Plating lines to the Pacific: SUR/FIN 2027 booths in Long Beach

What makes SUR/FIN different, and how we build for it
SUR/FIN is the National Association for Surface Finishing's own conference and trade show, and for 2027 NASF takes it to the West Coast, to the Long Beach Convention Center, after two editions in Rosemont.Exhibitors cover the whole finishing supply chain: plating chemistry and coatings, process equipment and automation, pollution control, waste treatment and water recycling, and test and lab equipment. The SUR/FIN technical conference ran more than 70 sessions in 2026 on PFAS, wastewater, electroless nickel, anodizing and aerospace finishing, and the NASF Awards honor names such as the August P. Munning Award. Buyers come to compare finishes and compliance answers, not to browse.
Chemistry that holds up in their tanks, with cost per part, bath life and rework figures from shops like theirs.
Coated panels, cross sections and test results to handle and compare, plus a specialist who can talk thickness, adhesion and corrosion data.
Clear answers on PFAS, discharge limits and water recycling, with system schematics they can take to their permit holders.
Your team in Long Beach
Two shops behind your SUR/FIN booth
We fabricate in our own Fishkill, NY shop and our Las Vegas hub, then ship to the Long Beach Convention Center, where our own project manager leads the install with vetted local labor. Expect a 30–45-day build for SUR/FIN, secure storage and a pre-show QA.
When your team gets to Long Beach, the booth is lit and stocked. You just show up.
Inside SUR/FIN 2027
Rules that shape your SUR/FIN booth
SUR/FIN 2027 space costs $37 per square foot for early-bird NASF members, $44 for members and $58 for non-members. We price the booth both ways so you can decide whether joining NASF first pays off.
Every SUR/FIN 2027 booth package includes an 8-foot high back wall, 36-inch siderail dividers and flame-proof draperies. We replace the drape with a lit graphic wall built to the same line.
NASF members receive unlimited booth personnel badges plus two conference registrations per 10×10; non-members get two booth personnel badges per 10×10 (2027 packages). We plan staffing and counter space to match.
The standard black-and-white sign with company name and booth number comes with SUR/FIN space only when you reserve by NASF's print deadline. We put your branding on the booth itself either way.
Programs worth planning for
More than 70 education and technical sessions in 2026 covering PFAS treatment, wastewater, AI, aerospace finishing, electroless nickel and anodizing, plus classroom training courses and certification exams.
Presented at SUR/FIN 2026: the Scientific Achievement Award, the Award of Merit, the August P. Munning Award for supplier contributions and the Taormina Award.
SUR/FIN is the U.S. surface finishing industry's own show, run by NASF and on the West Coast in 2027; choose it over FABTECH when you sell plating chemistry, anodizing or wastewater treatment to finishers rather than fabrication equipment. Compare all the industrial machinery shows we build for →

Popular booth sizes at SUR/FIN
NASF sells SUR/FIN space by the square foot, so exhibitors choose anything from a 10×20 sample counter to a large island for a pretreatment or coating line section. We recommend a 10×20 for chemistry and testing suppliers and a 20×20 when equipment or a wastewater skid travels.

Case study · KLEEMANN
KLEEMANN at an industrial technology exhibition
A global elevator manufacturer’s interactive booth: real product showcases, digital simulations and a floor plan that guided visitors from the first step to the last.
KLEEMANN let visitors move from real product to the engineering behind it; a finishing supplier at SUR/FIN does the same from sample panel to process data.
Read the KLEEMANN case study All case studies →“Purple Exhibits made us look good. The booth was one of the nicest displays in our section of the convention center and generated a lot of positive comments from both customers and industry peers. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond made a huge difference.”

04 Designing for plating, anodizing, coating chemistry, finishing equipment and wastewater suppliers at SUR/FIN
Four things we get right for SUR/FIN exhibitors
1Light finishes like the lab does
A SUR/FIN visitor judges bright nickel, chrome and anodized color by eye. We light sample walls with high-CRI, daylight-balanced LED and add a viewing booth with neutral gray backing, so finishes look the way they do under a shop's inspection light.
2Dry samples, no open chemistry
We show plating and anodizing results as sealed panels, cross sections and parts rather than open baths, which keeps the booth simple at a union venue like Long Beach. Where a tank must travel, we build a drip tray and spill kit into the plinth.
3Make compliance its own corner
PFAS treatment and wastewater ran through the 2026 SUR/FIN program. We give compliance its own corner with a system schematic, discharge figures and a seated table, so EHS staff get answers without crowding the sample wall.
4Ship once to the West Coast
SUR/FIN moves from Rosemont to Long Beach for 2027, so Midwest and East Coast exhibitors face a longer freight leg. We build in Fishkill, NY, consolidate crates into one shipment and can stage from our Las Vegas hub for a shorter final run.

Where you could be at SUR/FIN 2027
Here are the spaces this waterfront building offers, from the venue's own site and Purple's Long Beach guide.
Exhibition halls
Three multi-purpose exhibition halls that combine into up to 224,000 square feet of contiguous floor, the main rectangular show space of the 1994 complex.
Our advice Whichever hall NASF books, we draw sightlines to your sample wall from the main aisle and keep the compliance corner off it.
Long Beach Arena
A circular arena on the site of the 1932 Municipal Auditorium, separate from the rectangular exhibit halls and used for large sessions.
Our advice If a general session lands here, plan staffing so someone stays in the booth while the keynote crowd is away.
Pacific Ballroom
A waterfront ballroom used for galas and general sessions; load-in access for large builds needs planning ahead.
Our advice For a customer reception during SUR/FIN week, we can dress a ballroom section with the same graphics as your booth.

