Nanometers, not square feet: SPIE Litho 2027 booths in San Jose

The patterning crowd is small, senior and technical: EUV, resist, mask and metrology engineers who walk the hall between paper sessions. The booth has to state one process result clearly and seat the follow-up. We build to the San Jose McEnery Convention Center's fire and laser approval rules and fit a two-day show.

What makes SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning different, and how we build for it

SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning is where the people who print the smallest features on a chip compare notes. The week runs five days of technical conferences on EUV, resists, patterning materials, metrology and computational lithography, and the exhibition sits in the middle for just two days, February 23 and 24. The audience is narrow and senior: process engineers and managers from chipmakers, foundries, toolmakers and research labs who already know your competitors. That changes what a booth must do. It needs one clear technical result, a cross-section, an overlay number or a defect map, and a table where the conversation started in a session can continue in private.

Lithography and EUV process engineers

Process windows, CD and overlay data and line-edge results they can read quickly, and an applications engineer who can talk about their own stack.

Resist, materials and mask specialists

SEM images and cross-sections at a size that shows the detail, formulation or blank roadmap, and samples or wafers to look at behind glass.

Fab and research managers

A short roadmap story, proof of qualification at named nodes where you can share it, and a seated, quiet place to talk evaluation terms.

Rules that shape your SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning booth

Lasers need Fire Marshal approval

At the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, lasers, radiation-producing devices and similar processes need special Fire Marshal approval, requested in writing 60 days before the first move-in day. We prepare the request with your equipment data.

Organizer rule

Covered booths need engineered plans

Platforms over 500 sq ft, single-level covered booths and two-story booths need prior approval with plans certified by a licensed engineer, smoke detectors under the structure and an extinguisher per level. We engineer and file them.

Organizer rule

One person, one trip hand-carry

Full-time exhibitor employees may hand-carry without carts or handling equipment, one person and one occurrence per booth, and may not use the dock or freight doors. We plan what your staff carries and ship the rest.

Organizer rule

No early freight, no storage

The convention center has no secure storage, will not accept exhibitor freight and receives nothing before contracted show dates. We route the booth through the advance warehouse and the contractor's schedule.

Organizer rule

No helium, limited drones

Helium tanks and balloons are not permitted, and drones may fly only inside the expo halls under an approved application. We keep attention-getters to lighting and screens.

Organizer rule

SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning is the specialist U.S. meeting for EUV, resist, mask and metrology; choose it over SEMICON West when your buyers are patterning engineers who want depth on one process step rather than the whole fab supply chain. Popular booth sizes at SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning

The exhibition at Advanced Lithography + Patterning runs only two days inside a five-day technical week, so every hour of floor time counts. For a resist, metrology or software company we recommend a 10×20 with a data wall and a seated table; for a tool supplier, a 20×20 island with a meeting room.

04 Designing for lithography, EUV, resist, mask, metrology and patterning suppliers at SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning

Four things we get right for SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning exhibitors

Close-up of a small chip surrounded by traces and components on a dark board1

Make the nanometers visible

Patterning results live in SEM images and plots that are unreadable at laptop size. We print cross-sections and defect maps large, backlit and at eye height on the San Jose wall, with the node and the metric in one line under each image.

Macro of a dark circuit board with ball grid contacts and chips2

File the laser approval early

The San Jose McEnery Convention Center lists lasers among the items needing special Fire Marshal approval, requested in writing 60 days before the first move-in day. We prepare that request with your tool specs if a laser source or metrology instrument runs in the booth.

Black and white macro of a circuit board with rows of chips3

Seat the session follow-up

Visitors arrive with a question from a paper they just heard. We give even a 10×20 a seated table with a screen, so your engineer can pull up data and talk for twenty minutes without the aisle watching.

Engineer looking through a stereo microscope in a laboratory4

Carry samples, not crates

Wafers, reticles and mask blanks travel best with your team. San Jose allows one-person, one-trip hand-carry without carts, kept away from the docks, so we design glass sample cases that your staff load on arrival and lock each night.

Logistics for SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning 2027, handled

The San Jose McEnery Convention Center has no secure storage and will not receive freight before contracted show dates, so everything ships through the general service contractor or a show carrier. Teamsters handle unloading, crates and material handling equipment, while full-time employees may hand-carry without carts, one person and one trip per booth, and stay off the dock. Lasers, radiation-producing devices and covered or two-story booths need prior approval, and helium balloons are banned. We file those approvals, ship to the advance warehouse, put our project manager in charge of a vetted Bay Area crew, and pack out after the 4 p.m. Wednesday close.

What Purple handles

  • Fire Marshal special approval request for lasers and instruments
  • Backlit large-format SEM, overlay and process-window graphics
  • Lockable glass sample cases for wafers and mask blanks
  • Certificate of insurance, service orders and advance warehouse freight
  • Install and teardown with vetted Bay Area labor under our project manager

SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning timeline, counted back from move-in

Exhibitor certificate of insurance due to SPIE: January 22, 2027. Booths without insurance on file risk delayed access, so we need your policy details by early January.

