Sealed check sources, no live scans: SNMMI 2027 booth design in Washington

We build SNMMI booths where the scanner, hot cell or dosing system stands as real hardware and recorded images carry the demo, because SNMMI bans live imaging of people and phantoms. We place The Expo Group orders for the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and crate every piece for the union crews at its docks.

  • June 5–8, 2027 · Washington
  • Nearly 250 exhibitors, 2026
  • Island drawings by April 9

What makes SNMMI Annual Meeting different, and how we build for it

SNMMI puts a whole specialty in one hall: cyclotron and isotope suppliers, PET and SPECT makers, radiopharmacies and theranostics companies, all facing the physicians, scientists and technologists who use their products. The 2027 rules allow a booth only an NRC-exempt sealed check source and ban live imaging of people or phantoms, so the hardware stands still and recorded images do the selling. In 2026 the hall held nearly 250 companies, the largest in the meeting's history, while the Science Pavilion showed nearly 1,000 posters and the United Kingdom was Highlight Country. Space goes in priority-point order, and The Expo Group runs the floor.

Nuclear medicine physicians and radiologists

Reads of real PET, SPECT and theranostics cases on a calibrated monitor, the evidence behind a tracer or dosimetry tool, and a seat for a ten-minute clinical talk between sessions.

Nuclear medicine technologists

Hands on the acquisition console, the dose calibrator or the syringe shield, plus clear answers on workflow, radiation safety and throughput from someone who has run the equipment.

Radiochemists, radiopharmacy and department leaders

Isotope supply, synthesis module and hot cell specifications, delivery schedules and service terms, and a quiet table to work through a capital or supply decision.

Your team in Washington

Two shops, one project manager, every hall

We build in our own production shop in Fishkill, NY, and our Las Vegas hub, ship to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and install with our own project manager on the floor and vetted local labor. Predictable 30–45-day turnarounds, secure storage and pre-show QA.

Rules that shape your booth

Sealed check sources only

SNMMI allows an NRC-exempt sealed radioactive check source in a booth and prohibits live imaging, diagnostic, therapeutic or screening procedures on individuals or phantoms. We stage scanners and cameras as static hardware and run your approved datasets on review screens beside them.

Organizer rule

Inline video in the back half

SNMMI caps inlines at 8 feet across the back half and 4 feet across the aisle half, with every video presentation kept to the back; SNMMI supplies gray 8-foot back drape and blue jay aisle carpet. We mount screens on the back wall and match graphics to the gray.

Organizer rule

Island rendering by April 9

Island exhibitors send a rendering with every height, setback, furniture position and audio area by April 9, 2027, or pay $500; islands keep 2 feet open on all edges and stop at 26 feet. We draw and file it with see-through sight lines marked.

Organizer rule

Hanging signs over islands only

Hanging signs are barred over inlines, capped at 26 feet, set back 10 feet from neighbors and requested by April 19, 2027, with the building approving spots around HVAC vents. We send the drawing and let The Expo Group, the only allowed rigger, hang it.

Organizer rule

Approved demos at 80 decibels

Every product demonstration needs SNMMI approval, sound stays at 80 decibels aimed into the booth, and equipment presentations off the floor are banned except sanctioned user meetings and satellite symposia. We mark the presentation area on the island plan and leave room for the audience inside.

Programs worth planning for

Satellite Symposium

Company-run education slots during the meeting, without CME credit. In 2026 a breakfast or evening slot cost $33,000 and a lunch slot $40,000, limited to one per company until closer to the meeting, and each adds a priority point.

First Time Supporters Program

Built for new or smaller companies: a $2,000 unrestricted Annual Meeting support donation in 2026 earned bronze supporter recognition in SNMMI's industry program.

Official details

Hot Spot

A traffic builder for up to 20 exhibitors at $300 in 2026: show management calls a Hot Spot booth twice a day during dedicated hall hours, and attendees standing in it can win $300 in cash.

Official details

Industry Promotional Opportunity Program (IPOP)

SNMMI combines a company's yearly booth, sponsorship and advertising spend into Bronze to Diamond levels, with Diamond at $250,000 and up in 2026, and each level adds 1 to 5 priority points for next year's booth placement.