Logistics for SUR/FIN 2027, handled
Booth building in Long Beach falls to union crews under the show's contractor agreements, so we send our project manager to direct the crews and keep your hours down. We read NASF's exhibitor kit the day it opens and book freight targets right away. Purple's Long Beach drayage budget sits near $170 for every 100 pounds with a 200-pound minimum, which rewards consolidated, well-packed crates. The Hyatt Regency and Westin are a short walk away, and Long Beach Airport is about ten minutes from downtown.
SUR/FIN exhibitors can find this building's hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines in our Long Beach Convention Center exhibitor guide.

SUR/FIN exhibitor questions
Questions exhibitors ask us before SUR/FIN
How much does a booth at SUR/FIN 2027 cost?
NASF charges $37 per square foot for early-bird members, $44 for members and $58 for non-members, so a 10×20 is $7,400 to $11,600 of space. A Purple 10×20 rental runs $7,500 to $15,000; a custom 20×20 island $50,000 to $120,000. Union labor and Long Beach drayage move the total most.
When should we book SUR/FIN 2027 space?
As soon as you can: NASF says spaces are filling up fast, and the $37 member rate is the early-bird tier. The early-bird cutoff date is not confirmed yet. For a 30 to 45 day build in our shop, we want your design approved before the end of March 2027.
Can we rent a booth for SUR/FIN, and what does it include?
We rent complete SUR/FIN booths: frame, printed graphics, color-accurate LED, sample shelving, counters, flooring, freight, union install and dismantle on one fixed proposal. NASF's own package adds an 8-foot back wall, 36-inch side rails, flame-proof drapes and a standard sign if you book by the print deadline.
Can our own staff set up our booth in Long Beach?
Not the build itself. Long Beach is a union house: setup and teardown go to the crews named in the show's contractor agreements. Your team places samples and literature, and our project manager directs the union crew so the build is fast and billed hours stay low.
What does drayage cost at SUR/FIN 2027?
Drayage is billed by weight by the show's freight contractor, and the exhibitor pays it. For Long Beach our 2026–27 planning figure is close to $170 per 100 pounds, 200-pound minimum, and the tariff in NASF's exhibitor kit sets the final rate. We consolidate crates to keep the weight count honest.
What does NASF membership change for exhibitors?
Members pay $37 or $44 per square foot instead of $58, get unlimited booth personnel badges and two conference registrations per 10×10. Non-members receive two booth personnel badges per 10×10 and no conference registrations in the package. We price your space at both rates so you can weigh membership dues against the savings.
Can we reuse our SUR/FIN booth at other shows?
Our SUR/FIN sample walls and counters travel on to FABTECH, Metalcasting Congress or ASM Heat Treat with new panels and prints. Between shows we store the kit, swap sample stock and keep your lighting settings on file.
Do you handle the SUR/FIN contractor orders?
We do. When NASF's exhibitor kit opens we order labor, furniture, electrical and material handling, book your freight target in Long Beach and file every form. You approve each order and see every line on our proposal before anything is billed.
When is SUR/FIN 2027?
NASF has set SUR/FIN 2027 for Tuesday, June 8 through Thursday, June 10, 2027 in Long Beach, California. The daily exhibit hall schedule and move-in window are not confirmed yet, and our install calendar follows the moment NASF publishes its exhibitor kit.
Where is SUR/FIN 2027 held?
At the Long Beach Convention Center on the downtown waterfront, a West Coast move after editions in Rosemont, Illinois in 2025 and 2026. NASF's 2027 hotel block is not confirmed yet; the Hyatt Regency and Westin Long Beach are within walking distance.
How many people attend SUR/FIN?
NASF counted nearly 1,900 attendees and 168 exhibiting companies at SUR/FIN 2026 in Rosemont, and nearly 2,000 attendees with more than 175 exhibitors in 2025. For Long Beach, NASF expects more than 2,000 professionals from around the world.
Who organizes SUR/FIN?
The National Association for Surface Finishing, based in Washington, D.C., runs SUR/FIN as its only sponsored conference and trade show. NASF represents a finishing industry it values at $28 billion and presented its 2026 awards at SUR/FIN.
How do we get a booth at SUR/FIN 2027?
Through NASF's MapYourShow booth sales: returning exhibitors enter the booking code NASF emailed them, and first-time exhibitors submit an application. The SUR/FIN 2027 floor plan and exhibitor list are live on MapYourShow, so we can compare open spaces with you first.
Before you sign for SUR/FIN
Five things to ask every builder quoting SUR/FIN:
- Are all fees on paper, including what the contractor at the Long Beach Convention Center bills?
- Who actually builds it for SUR/FIN: your shop or a subcontractor?
- Who from your team is on the SUR/FIN floor for install and dismantle?
- What exactly is in the rental, and what does SUR/FIN bill?
- Where does the booth go after SUR/FIN, and what does storage cost?
Common situations
Already own a booth? We refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it to the Long Beach Convention Center, install it and store it between shows. You keep using the structure you already paid for.
Exhibiting from outside the US? For SUR/FIN, we act as your team on the ground: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, and one project manager who answers your emails in your time zone.
Short on time? A rental with your graphics can be ready in two to three weeks. We say on the first call what is realistic for your show date.