  1. Mid-November 2026Design sign-off; any laser, instrument or covered structure flagged for Fire Marshal approval.
  2. Mid-December 2026Special approval request to the Fire Marshal, 60 days before the first move-in day under the venue's rules.
  3. January 2027Production in Fishkill, NY or Las Vegas; backlit SEM and data graphics proofed; certificate of insurance filed by January 22.
  4. Early February 2027Booth ships to the contractor's advance warehouse for San Jose; power and internet orders filed.
  5. Days before February 23, 2027Move-in on the contractor's schedule; our project manager installs and sets the sample cases.
  6. February 23–24, 2027Exhibition days, then dismantle after the 4 p.m. close and return or storage.

Planning timeline from Purple. We confirm the official move-in, freight target and order deadlines for the San Jose McEnery Convention Center against your booth when you book; they come from your exhibitor kit and assigned schedule.

SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning exhibitor questions

Questions exhibitors ask us before SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning

What are the SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning 2027 dates?

SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning 2027 runs February 21–25, 2027 in San Jose, California, per spie.org. The exhibition is open two days: Tuesday, February 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday, February 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where is SPIE Advanced Lithography 2027 held?

SPIE's exhibition page places the 2027 meeting in downtown San Jose at the McEnery Convention Center on West San Carlos Street. San Jose Mineta International Airport is the closest major airport.

Who exhibits at SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning?

Exhibitors are lithography and EUV tool suppliers, resist and patterning materials companies, mask makers, and metrology, inspection and computational lithography vendors. Visitors are the engineers and managers who qualify those products at chipmakers, foundries and research labs.

How big is the SPIE Advanced Lithography exhibition?

The exhibition is a compact two-day floor inside a five-day technical week, February 23–24, 2027. We size the booth to the conversations you want on that floor rather than to the biggest neighbor.

How much does a booth at SPIE Advanced Lithography cost?

SPIE publishes 2027 space rates on the exhibition page. Our 10×20 rental with backlit data graphics runs $7,500 to $15,000 and a custom 20×20 island $50,000 to $120,000; a laser demo or a closed meeting room is what moves the number.

What are the SPIE Advanced Lithography 2027 exhibitor deadlines?

The exhibitor certificate of insurance is due January 22, 2027, per SPIE's exhibition page. Lasers, radiation-producing devices and similar equipment need special Fire Marshal approval at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, requested in writing 60 days before the first move-in day. We send our own contractor insurance at the same time so install is not held up.

Can we run a laser or metrology tool in the booth?

The San Jose McEnery Convention Center requires special Fire Marshal approval for lasers, radiation-producing devices and similar equipment, requested in writing 60 days before the first move-in day. We file the request with your equipment details.

Can we hand-carry samples into the San Jose convention center?

Full-time employees of exhibiting companies may hand-carry materials without carts or other handling equipment, one person and one trip per booth, and may not use the loading dock or freight doors, per Team San Jose's facilities guide. Elevators are off limits for heavy carts.

Can we build a covered meeting room at the San Jose convention center?

Single-level covered booths, two-story booths and platforms over 500 sq ft need prior approval, with plans certified by a licensed engineer, smoke detectors under the structure and a 2A 10BC extinguisher per level. We engineer and submit the package.

Can we use balloons or a drone at the booth?

Helium tanks and helium balloons are not permitted in the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Limited drone use is allowed inside the expo halls after an application through the event manager, and never outside the building.

Who organizes SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning?

SPIE, the international optics and photonics society, runs the meeting, its technical conferences and the exhibition. SPIE also runs Photonics West in San Francisco a few weeks earlier and SPIE Defense + Security in April.

Should we exhibit here or at SEMICON West?

Advanced Lithography + Patterning reaches a narrow, senior patterning audience in February; SEMICON West, March 30–April 1, 2027 in Phoenix, reaches the whole fab supply chain. Patterning suppliers often do both, and we can build one kit that works at each.

Can Purple store our booth between SPIE shows?

We store the kit in Fishkill, NY or Las Vegas between shows and ship it to each advance warehouse. A 10×20 built for San Jose fits SEMICON West in Phoenix or SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco with new graphics.

What hotels are near the San Jose McEnery Convention Center for SPIE?

SPIE arranges a hotel block for the meeting, and its 2027 details are not confirmed yet. San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) is the closest major airport to the downtown convention center.

Before you sign for SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning

Ask any SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning exhibit builder these five questions:

  1. Will the proposal show every SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning fee, including show contractor charges?
  2. Who builds the booth: your own shop or a subcontractor?
  3. Will your project manager be on the floor at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center for install and dismantle?
  4. What does the rental include, and what is billed by SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning?
  5. Once SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning closes, where does the booth go and what does storage cost?

Common situations

Already own a booth? Bring it: we refresh the graphics, repair what is worn, ship it, install it at SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning and store it until the next show. You keep the structure you paid for and bring it to SPIE Advanced Lithography + Patterning.

Exhibiting from outside the US? We are your team on the ground at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center: freight to the advance warehouse, show-service orders, installation and storage, with one project manager on your emails in your time zone.