Pixee Medical at a medical technology congress

A focused, demo-first booth for augmented-reality surgical guidance, built so every visitor could try the technology while traffic kept moving.

Pixee Medical's booth let surgeons try AR guidance as traffic flowed; SNMMI bans live scans, so a recorded workflow on calibrated screens must give visitors that hands-on moment.

04 Designing for PET, SPECT, radiopharmaceutical, isotope and nuclear medicine software companies at SNMMI Annual Meeting

Four things we get right for SNMMI Annual Meeting exhibitors

Gloved hands handling small sample vials under a lamp in front of stacked bricks1

Move the images, not the patient

SNMMI's 2027 rules ban live imaging, diagnostic, therapeutic or screening procedures on people or phantoms, and allow only an NRC-exempt sealed check source. We stage the scanner or camera as lit, static hardware and loop your approved clinical datasets on calibrated, glare-free monitors at reading height beside it.

Hospital corridor with lit controlled-area radiation warning signs above the doorways2

Keep every screen in the back half

SNMMI lets an inline climb to 8 feet only toward the back wall, holds the aisle side to 4 feet, and confines all video to the back half. On a run of three or more inlines the 4-foot limit applies only within 10 feet of a neighbor, so we put a taller center section on long SNMMI booths.

3

See-through islands, drawn by April 9

Island plans go to SNMMI by April 9, 2027 with every height and setback, or the company pays a $500 fine. Islands keep 2 feet open along all edges, glass and fabric can count as view blockers, and spinning or pulsing light is banned, so we design open frames with steady, inward-aimed lighting.

4

Weigh the shielding before it ships

Lead shields, hot cells and dispensing units outweigh the booth around them, and SNMMI's 2027 rules list material handling at $3.20 per pound, $3.95 after the deadline. We weigh and crate every heavy piece, ship it to arrive in The Expo Group's 30-day advance window and set it on a load-spreading base.

Logistics for SNMMI Annual Meeting 2027, handled

The Expo Group is SNMMI's official contractor, and its exhibitor service kit, out at the end of February 2027, carries the EAC form we file for our install. Washington's convention center runs on union labor: per our venue guide, Teamsters and IBEW handle anything beyond a small inline set up without power tools, and SNMMI lets only full-time employees hand-carry, with no dollies. The Expo Group takes crates up to 30 days ahead, and with no crate storage inside the building beyond some empties near the docks, most empties ride out to trailers. We place orders at least six weeks out, our project manager leads the build alongside vetted local labor, and the Metro stop sits under the building.

Hall rules, drayage estimates and freight deadlines for this building are in our Walter E. Washington Convention Center exhibitor guide.

Hall guide

SNMMI meets at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in 2027. These are the halls and levels this building uses; booth numbers follow priority-point selection, and we plan freight once yours is set.

Halls A, B and C

A 473,000-square-foot contiguous run per Purple's venue guide: Hall A at 151,000, Hall B at 194,000, the largest single hall, and Hall C adjoining both.

Our advice: Each hall has its own dock assignment, so we book the dock nearest your booth before a heavy hot cell or shield leaves our shop.

Halls D and E

Halls D and E round out the building's 703,000 square feet of exhibit space, per Purple's venue guide.

Our advice: If SNMMI's floor or a pavilion lands here, we route freight separately and schedule union labor to that hall's dock.

Meeting levels and ballroom

198,000 square feet of meeting space with 77 breakout rooms and a 52,000-square-foot ballroom, per Purple's venue guide.

Our advice: SNMMI bans product presentations off the floor except sanctioned user meetings and symposia, so we brand both rooms and booth as one program.

What Purple handles

SNMMI Annual Meeting exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before SNMMI Annual Meeting

How much does a booth at SNMMI 2027 cost?

For a software, shielding or supply company at SNMMI, start at a 10×20: rentals run $7,500 to $15,000 and custom builds $15,000 to $45,000, while a custom 20×20 island for a hot cell or scanner runs $50,000 to $120,000. Heavy shielding and monitor walls move the number. SNMMI bills space on top at $40 per square foot for 2027.

What is the deadline to book a booth for SNMMI 2027?

