Also known as KBHCC or KBHCCD, the Dallas Convention Center (1973–2013) and, at first, Dallas Memorial Auditorium
Dallas's convention center is half building site right now. Halls D, E and F, including the famous column-free Hall F, are being torn down for a new center due in 2029–2030, while Halls A, B and C keep hosting shows with 304,250 sq ft between them. Texas is right-to-work, so your own full-time staff can set up the booth; plan freight and access around the construction.

What exhibitors ask about the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center
The 2002 column-free Hall F is part of the demolition. Only its deck over the DART and Union Pacific tracks stays. Old kits that send you to Hall F are out of date.
Texas is right-to-work, and Dallas show kits let full-time staff set their own exhibits. Teamsters still move all freight inside the building.
The DART Convention Center station is closed until the project is done, though trains still run through. Plan a walk from another downtown stop or a ride.

Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center floor plan: the exhibit halls open now, and what happened to Hall F
Five expansions since 1957 left the building as a row of hall generations. Today only the western part is in use: Halls A, B and C on Level 2, with Ballrooms A and C beside them. The 2002 Hall F, once 203,000 sq ft under parabolic arches and the largest column-free hall of its kind in the U.S., is being demolished with Halls D and E. The venue's September 2026 Capacity & Floor Plans Guide is the current reference.

The guide lists the three halls side by side on Level 2 but publishes no combined A–C figure, so 304,250 sq ft is their total, not a promise of one open floor. Floor load is 350 lb per sq ft in each hall.

Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center construction 2026–2029: what is open and what changes
Dallas is replacing most of its convention center while it stays open. In February 2026 the city began demolishing Halls D, E and F; Halls A, B and C carry on with shows. The new building will be about 2.1 million sq ft with roughly 750,000 sq ft of contiguous exhibit space. For a show here in 2026–2029, plan for the smaller footprint, construction traffic and no DART stop at the door.

Throw out the old floor plan
Plans from before 2026 show Halls D, E and F. Work only from the September 2026 venue guide or your show's own plan, which use Halls A, B and C.
Check Hall C's ceiling
Halls A and B are 35 ft, but Hall C runs from 31 to 37 ft. A tall hanging sign or double-deck needs the height at its exact spot.
Give drivers the Canton Street address
The dock entrance is 1225 Canton Street, not the 650 S Griffin front door. With construction around the site, put it in your carrier's notes.
Bring your own full-time crew
Dallas kits let full-time employees set their own exhibits. A small travelling crew with a flat-packed booth saves on install labor; freight still goes through the Teamsters.
Don't count on the DART stop
The Convention Center station stays closed until the rebuild ends. Staff hotels near another downtown DART stop or within walking distance.
Know your electrical provider
Shows pick their electrical provider from the venue's approved list, so the order form is in your show kit, not on the venue site. Order before the discount date.

Who sets up my booth at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center? Rules of the floor
Texas is a right-to-work state: no one may be required to join or pay a union to hold a job. GES's Dallas rules say full-time employees of an exhibiting company may set up their own exhibits without the display union. Freight is different: Teamsters handle all material handling in the building, and anything electrical is union work done by the provider your show chose. Drayage and utilities stay exclusive whatever the labor law, so your savings show up on the install line, not the freight line.

Dates from each organizer: National Event Management (Dallas Franchise Show), Woodworking Network, FAN EXPO HQ, Build Expo USA and the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. Build Expo USA names this venue but its directions link points to Market Hall, so confirm the building. Listings also show the TCG National Convention (January 21–24, 2027) and a defense manufacturing expo in May 2027 here; we could not confirm them with organizers. Recent shows include FAN EXPO Dallas in September 2026, after the building served as the FIFA World Cup 2026 International Broadcast Center through August.

The city-owned, 1,001-room Omni Dallas Hotel sits next door at 555 S Lamar Street and is listed as connected by skybridge; with the Lamar Street span being cut away for construction, check that the route reaches your hall. Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center history: from Memorial Auditorium to the 2029–2030 rebuild
Dallas has expanded its convention center five times since 1957 and is now replacing most of it. The arena from the first building is the one piece slated to be renovated rather than rebuilt.
- 1957The Dallas Memorial Auditorium opens, designed by George Dahl; its 9,816-seat arena is the original element on the east side.
- 1973The building is expanded and renamed the Dallas Convention Center, designed by Omniplan.
