Running pumps, shielded and quiet: TPS 2027 booths for Houston's GRB
We design Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia booths where a rotating-equipment engineer can watch a seal, bearing or impeller up close behind a clear guard. In Houston we ship skidded, weight-ticketed crates to Freeman's Pleasantville Drive warehouse, which turns away loose machinery.
- Oct 19–21 · GRB Houston
- 320 exhibitors in 2025
- Paid in full by May 15
What makes Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia different, and how we build for it
TPS is a technical symposium with a hall attached, and the Turbomachinery Laboratory at Texas A&M runs it that way. Each 10×10 brings two Exhibitor Conference badges that open the refereed technical sessions, case studies and proceedings, so your engineers sit in the same rooms as the buyers. Booths are chosen in priority order from separate Turbo and Pump selection lists, the Innovation Presents Stage gives exhibitors a short slot on the floor, and the evenings move to hospitality suites at the Hilton Americas-Houston. In 2023 the verified crowd of 4,945 came from 53 countries, and 43% worked in oil and gas.
A cutaway, a seal face or a bearing they can study at arm's length, plus vibration and failure data from a real machine, not a brochure claim.
Repair turnaround times, field service coverage on the Gulf Coast and a straight answer on parts lead times before the next outage window.
A quiet table away from the running demo to talk pricing and frame agreements, and a reason to visit your Hilton hospitality suite that evening.
Your team in Houston
From our two shops to the Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia floor
Production happens in our own shop in Fishkill, NY, and at our Las Vegas hub, and we ship to the George R. Brown Convention Center and install with vetted local labor, led by our own project manager on the floor. Every Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia build runs a predictable 30 to 45 days and gets a pre-show QA, with secure storage after.
Your team walks into a lit, stocked booth. You just show up.
Inside Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia 2027
Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia rules that shape your booth
TPS requires transparent shields on rotating equipment, barriers or a 3-foot setback for other moving parts, drip pans under machines using oils or acids, and qualified operators only. We build the shield and plinth as one unit.
A TPS linear booth may reach 8 feet across its back half but only 4 feet across the front half; perimeter booths to 12 feet, islands to 20 feet with no double decks. We draw your display to those lines.
Hanging signs are allowed only above 20×20 or larger islands, with the top no more than 24 feet from the floor, and variances are unlikely. We size the sign and order Freeman rigging with the drawing.
TPS follows OSHA guidance of 85 decibels measured from the aisle, wants speakers facing into the booth and can stop any operation it finds unacceptable. We tune demo audio and machine speed to stay under it.
Every TPS booth must be complete and ready for inspection by 8 a.m. on opening day, and dismantling before the close can cost three priority points. Our project manager finishes the build the evening before.
Programs worth planning for
A stage on the exhibit floor where exhibitors present new products and services by request; the 2026 request form closed June 18, 2026, and the 2027 date is not confirmed yet.
Exhibitor-hosted evening suites at the Hilton Americas-Houston, booked through a TPS request form; in 2026 requests were due May 15 and suites opened after the hall closed.
TPS runs its short courses on Monday, October 18, 2027, the day before the technical sessions and exhibition open, giving engineers a reason to arrive early.
TPS is the rotating-equipment specialist among U.S. machinery shows, with 320 exhibitors in 2025; choose it over OTC when your buyers are the plant engineers who keep pumps, compressors and turbines running rather than offshore drilling teams. 02 Booths & pricing for Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia 2027
Popular booth sizes at Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia
TPS sells space by the 10×10 at $4,200 and calls anything 20×20 or larger an island, with linear booths 20 feet or longer able to carry an extended header. We recommend at least a 10×20 for a cutaway or skid, and an island when a full pump train or compressor package travels.

Two TPS booth units: a seal or bearing cutaway on a plinth in the back half, where structure may reach 8 feet, and a low counter in the 4-foot front half.

Three inline units let the front half rise above 4 feet once your display sits 10 feet from a neighbor, so a pump skid can take the middle bay behind its guard.