Priority-point appointments ran September 14–16, 2026, so space is now assigned first come, first served. A 50% deposit goes with the application, final payment is due January 29, 2027, and written cancellations after February 1 forfeit the full fee. Island renderings are due April 9, so we need your design approved by mid-March.

Can we rent a booth for SNMMI, and what does a rental include?

Yes. For SNMMI we supply the structure, printed fabric walls, lighting, a reading station with monitor mounts and hidden cabling, a lockable counter and the carpet or flooring every SNMMI booth must have. Freight, install and dismantle sit on the same fixed proposal, and after the meeting the whole kit returns to us instead of your warehouse.

Can we set up our own booth at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center?

Only a small one. SNMMI lets full-time employees hand-carry their own materials without dollies or flat trucks, and Purple's venue guide notes that only the smallest inline booths, set up by employees without power tools, skip the union crews here. Anything larger goes up with union labor through The Expo Group or a registered exhibitor-appointed contractor, which is how we install.

Can we run a live scan or bring a radioactive source to our SNMMI booth?

No live scans. SNMMI's 2027 rules prohibit live imaging, diagnostic, therapeutic or health-screening procedures on individuals or on phantoms. A sealed radioactive check source exempted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is allowed. We build the demo around recorded clinical datasets your team approves, with the hardware staged beside the screens.

What does drayage cost at SNMMI 2027 and who pays it?

SNMMI's 2027 rules list material handling at $3.20 per pound, rising to $3.95 for freight received after the deadline, billed by The Expo Group to you. Labor is listed at $187.25 an hour straight time. Shielding is the heavy part, so we weigh it before shipping and show material handling as its own proposal line.

Can we reuse our SNMMI booth at other shows?

We design SNMMI booths to break down into modules, so the same frames and monitor walls can follow you to RSNA, ASTRO or the SIR Annual Meeting with new graphics. Between meetings the booth stays in our storage, we refit plinths for the next product mix and ship it to whichever warehouse that show names.

Can we hang a sign over our SNMMI booth?

Only over an island. SNMMI permits no hanging signs for inline booths, caps hanging signs at 26 feet and wants them set back 10 feet from neighbors. Requests with drawings go to SNMMI and The Expo Group by April 19, 2027, the building approves the spot around HVAC vents, and only The Expo Group may rig it.

Can we serve food or hand out giveaways at SNMMI?

Giveaways are allowed without approval if they meet AMA ethics guidelines, and The Expo Group bills you for clearing any packaging debris. Food and drink are allowed too, but every item must come from Aramark, the convention center's in-house caterer. Sales for cash are banned on the floor except for book publishers.

When is the SNMMI Annual Meeting 2027?

The 2027 SNMMI Annual Meeting runs Saturday, June 5 to Tuesday, June 8, 2027, in Washington, DC. Exhibit hall dates for 2027 are not confirmed yet; in 2026 the hall opened on the first evening and closed at 2 p.m. on the last day, and every 2027 booth must be occupied by 2 p.m. on June 5.

Where is SNMMI 2027 held?

SNMMI's 2027 venue, at 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW, is the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Events DC says the building sits right over Metro's Mt. Vernon Square stop, served by Green and Yellow line trains, while the Red Line's Gallery Place-Chinatown stop is five minutes away on foot.

How many people attend the SNMMI Annual Meeting?

SNMMI welcomed nearly 8,000 attendees to its 2026 meeting in Los Angeles, with nearly 250 companies and organizations in the exhibit hall. The 2025 meeting counted 8,333 attendees in total, 6,088 in person and 2,245 virtual, from 70 countries.

How do I get a booth at the SNMMI Annual Meeting?

Apply to the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging through its Director of Corporate Development, with a 50% deposit. SNMMI accepts products related to nuclear medicine, molecular imaging and therapy, and ranks booth choice by priority points earned through square footage, consecutive years exhibited, sponsorship and satellite symposia.

Before you sign with anyone

Five questions to ask any exhibit builder for SNMMI Annual Meeting:

  1. Is every fee on the proposal, including what the show contractor bills?
  2. Who builds the booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
  3. Will your project manager be on the floor for install and dismantle?
  4. What exactly is in the rental, and what is billed by the show?
  5. Where does the booth go after the show, and what does storage cost?
