hall A, we confirm the column positions near your space before drawing a tall tower or a hanging element.
Hall F
Added in 2002: 203,000 square feet with no columns and 40-foot ceilings under twin parabolic arches, used for the Dallas Auto Show and large citywide events.
Our advice A column-free floor suits large machine islands; we would plan rigging and a taller sign only once Hall F is on the 2027 floor plan.
Docks and connected buildings
Loading docks serve the exhibit halls across several connected buildings, and dock assignments arrive with the show kit.

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center is a Texas right-to-work building, so your employees can put up an exhibit of whatever size using personal tools, and we pair them with our project manager and vetted local labor. The complex joins several hall generations: Hall F is a 203,000 square foot column-free hall with 40-foot ceilings, while Halls A to E vary in ceiling height and column grid, and the 2025 show used Hall A. Freight is addressed to hall and booth number, and we plan around SME's material-handling tiers. DART's Convention Center Station sits under the building and the Omni Dallas Hotel connects to it directly.

How much does a booth at MT Series SOUTHWEST 2027 cost?
Space first: SME's 2027 standard rate is $42 per square foot up to 200, so a 10×20 is $8,400, and $40 above that, so a 20×20 island is $16,000. Our 10×20 rental runs $7,500 to $15,000 and a custom 20×20 $50,000 to $120,000. Machine bases, power drops and freight weight move the build price most.
What is the deadline to book MT SOUTHWEST 2027?
SME has posted no formal booking deadline for 2027, and exhibitor kit dates are not confirmed yet. The rule that matters is position: early signers choose first, and main-aisle, corner and category-adjacent spaces go fast. Our build calendar needs your design approved by late August 2027.
Can we rent a booth for MT SOUTHWEST, and what comes with it?
We rent a complete 10×20 or island kit for Dallas: aluminum frame with fabric graphics, a lit tooling wall, a part-display ledge, a lockable counter and LED lighting, with freight, assembly and teardown on one fixed price. A machine base can be added to the rental, so only your equipment and samples are yours to ship.
Can our own team set up our booth at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center?
Texas is a right-to-work state, and the KBHCC applies that the same way other Texas venues do: your employees can build the exhibit themselves, at any footprint, with personal tools. Machines are a different job; we coordinate the rigger and forklift work and send our project manager so engineers stay with the equipment.
Is material handling included at MT SOUTHWEST?
It depends on footprint. SME's Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, from 201 square feet up, include unlimited material handling and a one-time spot of each machine while your team is on site for unload. The Bronze tier, 100 to 200 square feet, lists a furnished booth package instead. Re-spotting a machine bills extra, so we fix its position early.
What does freight to Dallas cost for a machine booth?
Inside SME's included handling tiers, your main freight cost is the truck. For planning, Purple uses about $100 per hundredweight for drayage at the KBHCC in 2026 and 2027, well under Northeast rates, for anything billed outside the package. We weigh every crate and list the figure on its own proposal line.
Can we reuse our MT SOUTHWEST booth at other shows?
The same SME rate card covers MT EAST in West Springfield in May, MT SOUTHEAST in Greenville in October and MT WEST in Long Beach two weeks after Dallas. We design the tooling wall and machine base to travel that circuit, swap the regional contact panel per stop and store the kit between shows.
Which hall will MT SOUTHWEST 2027 use?
The 2027 hall is not confirmed yet. The 2025 show ran in Hall A. The building's other option for machine-heavy islands is Hall F, a 203,000 square foot column-free space under 40-foot arches, while Halls A to E differ in ceiling height and columns. We draw tall elements only after SME posts the floor plan.

Tuesday, November 2 to Thursday, November 4, 2027, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. Exhibit hall hours and move-in dates for 2027 are not confirmed yet. The 2025 Dallas edition ran November 4–6, 2025, and MT WEST in Long Beach follows on November 16–18, 2027.
How many people attend MT SOUTHWEST?
SME's 2025 Rewind counts 150 exhibitors on 28,000 square feet, more than 20 speakers and 24 hours of education in the SME Theater and Knowledge Bars. Across the MT Series, SME reports that 56 percent of attendees in 2023 and 2025 were first-timers. Attendance for the 2027 edition is not confirmed yet.
Who organizes MT Series SOUTHWEST?
SME, the nonprofit association of manufacturing professionals, produces the show with AMT, The Association For Manufacturing Technology, which co-produces the whole MT Series. It was HOUSTEX in Houston, held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in February 2023, before the Southwest edition moved to Dallas in 2025.