The smallest TPS island: a running pump on a drip tray behind clear shielding, a hanging sign up to 24 feet and a stand-up table for vibration data.

Case study · KLEEMANN
KLEEMANN at an industrial technology exhibition
An interactive booth for a global elevator manufacturer, combining digital simulations and real product showcases on a floor plan that led visitors from first step to last.
KLEEMANN needed visitors to follow heavy lift equipment from first step to last; a pump maker at TPS faces the same job with a guarded, running machine.
Read the KLEEMANN case study All case studies →“Purple Exhibits made us look good. The booth was one of the nicest displays in our section of the convention center and generated a lot of positive comments from both customers and industry peers. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond made a huge difference.”

04 Designing for pump, compressor, turbine, seal, bearing and rotating equipment repair companies at Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia
Four things we get right for Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia exhibitors
1Shield everything that turns
TPS wants rotating equipment behind transparent shields and other moving parts guarded or set back 3 feet. We build polycarbonate enclosures sized to your coupling and shaft, so engineers see the motion and the seal face while the guard stays part of the design rather than a rented fence.
2Drip trays under every wet machine
Any machine running oil or other liquids at TPS sits over a tray or pan. We fold the tray into a raised plinth with a diamond-plate edge, route the lube lines out of sight and leave room for a technician to drain it before Freeman crates it.
3Design for 85 decibels at the aisle
TPS measures sound from the aisle in front of your booth against an 85-decibel guide and can stop an operation it finds unacceptable. We point speakers inward, add absorptive panels behind the demo and plan a low-speed run mode for pumps that are loud at full flow.
4Fit the warehouse limits first
Freeman's TPS warehouse in 2026 refused un-skidded machinery and any single piece over 4,500 pounds or 108 by 93 by 144 inches. We check your heaviest skid against those numbers early and send oversize equipment straight to the GRB on its target date.

Where you could be at Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia 2027
TPS has not published which George R. Brown halls the 2027 exhibition uses. These are the spaces the building and the show work with, and what each one means for a rotating-equipment booth.
Level 1 exhibit halls A to E
Five ground-level halls of roughly 125,000 to 130,000 square feet each, with column-free Halls B to D, and docks that serve the building directly because the GRB is not on the downtown tunnel system.
Our advice Heavy skids belong on Level 1, so we route forklift deliveries to your hall's dock and time them to your target slot.
Hilton Americas-Houston
The 1,200-room hotel connected by skywalk, home of the TPS hotel block and the evening hospitality suites in 2026.
Our advice If you run a suite, we brand it with the same graphics as the booth so buyers recognize you after the hall closes.
Freeman advance warehouse, Pleasantville Drive
The 2026 TPS warehouse in north Houston took only crated, boxed or skidded freight with certified weight tickets, nothing over 4,500 pounds per piece.
Our advice We plan oversize compressor or turbine pieces as direct show-site deliveries instead of warehouse freight.

Logistics for Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia 2027, handled
Freeman is the TPS general services contractor, handling freight, drayage, rigging, exhibit labor and furniture, while the George R. Brown supplies event services and Smart City runs utilities and internet. In 2026 the Freeman warehouse at 960 Pleasantville Drive took crated or skidded freight about a month out and charged extra after its cutoff; certified weight tickets travel with every shipment. Texas right-to-work rules let your full-time staff build alongside our project manager and vetted local labor, and Purple plans GRB drayage near $95 per hundredweight. If we are not your contractor of record, TPS needs an EAC form and insurance certificate, which we file.
This building's hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia exhibitors are in our George R. Brown Convention Center exhibitor guide.
What Purple handles
- Guard, shield and drip-tray design around your running equipment
- Freeman orders, rigging and weight-ticketed freight to Pleasantville Drive
- The TPS EAC form and certificate of insurance
- City of Houston permit notices for lasers or fuel-burning equipment
- Build-out and teardown run by our own project manager with vetted Houston labor
- Storage between TPS and your next energy or machinery show

Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia exhibitor questions
Questions exhibitors ask us before Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia
How much does a booth at TPS 2027 cost?
Start with the space: TPS charges $4,200 per 10×10 for 2027, so a 10×20 is $8,400 before anything is built. A Purple 10×20 rental then runs $7,500 to $15,000, and a custom 20×20 island $50,000 to $120,000. What moves the number here is the equipment: guards, drip-tray plinths, rigging and drayage on heavy skids.
When do we have to pay for our TPS 2027 booth?
In full by May 15, 2027. TPS adds a 20% late fee after that date and can release unpaid space. A written cancellation through July 1, 2027 gets half the money back; after July 1 nothing is refunded. We plan design sign-off for early August, after your footprint is fixed.
Can we rent a booth for the Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia?
Yes. Our TPS rentals pair a reusable aluminum frame and fabric graphics with a plinth or skid base engineered for your equipment, lockable storage for spare seals and literature, LED lighting and flooring, which TPS does not include with the space. One fixed proposal also covers freight, the Freeman orders, installation and teardown.
Can our own staff set up our booth at the George R. Brown?
Under Texas right-to-work law, people on your own payroll may assemble a TPS booth at the GRB using their own tools. Freight between the dock and your space still moves through Freeman as drayage. Our project manager can lead the build while your technicians commission the equipment.
Can we run a pump or compressor in our TPS booth?
TPS allows demonstrations inside your booth by qualified personnel only. Rotating equipment must sit behind transparent shields, other moving parts need barriers or a 3-foot setback, and machines using oil or other liquids need drip trays. Volatile oils and gases are banned, and flammable-liquid equipment may need a City of Houston permit.
What does drayage cost at TPS and who pays it?
You do, billed by weight through Freeman at the rate in the exhibitor kit. Our GRB planning figure for 2026 and 2027 is about $95 per hundredweight, 200 pounds minimum, with surcharges when freight shows up late or off target. Pump skids are heavy, so drayage gets its own line on our proposal.
How is booth space picked at TPS?
In priority order. TPS assigns each company a time on its Alpha List for a selection session, with separate Turbo and Pump lists, and you must pick at your slot or send a proxy form. In 2026 TPS also ran an onsite booth selection session for the next show during exhibit days. Dismantling before the close can cost three priority points.
Can we reuse our TPS booth at other shows?
The same plinths, shields and graphic walls travel well to OTC at NRG Park, IMAGE at the George R. Brown or the Motion + Power Technology Expo in Detroit a week later. We store the kit between shows, refresh graphics for each audience and rebuild the guard layout when a different machine travels.
Do you handle Freeman orders and the EAC form for TPS?
We do. When Purple builds your booth, TPS treats us as an exhibitor-appointed contractor, so we send the EAC form with our liability certificate before the August 20, 2027 deadline. Then we order Freeman rigging, carpet and material handling, plus Smart City power and internet, and copy you on each confirmation.
When is TPS 2027?
Short courses run Monday, October 18, 2027, and the technical sessions and exhibition run Tuesday to Thursday, October 19–21, 2027. Daily exhibit hours for 2027 are not confirmed yet; in 2026 the exhibits closed at noon on the final Thursday, when move-out began.
Where is TPS 2027 held?
TPS returns to Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center, the two-level downtown hall at 1001 Avenida De Las Americas. The Hilton Americas-Houston connects to the center by skywalk and held the TPS hotel block and hospitality suites in 2026. Trains on METRORail stop at its Convention District station.
How many people attend TPS?
TPS reported more than 4,800 attendees and 320 exhibiting companies at its 2025 edition. In 2023 it counted 4,945 verified attendees, 323 exhibiting companies and 53 countries across 109 technical sessions, and in 2022 it counted 3,815 verified attendees and 274 exhibitors. Attendance for 2027 is not confirmed yet.
Who organizes the Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia?
The Turbomachinery Laboratory, part of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station and the Texas A&M University System. Its Exhibitor Services team in College Station sells the booths, runs the selection sessions and writes the rules, and advisory committees of industry engineers shape the technical program.
Before you sign for Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia
